He was the news guy, who told the news the best, who reported on actual facts he found out! He went investigating the answers. There is a reason he is now a Sir. And he damn well earned it. Thank Sir! Thank you for being the true principle of being British!

Just to correct the record, Mandela's eye problems were not a result of being damaged by "splinters" from the rocks he broke on Robben Island. They were damaged by the sun's reflective glare from the lime stone in the quarry. Much like the damage from snow. A number of prison guards working on Robben Island suffered the same malady.
@JingleJangleJam
@JingleJangleJam 2 ай бұрын
Thanks, the splinter answer didn't quite make sense to me, however this answer makes much more sense since too much sun glare can degenerate the eye and cause it to see ''splinters'' in its field of vision (types of distortions where they looked into the sun return when they see bright lights again).

It is refreshing to hear positivity surrounding Madiba, Nelson Mandela, since in South Africa today, the very people he dedicated his life to are calling him a sell out & other despicable things. And there lies the juxtaposition, the ones that fought the fight came out positive and human, the ones who got the freedom of that struggle doing absolutely nothing, are coming out full of bitterness & hate, with no serious discussions only destruction. I weep for my country, because we are such a warm & welcoming nation & there was a time where it looked like we would be a solid example for the rest of the world. Thank you Sir.
