I am a Black American female. The apologetic commentary is not necessary, Trevor Noah is not criticizing, he is being observational. Noah is the most humble, gracious, intelligent man. And this is comedy. Plus, he knows his audience. I think he is performing in South Africa? There, people are classified by race: White, Black and Coloured. And I think that there is a large population of Indian people there? If not, I stand corrected. So, this topic hits differently there, especially to Americans. Younger people are so sensitive. Relax! I don't need ANYONE to tell me I'm beautiful, just as I know that Trevor is not saying that I'm not. Does that make sense? I hope so. I enjoyed this! And I love Trevor Noah's heart.

@marynkosi3064 ай бұрын
@@lemon-boy057 I hope you are genuinely asking and is not one of those condescending questions, coz I am about to respond genuinely. South Africa is different. Coloured refers to a mixed person, black is black, Indian is Indian, we don't have a collective term for other races that are outside of white, i.e, there are no whites and coloureds - (I mean that sounds like White and Everything else - "Glady's Knight and the Pips" kinda vibe), like the other ethnicities are not even worth being specified. If you are outside of the three, i.e., White, black and coloured (which is mixed where you are from), then we use your country of origin as your Ethnicity (we are very specific). So if you are Latino, we would be specific about the type of Latino you are, we wouldn't just call you Latino, e.g, if you are Mexican, you will be Mexican (assuming Latino is another collective term for people mostly originating from South America, Mexico, Caribbean - I apologise if I am wrong) - or unless you prefer to be identified collectively as Latinos (we don't have a lot of Latinos in South Africa, I have never literally came across one in my life...but no doubt there are there). Either way, the point is - we don't just blend ethnicities that are outside of white into one thing; we celebrate everyone's individuality, culture and identity (hence we are the rainbow nation).

Just look how what's considered beautiful has changed over the years and how each society sees it differently. At some point fat women were considered beautiful, then came the thin waist, now the slim, etc etc! In fact today the social media decides what we consider beautiful. But at the end of the day each man and woman have their own way of judging beauty which is why - beauty is in the eye of the beholder - still stands to time!!
