A drop of household oil at each of the joints will help with the squeak on the piano hinges. Be sure to not let it drip on anything else and wipe down the hinges after you oil them. It's probably best to remove the seat top with the hinge attached and take them outside to apply the oil. Then, after you are sure no oil is coming out, reattach them.

LOVE your tomato supports! My experience is that tomato vines will get huge if you let them (have had them grow up the side of an entire garage wall) so it will be interesting to see how they develop in that small space. I grow tomatoes in pots, but while I let them go up as far as they want, I use the Sicilian method of pruning, where you essentially remove all the non-fruit bearing stems as it grows. That way, I get big fruit (with the help of tomato set) even in pots.

I was a pro painter for 17 years. You're killing yourself with those 6" pencil rollers. Get a 9" standard with 3/8" to 1/2" nap. Do all the surfaces you can with that roller, then follow up with the short stuff if you have to. You won't hurt anything if you drip a little paint if you're using drop clothes. You'll cut the effort in half, cover more with less and be glad you did. Good luck!

Here's some tomato plant info for you: replant them all, sideways like the one that was trying to do it for itself, until those long stems are completely buried in the soil, leaving about four inches above ground before the first sets of leaves. Roots will form quickly along the buried stem, and your plants will thrive thereafter with your usual care.

But after watching this video, I might go with yours, slightly darker, green color instead. :D And with white walls, but light pine floors, to match my other things. It will be my future TH, which I'm about to buy right now: a used trailer, 7,2 m (28 ft) long, 2,3 m (8ft) wide and 3,25 m tall (inside height 8 ft), which have been used for workers to change their clothes and have their meals in, and it's insulated and with electricity, water heater, toilet, shower, plumbing, etc, and the prize is less than 2000 US dollars!! A lot needs to be changed to become a Tiny House for full-time living, (f.x. new inside walls and new insulation (min. 200 mm) but the most important structure is in very good condition. And I for sure will continue to watch all your videos to get inspiration from you, but not just because of that, but because you are great people and always make my day a little brighter. Might be better to use ripped up sheets in 2 inch wide by 2 foot, so as to gently cradle your tomatoes instead of string, Which may cause the vines to break. Once your vines bend it will not produce fruit. Your wooden supports are fine. Love the new Terry build, bringing life back to an older travel trailer is lots of work. The homestead is looking great, “keep on trucking” Rikky🤪😊 P.S. you can try graphite on the piano hinges it works well for medal on medal. Never use spray lubricants they only collect dust and will only help for a short amount of time. I use graphite when I repair gymnastics equipment. “It really works” Hoping this helps out.

But, how do you get graphite inside a piano hinge? 🤔 I would have used WD40, which technically isn't a lubricant (WD = Water Displacement) and leaves behind a dry film of protection. I've also noticed that piano hinges also squeak (always after installed). Now, I'm wondering whether the squeak is caused by a burr left on the end of the hinge rod, from cutting the hinge to length. (Things that me me go, "Hmmmm?")😎

As others have stated, use a wire cage for the tomato plants. You can get it in a large-opening grid like 4”x6” or something like that, so it supports the plant but allows the tomato’s to grow and be picked. It comes in rolls, and just cut a “cylinder” of cage 1’-2’ in diameter depending on the size of your plants and your overall working space.

Terry is looking good it's fun to watch. As for the garden. There are tomato stakes. They look like a small dowel rod, or use a small dowel rod to support the stem/ stalk. You can also get velco-like tape to thape the stem to the stake. Tomato cages work well also. The cage gives you more places to support the plant.

4:01 So my husband is what some might consider to be an expert gardener, especially with tomatoes. He says the most important thing is to keep from putting stree on the plant. As it bears fruit and gets heavier the places where it’s tied may start cutting into the plant. He usually puts his plants in a wire cage so that the branches can rest on the wire.

Trellis looks good. Don’t forget to pick out the suckers in the crooks of the tomato branches! Suckers are an extra branch between main stem and branch. Called suckers ‘cuz they suck energy from the plant. Also, be sure your tomato soil has calcium in it- prevents blossom end rot.

Gorgeous colours! 👍🏼😉 Tip for Trent and his tomato frames. The plants are going to grow (and quite rapidly too), which means that the cords are going to loosen up and will need to be adjusted almost daily. If you hang the cord over the frame (make sure there's not much friction) and hang a light weight at the other end they'll self-adjust. 😉
@isabellavalentino53314 жыл бұрын
Jens Graikowski the cords shouldn't loosen over time since upward growth occurs at the shoot meristem and not from below (sites.google.com/a/canacad.ac.jp/dpbio-davef/10-botany/9-3-growth-in-plants). the cords just won't be able to sufficiently support additional stem growth beyond the place they secured them

You should definitely get a cute screen tent - you can store all that trailer stuff in it, instead of moving things in and out. And later it would be a great accessory for the trailer. It works surprisingly well - I used one as a home office for a whole summer, and nothing was weather-damaged, not even the computer! I rigged shower curtains on the frame to keep rain out. (Of course, this only works if theft is not a problem in your area.)

Yo! You can plant your tomato plants down in the soil further. Any part of the stem will grow roots. When the plant is so tall and "stringing" rather than having a sturdy, thick stem that is proportionate to the branches and height of the whole plant, it tends to lean more. As you can image, with fruit on the plant this will be even more of a problem as the stem can break. So you want to plant it about 1 to 3 inches from the first leaves. Tomato cages large square wire fencing are good too to help support the fruit laden plants. So exciting!

