Mayo is way over his head. He reminds me of myself when I was 14 years old and thought I knew everything about my interests and the world in general, but I actually didn't know shit. The dude lacks the knowledge and experience to realize his own lack of knowledge and experience, which is a common psychological trap but usually harmless because most people don't have egos that big, or youtube channels for that matter.

Hugo, and id Software by extension, should never have given him the time of day. Mayo may have stayed somewhat humble if they hadn't. Because from where I stand, it seems that his ego was launched into the stratosphere after they reached out to him.

A problem Mayo has is comparing games. Like I get drawing some comparisons here and there but when he pulls up God of War or Doom Eternal and compares their core mechanics he comes across like he doesn't like this because it isn't like that other thing instead of looking how or why it's different in some aspects. Comes across as pretentious because comparisons don't always work.

Looking back, Mayo wasn't even a good DOOM KZbinr. While I agree with *some* of his views, he honestly was an ass to people who disliked DOOM ETERNAL. If you said you didn't like the DLC's challenge, he'd just insult you. Even if you had some decent criticism. Since the DOOM devs said they agree with his views, and even updated a weapon with one of his ideas (Which, looking back, may have been them trying to shut him up) Now that DOOM is dead, and it's devs talked to him, old fans like me have seen what he really is, a moron. He acts like ALL devs are willing to listen to him cuz DOOM's devs did. When he doesn't see that devs have this thing called a "Design goal".

I swear, most of his critiques are just him self reporting that he sucks at playing the games he reviews, whilst also contradicting himself only minutes after criticizing something. I dont watch that many streams, but I enjoyed watching this one.

@@PsychonauticTherapy he just does alot of unnecessary complaining, bad jokes, outragous nitpicks (like he expected AAA quality or some shit, was on his high horse) most people seem to have A LOT of problems with his take on the OST (wich is amazing) and i can understand completely, because his take was bad, really bad. Yea it did. Then again Gman is probably someone looking for the comprehensive experience the whole shebang. For me story, characters, etc doesn’t matter much but I can see how someone who wants at least lip service to that would be disappointed by trepangs rather slapped together existenve. Me I went in looking for a game where I’m gonna jump in and punt kick someone in the head unloading rounds into his flying body whilst gliding across the map.

I finally gave up and unsubscribed from Mayo since the way he tries to criticize games is just ‘what do they not have that I enjoy in other/older games’ This is me, but you can NOT convince me that the new GoW rogue lite mode in Ragnarok is bad, and seeing how he made a video to say it is bad just from the thumbnail, that was the nail in the coffin to me I always have seen the problem with him as how back in the Doom Eternal days, he gave input on how the full auto mod could be altered to be better and more appealing to players, which they did take into account, and that inflated his ego enough that he thought anything he says, despite back lash or criticisms by others, is right regardless of what anyone says, which when it comes to his takes and how he goes about viewing game design, is just not true or justified

37:45 mayo's alien isolation review is so full of brain rot i beat alien isolation on nightmare it was a pain but i kept going i played it on xbox and i think the pc version of alien isolation probably has more bugs than console cause i never saw the ai go dumb on me in my playthrough and i enjoyed the game

I hate hate hate that Mayo is the kind of player who thinks a game allowing players to play "lamely" when it presents a millions options is bad game design. First it ignores that there are people who like to play slowly even where others would think its lame and second, and most important, he does it to himself!! Even more than the handholding tutorials hypocrisy I hate his hypocrisy about playstyle options. He'll try everything in Doom Eternal for fun but once he gets bored of one "good" weapon combo in anything else, if he doesn't feel the game forces him to change it up its suddenly a flaw. How about you make an actual effort to play the game, Mayo?
