Many years ago I was coaching a team and they did not get it. I complained and discussed this with the great rugby coach Pierre Villepreux who was helping our union at that time and he said "You get the Players you create" and put the problem back to me! I was definitely expert cursed! Pierre made me re-think about how I presented my material. Expert curse, keep this stuff coming Trevor!

This is so true and precisely why LOVE conducting TREVORS anti-talent talent shows with our athletes to teach them to embrace the learning process and empathize and support teammates by being great leaders in their sport! Thank you for this!! 😊

Excellent video. This was on point and what I needed right now. I work with high school math teachers, and we were struggling to come up with the right words to help them understand why they are not connecting with their students, and the students with their teachers, and I believe the "experts curse" is it. The teachers are focused on the rigor of the content and being an expert on it, and are losing sight of the gap between them and their students trying to learn. Thank you!

Thanks Jeff! I think you're right - this is one of those topics I wish I knew about sooner

I encounter this every day working with SMEs. If you are really good at tennis and want to remember what it is like to start learning tennis, grab your racquet with your other hand.
