Great video! I noticed the the copper alloy had a mellow sound (somewhat like a gold flute), the silver seemed bright and the black nickel was very dark and rich. My personal favorite would have to be the dark nickel, but all of them were beautiful.

Great to see and hear this comparison of TJ altos. I'm still leaning toward the copper alloy, but the black nickel is dark and mysterious with a big core. It will be a tough decision. Fingers crossed for later this year.

I love the overall sound of the nickel silver; its literally right in between the copper and black nickel. But I also really love the sound of the black nickel in the upper register! It has a very interesting, unique color to it!

I never learned to play the flute but I like the sound of them, I can recognize the sound of those types of flutes in music I listen too though. My interest has not been peaked yet though.

The black nickel one was my favorite because it sounded a lot darker then the other 2 and the low notes were more punchy. I want that to be my personal alto flute for when I am older

Hello Gina, Great sound on all of them. Personally, as a former Piccolo player, the Nickle Silver has that "listen to me" sound and stands out more to my ears. Silver is great for small ensembles maybe, but if I am going to play I want to be heard. Thanks for the video. Next video, could you go over the headjoint Crown popularity? My experience, the crown does not vibrate or resonate a sound due to the cork. Has the structure changed? ES

Ilike the Copper and Silver i like mostly more brighter sound but the silver plated has the most richness of the sound out of them all

Copper alloy low register; black nickel upper register; silver a strong second on both. Because the lower register really is the name of the game for even having an alto flute, I would go copper.

I listened back and forth several times, the copper, to my ear, has the better and more even articulation from low to high. I’m no pro, but I think the copper would be my choice if I were in the market. Maybe someday.

The copper is definitely my favorite. With playing that one first, the silver sounded dull. The black nickel is cool, but too dark.

Hi. I've been a musician for 50 years playing many different instruments. I've played flute for almost 30 years. I just got a trevor james silver curved headjoint flute from a nice lady on ebay, who had barely used it. I was considering the copper alloy version. After hearing your video, I don't hear any noticeable difference in any of them. Maybe you need a different recording set up to show the difference, if you're hearing a noticeable difference live. They all sound identical, and definitely not worth an extra 800.00 bucks. I really like your videos though. Check out some of mine under John Xavier. I do flute and vocal covers with a Korg ek-50.
