From an early childhood educator who worked with toddlers in a classroom, get on Thomas’ eye level, model, and say “Gentle hands.” You’ll have to google how to show him gentle hands because it’s hard to describe it 😂

So good to see Katie back. My sons are similar age gaps and Thomas is normal! Toddler's are hard, especially toddler boys!

Awe Eva is so adorable! ❤️ Also Katie, I totally have gotten my kids actual birthday confused with their due date. Happens to the best of us. 😉

My son was 18 months old when my daughter was born. One time, he wanted to play catch with her so threw her a ball, which of course hit her in the face. 🤦🏻♀️ It is hard because you know they’re not trying to be mean or evil, they just don’t understand how fragile the baby is. But I think having a very serious tone & then taking the toy he accidentally injured her with is helpful. And I remember I said SOO many times “be soft and gentle” and “don’t hit your sister” and had him rub her head very gently. They’re 17 & 16 now so she did survive. 😉 Trey & Katie you seem like such intentional parents, you’ll figure it out. Also, there are some “old school” parenting techniques that do just work, like what Trey did with the pouch, so I definitely used some of those too. Raising kids is such an adventure!

We had our son first, they r 15mnths apart lol and as u were telling this flashbacks came flooding back😂 they r 17&18 now and have been insanely close, it is an age he has awareness enough attention isnt 100% him anymore. We were told this was totally normal as well-he made a "few" attempts but the novelity wore off and he found a new focus❤

Cozy Earth! I was visiting a friend & at the last minute, while leaving, she asked if I wanted some clothes she was going to drop off at charity. I had enough sweatshirts, but I was polite & took them. I put one on when I got home & OMG, it was amazing! It said Cozy Earth inside so I looked it up & I can't get over it. It's all I want to wear. She gave me 2 sets of the loungewear. Now, I want the sheets. & your offer is 40% off! Seriously... I'm 65 & never imagined a garment could feel like this.

I had a boy 1st also and then twin boys. My oldest was 2 years and 2 months old when they were born. He also was nice sometimes and other times would try to step on the babies when they were laying on the floor. You are not doing anything wrong! I think that might be their way to show they are a little jealous they don't have mom's full attention anymore. Fun fact: he always expressed in later years he wishes he was an only child. Personality factors in as well I think! My oldest likes quiet and order and our house of 5 kids is mostly the exact opposite. Lol! Best of luck working with Thomas! He will get it! 😀

Do not google if you're parenting correctly. 😂 You'll get every controversial opinion on the planet and you'll think you're doing everything right and wrong at the same time. I encourage you guys to reach out to parents who you respect or who have well-behaved kids and ask them for advice. You'll be surprised to find some helpful methods you didn't even think of before and a willingness to help with practical issues! Also I recommend "Parenting with Loving Correction" by Sam Crabtree. Was a game changer for us! I've got a 4 year old daughter who is like a boy and she had a sister 15 months younger than her so I can surprisingly relate haha

I'm 65 & before I had kids, I asked a coworker whose teenager was awesome, what her 'secret' was. I got the book & it's a classic & a game changer! (I actually stayed married a couple years longer because of the communication skills) "How to Talk so Kids Will Listen & Listen, so Kids Will Talk". The same authors also wrote "Siblings Without Rivalry". They are 33 & 30, best friends (boy & girl) both are engineers, & well adjusted adults.

Golf clubs can be an OUTSIDE toy for a while! Toddler boy, it’s what they do!
@alysham.73186 күн бұрын
Yeah the goof club thing sounds right. He’s adjusting to the new sister and his brain isn’t really even sure what she is….and he’s testing boundaries to see if he’s safe and still involved. Be firm, and maybe take the golf clubs away for a while and remind him why they’re gone? Let him help with the baby and try to instill the brotherly protective streak? Let him know that he has a mission of helping you keep her safe. Lots of love to you guys!

In Minnesota, I don't know ANY conservatives that I play with! Most people don't talk about it. I play at Lifetime & most people are rich. One time, we had a "right handed team vs left handed team" & I pointed it out & my partner said he was on the wrong team, then. (I tried to play reeeealy well, but we lost) anyway... just occurred to me 🤔 the candidates having a PB match 😂

It’s all normal for the hitting. My daughter is 2 and my son is 10 she beats up her brother for no reason! We had to start time out early! We do timeout where we all are so we do send her to her room air away. And there’s a rule for them so a minute for every year they are so my daughter gets 2 minutes on a timer which was a game changer as well! Trial and errors really! My son is my step Son so I’m a new mom as well 😅

I saw something recently that said, instead of saying don’t hit, the toddlers only listen to the last thing you said, for examples the word “hit” So instead of saying, don’t hit redirect them to what you want them to do,
