@@TREXARMS In the video you did about eye dominance, you broke down handgun and rifle use. I'm in the same situation with the added exception that my weak eye (right) doesn't have the best vision. I plan to shoot long range rifles as I learn about shooting and was wondering what you'd recommend for those situations. Should I just learn the bolt action/lever action from the left side and use handguns/tactical rifles from the right?

How about actually going and taking a class or 3 and then you'll get one on one instruction from an actual expert. That's all Lucas has done. He took classes and then repeats everything that he retained or worked for him. That's the key, what works for him may not for you. So you're getting just part of what was taught. What people don't get is He doesn't do it live or in a single take. He cherry picks. Watch Rob Leatham, or Pat Mac and you'll see it done good or bad in a single take.

I retired at age 43 all I do is shooting surf. my points are valid has nothing to do with jealousy or Envy or any other nonsense just common sense. He runs around like a tacticool fool geared up for no reason other than to look cool. Actually did find where he entered a competition but got DQ'd. I've said it before and I'll say it again the guy can shoot don't argue that but he never test his mettle. When you do multiple takes to get a video produced and what it is you want to present then you're fake do it in one take good or bad and show it.

I’ve never taken any of those elite tac-ops pistol or rifle classes taught by dudes who used to be navy seals but I have noticed massive improvements in my shooting by simply applying a lot of the principles and training techniques that you guys publish for free on KZbin. Not trying to discount or dismiss those types of classes. I’m sure that a lot of them are great, Lucas’ classes included. The main issue is that a whole lot of them are pretty damn expensive. It’s hard for a lot of people to make room in the budget for an $800-1,200 pistol or carbine class that lasts 2 or 3 days - especially if they’re living check to check. Again, I’m sure there’s plenty of value to be had in those classes but it’s a lot of money regardless. Anyway, I appreciate all of the practical educational content you guys produce. It has helped me a lot. So have the gear reviews and tips. Thanks, guys.

As a recent (sub 2 years) joiner to the gun community I rely on guys like you. There's a lot of folks that talk about gear, buying Gucci equipment, and don't emphasize training as you do. Starting out in this hobby with your pragmatic approach being louder than others is keeping guys like me focused on good stuff, the right stuff, the stuff that makes this responsibility safer. Keep it up. Make that voice loud.

@@Maddog29, my BIGGEST fear is that some day in the not-too-distant future, the politicians that (supposedly) work for US will make that one last call to infringe upon our constitutional rights. And that day will be the beginning of the second and LARGEST and BLOODIEST uprising against such people. I also fear that just like portrayed in the book "Unintended Consequences" it will take a vicious retaliation against those same politicians before they back down and do a complete reversal. Should that ever happen I only Hope and Pray that the movement CONTINUES until EACH and EVERY person who is responsible for the degradation of our Rights is made to pay for their crimes against the people. NO just getting them to give us empty promises, either. NOPE!! Go back to the basics and remove ALL the egregious rules and laws they have implemented in an effort to keep US under their collective thumbs. WTF did we allow some 500 plus people to run roughshod over US?? MASSIVE jail time as an absolute MINIMUM may be the only thing they understand and might serve as deterrent to those who will come after them. NO parole or any form of early release. PERIOD! Let them rot in jail until death if they enacted laws that took away our rights because they insist THEY know better what WE need, even if we've given them instructions to NOT enact a law! It would serve to put them on notice that THEY work for US and need to do OUR bidding. Off my soapbox for now. LOL

H ? Demoncrats outsmarted us. They conned us into allowing everyone to vote, whether employed or not. Anyone receiving their livelihood from the labor of other should give up on their vote until they are able to pay their way. Then they conned us into allowing children to vote. And it doesn’t matter if they are old enough to fight for our country but that might be something to discuss but I believe everyone should be at least 21 to vote. And most 21 year olds are too immature to cast a vote. But we must return the minimum voting age to minimum age of 21. The demonrats out smarted us on both of these issues. And now they have already voted (unsuccessfully) held a vote on allowing 16 year old children to vote. I won’t mention that the dems want to allow non-citizens to vote in our elections.