For squeaky piano hinge : Lubricating the hinge with petroleum jelly or a synthetic teflon lubricant can help. My grandpa used to swear by using just a plain old bar of soap rubbed over the hinge pin than re-inserting it. My father uses q-tips to apply vaseline on the hinge pin and then re-inserting it. Don't use WD-40 - it gunks up after time and attracts dust as well which gums it up worse after a while.

You can stop the squeak from the hinges with a white candle to take a white candle stick and you rub it all over those hinges, Front back side and you have to do it probably every 3 to 6 months depending on how much you use it but the candle wax works amazing to keep hinges quiet you could put some round sticky pads on the corners two to close it gently

Some WD-40 should fix that squeaky noise on them hinges, do you guys have it over there, I'm pretty sure its worldwide item easy to get, its looking good though

Piano hinge: graphite bike chain lubricant. Paint: It’s all about the equipment and prep. Purdy brushes are the best and last forever if well maintained. Smooth finish every time. Prep surface with damp lint-free towel. The “conifer” is calming; good choice. 🌿

Trellis looks great! I thoroughly enjoy your journey. Two tips: Don't tie onto the plant - run the cord around the wood at different heights & let the tomato lean on it for support. Add a couple vertical trellis pieces in the back (at least one in between the plants) then just tie the cord zig zag fashion front to back of the trellis. (run 2 levels for now - 2/3 of the height of the trellis. As the plants grow in height, then add another level of cord at the top of the trellis) Tomatoes like to be planted deeper than other plants & will shoot roots all the way up the stem - mound some soil up around the stems, especially the one that fell over needs soil piled up around the trunk. Best of luck to you!

The "Terry" is coming along beautifully. That color is awesome 👌😍👌. Very soothing. And Trent, your hinge work, worked! LoL My jaw dropped when I seen the fridge. I thought y'all had painted it with the stainless paint. But then I saw it was just a cover over it. 😏 As far as the perfect painter... Let's just say NOONE is perfect. And if there are flaws in it so what. Just gives it character 😉. Both of y'all have made it your own. Makes me happy to see you guys happy! Your home will be the reflection of both. Keep the videos coming. Good job! Lots of love and blessings to y'all from Georgia! 💗

Yeahh!!! What a nice surprise this morning, a new video. Love the green. You guys work in so much harmony, I can't say the same for my husband and I. I never forget when he did the first piece of cabinet for our van, he was so happy to show me and I saw it and immediately realize that it was to high ...at the end he saw light and build so much better. Have a great rest of the week.

Oh I love love the colors! Trent you better behave you might feel that nail gun one day LOL. Allie it was nice seeing more of you today. Trent I think your tomato cage might do the trick but I'd use a different type of material to tie them. I've always used cotton twine. That rope might be a bit much. Terry is turning out awesome. Missed the pups and goats today. I can't wait till Friday. Have an awesome week.

If you want to know how to strengthen the stems on your tomato plants to make them stronger then best thing you can do is put a oscillating fan to blow back and forth on them. Trees and tomatoes plants get gain rooting and strength from wind.

So... I've been following you guys since Don't Stop Belizin and recently went back to the very beginning and binge watched every single episode. And wow. What a channel you two have created. Its no wonder your follow count is climbing by the day. To any new followers, I highly HIGHLY recommend going back to the start and following the journey from the beginning. So many tearjerkers... the proposal, the flat tyre, the goodbyes to Leave Everything and Wander., Trent's surfing episode, that flight that couldn't land, the orphanage, the volcanoes, your tribute vid to Nomadic Movement, the kindness of the people you've met along the road, Frank and his absolute adorableness, and not forgetting having to leave the van. THANK YOU for sharing your adventures with us. I'm a little sad I've caught up with all your episodes, but I am SO excited for what's coming next.

First of all, i am ADDICTED to this channel, i went back and started watching every playlist on the channel and i am so close to being done with the whole thing!!! That being said, why are you guys into dark colors? I don't hate it! they're just strong, dark colors, like the blue in the van, now the green 😕 after trent mentioned in the last video that he likes how bright colors open up the room and make it feel so much bigger after allie had put on the primer, i thought you guys were finally go with at least a little more vibrant colors. But anyway, still love the videos as much as ever and i can't wait to keep watching and for what's to come!!! Like when you guys get back to the van, start making your way back up to the United States, to when you guys get married next summer (that's what you guys said on a video i just watched where you guys check out venues for the wedding and you mentioned you were thinking it might happen summer 2021). I also love seeing you guys in Utah at gloria's house!!! Working on all the projects and terry! So definitely mixed emotions, can't wait to see the video where you are back in the van for the first time after escaping the pandemic, but i definitely want to see more of you guys in Utah with Terry, maybe doing some camping, showing us some beautiful sites from Utah, it would be so exciting!!!😃

IMO, the strong colors and solid butcher blocks reflect their strong, solid bond to each other. The vibrance is in their hearts. Why be negative about other ppl's color choices, when they will be the ones living with it, not us.

Thanks for the videos, they cheer us up and give us courage as we tackle our RV renovations. We have used the last 3 months to update our RV. We ripped out a closet and walls (because we had damage from leaking), installed new walls, cabinet, lighting and upgraded part of the bathroom. We have 2 weeks left to spackle, paint and put it all back together before our first camping trip of the year to Ithaca, NY. Thank you for all the inspiration and your positive outlook, even in difficult times. Good luck to you in accomplishing your tiny home and planning your first trip.
