With all due respect and ToBeHonest with you I thought maybe you would swear at me or say something really bad. It's like getting or using words as guns or weapons. You're like "shit did I do or say something bad?" but anyhow since we're speaking or commenting on about or of a song here's a list of songs I wrote or more so a track list: Track list 1. Skies of hell (instrumental) 2. Story 3. Paradox 4. Times 5. Murder in may (A cappella) 6. Rock n’ roll thing 7. Sunshine With all due respect Mike R.L.! What do you think of this song list or track list or set list? yeah I made those songs!

@NYRAPPERFULL10 жыл бұрын
To Be Honest with you. I'm recording them with my laptop and I just want to take my time with recording it. I don't have any idea how I can get these songs to the U.S.A if I didn't even record the bass, vocals or even guitar. I don't even have a band. Just so you know i don't play drums and 5 songs have been written. Sunshine and rock n' roll thing have been cancelled because they're only lyrics or just vocal melodies i've been messing around with them so it's only 5 songs that have been written and i just need to record them to get done. I will create more in the future. I hope they turn out to be better in time. So that's where my music at, Mike.
@NYRAPPERFULL10 жыл бұрын
Speaking of home demos or just songs this is how my new track list looks like: Track list 1. Skies Of Hell (Metal Instrumental) 2. Story (Life-Photo Passer) 3. Sky Park (Free-biker) 4. Paradox (Eternity) 5. Murder in May (Pop A capella) 6. Garden and Gears (The Time Passers & Minute Men) 7. Rock N’ Roll Thing!!! 8. Welcome To The 50’s (Good Morning, Sunshine!) Mike, I gurantee you this record is gonna make at the very least 5 hits in the u.s.a It's gonna be huge. Just look at the set list And by the time I'm finished writing just look at the songs. What do you think, Mike?

Funny part is Trent has also worked with Butch Vig before back in the early 90s, and recently went on tour with QOTSA, so they already had a good relationship and knowledge of eachother already, and it kinda shows with the good flow of the song.

+Mephiston If I remember correctly, Trent was involved with one of the Era Vulgaris songs, but it was like a bonus-track or a b-side...also, QOTSA opened for Nine Inch Nails as early as the "With Teeth" Fall Tour, which I saw at MSG...fucking great concert, awesome feeling to be seeing Queens and knowing NIN was coming up next rather than 'sitting through' an opening act that's not your bag

wow what an awesome song. it really does sound evenly like one third of each band. in "supergroup" collaborations it doesn't always pan out like this, but it did here to fantastic results. it takes a special kind of musician to respect the space of others but also burst out as hard as possible at the same time, allowing everyone else to do the same thing, and all three of them do it here.

Man, in Them Crooked Vultures you can see a bit of Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters and Queen Of The Stone Age, but not only that, you can see their evolution throughout the years and so many styles that i just can't do much, just enjoy. Also Trent was in his film about Sound City... the point of this song was it was done in a single take w/o any "splicing" ... there is another video of the three of them playing it in one take without the vocals. Brilliant combination, especially for what by all rights should just sound like 3 great but totally different musicians dickin' around...my only complaint is that that buildup around 5:00 with "Like a MANTRA!" and then the cut-out, should build up just a LITTLE more and a little longer before the drop-out to achieve the desired drama
@mrstevo7511 жыл бұрын
Thank god this guy said it. I've been a fan of Reznor for many many years, but both Grohl and Homme are both pretty talented guys.
@StottMikel11 жыл бұрын
If you watch their discussion, you can see why they get along so well. TR was classically trained and while he leverages tech and synth, at his core, he is about music. Grohl did drums on about half the "With Teeth" tracks...so their paths have crossed in the past. That crazy off-beat off-time madness in 'The Collector' screams Mr. Grohl.
@Itjustgotserious11 жыл бұрын
Well Dave Grohl is more against people that use the technology as a crutch. If you watched sound city, you would understand that Dave Grohl recognizes Trent Reznor as being very talented, and that he does not use the technology as a crutch, he uses it just like an instrument. He also says that Trent is one of the most brilliant people that he knows.

Cool, I've been a fan of both Ghrol and Reznor since the mid 90's (since I was 13, lol) but I didn't know that. Truth be told I wasn't a big fan of With Teeth so maybe that's why. Also Ghrol always strikes me as someone who would rather record something in his garage as a raw take while Reznor is kind of the opposite and overlaps multiple instruments. They're both musical geniuses but very different when it comes to recording, ya know? But hey, it's always nice to learn something new. :) Cheers.

to all musicians out there. this movie should have spoken to you. we all need to stop with relying on digital so much, the old school way of recording is still the best. im on a personal goal to do this. im currently looking for my band and make my own path.
@guitarist547711 жыл бұрын
I agree that the old school way gets the best sound. To be realistic, most of us musicians don't have the money to be able to record this way, especially with how hard it is to even make it in todays world. Most musicians need digital just to get off the ground before they can even get to any analog style equipment.
@jeffdeptula694611 жыл бұрын
true, but we gotta start somewhere. this is the right time to get your foot in the door. the record execs are saying the music is sounding to much the same. I go into the studio in January. the time is now!
@guitarist547711 жыл бұрын
jeff deptula I think this is a great start. I would say all musicians who have the funds should record analog, specially cause the sound is better. Plus it would show how much more they care about their quality.
@HeyZeus09611 жыл бұрын
I think that for right now, the best way to do it is use both integrated and kind of pick and choose what to use for what. That being said, my band has no access to an analog studio and we're recording purely digital right now for the cost of a few plates of brownies and constant sarcasm from our recording guy.
@jeffdeptula694611 жыл бұрын
HeyZeus096 that's cool as long as it's used the right way. if its going to be a constant crutch to fix mistakes, then were right back to todays music problems. I know about the dollars. its tight for me too, but I gotta do itright the first time and go analog. good luck to you and your band. im still searching for mine.

The recording industries resistance to change with emerging technologies, turning a blind eye to what the public wanted, and refusing to update out-of-date business practices are "the elephant in the room." Music piracy didn't start with Napster, similar programs, or even the internet. Anyone with a dual-cassette deck at home in the 80's could pirate music with ease--and did. The "music industry" is doing just fine. Never before have we had so much music available to the masses.

You're right man. The system Radiohead, NIN etc are going with is way better.And Kickstarter etc make it about support for the artist and responsibility from the artist. No middleman

Very true. But you can't say that piracy and people uploading stuff to KZbin, etc. hasn't hurt sales. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk and steak for free? Sound City was mostly shot with a RED Epic camera. The music may have been recorded to analog tape but the interview audio and voiceovers more than likely weren't. If the documentary's audio was mixed with the Neve board and recorded to analog tape for the mix down I'd be impressed.

...A lot of that is people buying singles instead of albums, why pay for an album with 3 good songs/songs you want and 9 fillers when you can buy just the 3 good songs digitally? Before you had to buy the whole thing, now you don't. I'm not saying all albums are like that, but that's what some artists or people do, especially in pop. That's why there's less revenue with higher song download counts. Sound city was recorded via analog btw.