I've found that Hotdog, horseshoes, and handgrenades as well as other vr shooting games are great for working on fundamentals, minus the recoil impulse; which there are devices to fix that too. Thanks for the great tips. Found your channel through Garand Thumb a while back and been subscribed since. Always looking for ways to better myself and help my friends out too. We tend to go shooting up at my farm, and we help each other get better. You’re a great instructor and help tremendously on improving our skills. I really appreciate it. It would be awesome to see you do some shotgun or even some high speed practical bolt action drills. Keep up the good work!

A little late to this video...brand new shooter here, just want to say that your videos are really helping me improve at a rate that I am happy with. And your last point about setting conditions when you train, that's applicable to almost anything that you're learning and training for, not just shooting! Thanks for all this super educational content

Excellent break down. The FPS and mouse example was great. You and Aaron Cowan of Sage Dynamics have a talent for breaking things down and making them click. That guy can break down physics and evolutionary biology and apply to target acquisition and sight alignment. Cool video editing and Gucci gear is nice, but this is the stuff that registers with me.

I couldn't agree with you more. These are two of the best, if not the two best channels on KZbin for really breaking down shooting skills technically. The fact that this kind of stuff is available for free to anyone is still amazing to me sometimes

Great breakdown man. I admire how articulate and squared away you present. As a fellow creator it's something I strive for daily and it's only through the actual practice of what's preached that you develop that ability. Always love the content. And I envy that range. Would love to have a real range like that close by!

Not sure if you'll see this comment but I love the fact that you mention you are a self taught shooter. Im a self taught shooter as well, and I believe that is the reason I want to continue improving opposed to people taking a class or shooting "casually" and being satisfied with lower standards or even other people's standards.

Glad I stumbled on to your channel. This is the kind of info I have truly been looking for. A lot of other channels really review guns and minimally focus on improving performance. What you are doing is the standard of what every shooter should be looking to attain if you take shooting seriously. I am no where near your level but with the vids and info,I am hoping to improve on a more consistent basis. Great vids, keep up the good work!! Thank you.

Super late to the party, but I’m new to owning a AR and don’t get to shoot a lot in general. This makes lots of sense and opened up my mind and to really take it more serious than I anticipated. It’s a great skill to acquire, a in depth hobby and learning process, and a very useful skill for defense. Thank you

Don't get me wrong, the HSGI padded MOLLE belt is the best gun belt I've owned/used up to this point, but still just a little to much. Size wise and weight of materials wise it's just still a little to much. Even with VTac suspenders they sit on the hips in such a way that my hips and lower back start to lock up right when I get going. That and the plastic shank the runs inside the length of the belt slides out all the damn time. My hopes are that the Ronin Task Force belt will be a good replacement for my HSGI war belt. With that being said @Adam Thiel, if you want it, I can cut you a Smoking deal on it. $160 for the MOLLE belt, a Multicam cobra inner belt with a Dring. A pistol/rifle Taco, 2 pistol Taco's, a Magnet, an ITS ETA pouch. I'll even throw in an airsoft 1911 and a serpa drop down for itto do some pistol training with.

Nicely done and well explained. I've been teaching both military and civilian since 1980 and your tips and drills shown here are right up there with the best. But the explanation of how and why puts you over the top. I think that most, on both sides of the speed vs accuracy debate, miss the balance that you talked about here. Keep up the good work.

This is one of the best videos you’ve ever made and that is on youtube- Im not an amateur shooter, but we can all always improve. I already know these things, but its good for me to watch this as a reminder too. Sometimes we know the things we need to do, but need a little help getting back to that. I need to hit the flat range pretty soon, I need to get familiar with my 300 BLK- subs and supers. Thats something that Im NOT so good at- because I learned how to shoot with an M16

Mr.Botkin, just recently graduated infantry OSUT in the US Army. I watched your videos before I left for OSUT, and I watch them now still. Every bit of firearm advice as well as shooting advice I have soaked up like a sponge and apply and I do much better than I used to. Your mindset is on point with mine and I love it. Thank you so much, keep up the good work man.

I bought a shot timer a while ago. It really helps for speed. I kept my targets close and moved them out further only when I could be accurate and fast.
