Did you know that at the beginning of his career as a musician he only wrote and played instruments on other people’s recordings because he did not believe himself to be such a good singer?He also wasn’t more proliferous with studio albums because he wanted to do more R&B like Luther Vandross , but Quincy Jones kept telling him that he would be more successful as a crossover pop vocalist. Turns out Quincy was right. The pop charts showed James more love than the R&B charts did. JMO but he was destined to hit big either way.

While I'll be the first to say that James and Patti are perfection personified, in which I've never heard either one of them hit a bad note in well over forty years. I must give a huge attaboy to John Williams and that amazing rhythm section and extraordinary orchestra. This is what I consider a very well executed plan and performance.
