This week we have the only Electric Trials Bike you can buy on test! This is a review that we feel may be pretty controversial but at the same time is something that has been needed to be addressed for quite some time!
The subscribers have asked for it! So in our truest nature we have given the people what they want. A completely non-biased, non commercial review. With this bike being loaned to us by the worlds largest electric trials bike importer loaning us this machine in the understanding that we are going to be brutally honest!
Of course we would like to thank the guys at Electric motion UK for their gracious loan of their top of the range model. If you do like what you see its easy to get a hold of them!
It's review time once again and THIS! Is TRIALTUBE!!

I own one and love it. I changed my garden in middle of town into playground. I can ride in morning, evening, every day. To have a ride, I'm prepared in 2 minutes. No shuttle, no loading, no highway. And if a new Corona Lockdown will come: Doesn't matter. My garden will not be closed!

You mentioned all the things that interest me about this bike a) it's quiet & you can practice without annoying the neighbours; b) it's like having 3 bikes in 1 - as a trials newbie I won't outgrow the bike as my skills develop. I can just change modes; & c) the extra money spent on the initial purchase compared to other brands is saved on not having to buy fuel & perform engine maintenance. I had a play on one recently and it was very responsive off the throttle, particularly in red mode. The clutch seemed to work just like a normal hydraulic clutch, though not needed very often. I was unaware of the lower ground clearance until now though.

Hil. Really great review of this bike. I am an Epure racer owner and agree with all your comments. The worst point for me it is the poor clearance. In the other side the low engine braking (nearly no engine braking) iis just a matter of getting used to using the rear pedal more. Not a real problem once you are using ths bike usually.. Other question not mentioned its the very good range of the battery. And easy way to improve it's performace it's is using a little battery, half could be enogh for a complete rrond and previously to the second round yo can change it quickly. Probably you will save 4 kg there...andplaced in a very hgh position...

Great'n fun review. Very informativ and entertaining. Made me laugh several times. Keep it up! Thanks loads. I've already rode one. Before I was like "naah, never! Leave me alone with that sh*t! (seriously)". After just 2 test rides I was ... quite excited and impressed ... compared to my TRS300RR (had a GG300, Scorpa300, Beta250 before) ... it will take some time (days?weeks?) to get fully "calibrated" to the power / throttle situation and I will miss the sexy roaring sound for sure compared to the "rolling sewing machine sound" ;-) ... but hey its actually very nice to ride without the 2T/4T noise, especially if you and your e-buddies can comment about the riding mistakes while riding without yelling. So I turned from 0% yes to a 75% yes after just 2 test rides each 15 minutes ...

Lithium mining really?it is not a problem.if you do the research and compare oil production to lithium mining you'll see what I mean. Not a free lunch but at least it can be completely recycled. I've never heard of a litre of petrol being recycled... there's a lot of stories from the oil companies ,not directly but paid for by them,designed to put people off as long as possible. See lead ,asbestos and tobacco stories.

On a serious note... ... Not clearly stating the battery lifespan based on cycles it can charge and discharge is naughty. That's where the biggest cost will come in when the battery needs replacing. Me and my mate had 4-5 hours riding at Inch Perfect and both finished with 54%. Been riding around the garden, without bothering the neighbours, the last couple of nights, dropped to 48% so plugged it in (for the first time) and took about 90 minutes to get back to 100%.

