I find this more enjoyable than the wild modern stuff because these guys are in a motorcycle's natural habitat.

We were watching a World round in Canada in 73 or 74, my dad was drinking a beer. Martin Lamkin was walking the section he saw the beer and asked Pa if he could have a drink? My dad smiled handed it to him he took a couple big gulps and thanked us. My Pa was so happy! I was 15 or 16 not old enough to compete in the FIM I wanted to desperately get my FIM license I was studying him, Malcom, Cotard, Legune, Soler and Michaud. Turned 18 and rode against the all and out scored most of them in Calgary, Ca. They beat me after the time penalty added on. Montanan's aren't used to time restraints. lol

It's good to see old school trials instead of the indoor arena tricks 👍

Watch the outdoor season then but it is the same story: Lots of riders turn up to watch Toni Bou win. :)

Ohh, the deterioration the sections went through after some bike passes. It was nasty but fun if one didn't take it too seriously.

Is vintage trials usually that laid back. Looked like a nice ride through some fields with the hardest obstacle two logs on top of one another. Think i want to pull the bike off the shed wall and join up.
@lohikarhu7343 жыл бұрын
Ah, there were a few spots with some "dabbing" going on, and there was a tough one with three sets of logs, and tightly-spaced right-angle turn...

I knew a Triumph 500 rider back in the '60s and '70s who had a cigar in his mouth in scrambles..!! Fennell was his last name.. . He did well most of the time, too... .

I sold my sherco 290 2004 a few years back for about £1300, you can something pretty decent for that price, I just had a quick look, you can get a 2008 model for £1600 on ebay

@@user-ks5ff Hard to find in the States. A 2004 Montesa Cota 4RT, is going for almost four grand, and it's practically the only choice!
@user-ks5ff6 жыл бұрын
That's pretty harsh, would you have to pay much import tax if you had a used bike imported?
@SamSoMite4216 жыл бұрын
@@user-ks5ff Thanks for suggestion. I hope there won't be red tape obstacles to deal with as well as costly freight and import taxes. Unfortunately the US market for trials is pretty limited here :(

Probably not "fast & furious" enough... Like "football/soccer", where there are not enough goals, and not enough fighting or "impact", just skill and endurance.

cool old riders see who built this sport most demanding sport in the world 30 horse power 250 pounds try a enduro for 67 hours every body go home i remember 175 riders start 15 finish and the bike shops got rich they would not even give me tires it cost me 2000 dollars every trophy i won

I hear you having ridden the Berkshire Int'l Trials, '69, '70, '71. Came in 1 (one) point shy of getting a gold on time in '71 but couldn't match the likes of the factory Husky rider, Lars Larsson, for the speed tests.

It’s a shame they don’t implement the old rules that existed at the time these bikes were first used. i.e. wheels must keep rolling forward, no stopping or rolling backwards allowed,. Keep the modern balance and bounce nonsense out of the sport.
