Fun fact: tresillo is a Spanish word that means "triplet". It is not quite what we call a triplet in English though.
@jesusestellesmico24572 жыл бұрын
Ah! That's why I thought it was wrong. Thanks for letting me know that 😂.

When referring to it casually I like to call it the false triplet rhythm
@whateverguy92042 жыл бұрын
Actually, neither in spanish, Tresillo in spanish is the same as triplets in english, dividing a note equally in three. I guess the concept "Tresillo Rhythm" comes from there not being a better term for it
@leftclickben2 жыл бұрын
"Spanish Triplets" then
@rsantana3892 жыл бұрын
Yes, calling this “tresillo” seems confusing in my opinion. Better names could be the 3 3 2 rhythm, lazy 3 against 4 or the reggaeton or Coldplay rhythm

Ok well... Tresillo is Spanish for triplet. So tresillo rhythm comes from the generalization of a mistake. A hundred years ago Jelly Roll Morton knew this pattern as the Habanera rythm. Quite important for tango too. Anyway, I must admit tresillo sounds a lot funnier.