I think this is mostly great the 3 bikes in 1, the less maintenance and the technology in general including the lack of noise can be beneficial in some areas to some people. But having owned a KTM freeride, I will say this about E bikes, the Battery life is just not there in reality it is about 1/2 of what the manufacturer says it is, granted on a trials bike, it should last longer because generally you are not flogging it about. Now on to the battery, batteries go bad, tool manufacturers cant even get their batteries to last, and replacements are always quite expensive, so if one has to spend 2500 every 3-4 years for a replacement battery because it went bad, wont take a charge or doesnt last as long as when new, then is it really worth it? couple that with who knows in 3 years if this company will be in business, look at Alta great bikes but no longer and I personally have 2 friends who cant ride their 10,000 bikes because yes their batteries went bad and they cant seem to source a new replacement Now on to is it good for the sport of trials? I have to say yes and no, on the basic level, it gives people an easier riding experience and lessens the curve on some things, Lack of noise will lend itself to being able to be used in many places including indoors, But make no mistake, people will still complain, people dont like to see other people having fun and will complain on that basis alone, instead of dust, they will say it creates dust, destroys natural vegetation, creates erosion, causes injury to others, displaces turtles and ground squirrels you name it they will try to use it. The big thing as I see it, is this, since I can remember Trials has been referred to as the Ballet of the moto world, and the riders as the most skilled and this is because of their Balance, brake, throttle clutch control, proper gear selection, mastery and being able to become 1 with their bike, with this bike, you take away the need to master these principles and only build off of what you have to work with which is throttle and brake with a use it if you need to clutch. sure riders will be able to perform the same or similar but are they actually perfecting at the sport? are they actually good riders? You can take a trials rider and place them on any bike and they will advance and do incredible is the adoption of the Gun it and go bike a wise choice for the sport? I think its great, I would own one, I would ride one, but I sure would not want it to be my only option in the future.

But are they more environmentally friendly when you take into account the batteries. Which could change your bike for another year even the standard vertigo is a brave bit cheaper.

Sold mine after 4 weeks …. Running out of power when everyone is having fun is not good , 600nm of torque is just terrible , ground clearance is shocking , no engine break going down massive hills is scary …..green mode is for a child and never used it , blue won’t go up a steep hill climb ! It’s a big no from me 👎🏼 I’ve got a 301rr montesa now … proper bike

Some trial events require road work. Are these bikes road legal? can you insure them? I know there seems to be some confusion on this subject with the police, they dont seem to fond of them. From what i'm informed the police confiscate them Granted road events are few and far between but at £8k it's worth a mention

Add an ‘underbar’ FRB (fixed regenerative braking) button- and it works fabulous on steep, slick downhills. Great braking plus charging up the battery a bit.

Hi Mark, just bought an Epure Race with the clutch. Do you know if the FRB button works on that model, and do you purchase it from EM / Inch Perfect Trials? Loving the bike, and the fact that it is so quiet is great.
@improvsax
@improvsax 3 жыл бұрын
@@smoky2stroke Yes, it will work. The factory FRB is just like the ‘mode’ button, but wired differently. I made an ‘underbar’ setup that works way, way better. No need to unwrap your thumb to activate, just move it over a few mm. Of course it is not ‘approved’ - but it is a very simple momentary button that connects to pins. Not a big deal. If the factory one was like the one I made, it would be a LOT more useful. Plus is is much, much higher quality

These bikes are complete tanks waaay over built , 75 fffing kg for a trials bike 🤣 , as a bicycle trials rider for 20yrs , i could design a moto trials specifically for bicycle trials riders ( freaky power to weight ratio men ) and they would probably make current moto trails riders look lame..id exceed these bikes performance with 35kg to play with 😐 , 1.bicycle wheels are enough on bigger axles , 2. Must have very light battery..10mins of juice then swap for another IS completely fine we would put up with that and carry half dozen spares in ruck sack.. 3..shorter suspension less heavy duty bulky frame & all components.....my bicycle trials is 18lb full bike & can survive 14ft drops while have NO suspension!.
@TrialTube

As a bicycle trials rider of 28 years I think you are missing the point. These are coming into the market for the Moto trials community and not the bicycle trials community. (We have enough problems with people being confused with our sport and over sized BMX). I will be doing a “real” push bike trials episode coming soon.

@@TrialTube i wouldn't look out of place in a danny mac video 😐, i'm a mechanic aswel (i'm 37) . after my current project ( a farm use pedal kart ) i'll be looking at the minimum strength + engine grunt i can get away with on a super lite build to match the gaps + tap jumps moto trials do.....your gas gas needs the strength to survive its own bulk..if everything is way lighter you'll ride better......on push bike i can flat gap 8.5ft from standing & 47'' up a wall with no ramp or kicker. ive rode moto x cross before push bike trials , i had a 94 ktm sx 125 for a few years.....i'm a lite weight lad at 50kg so obviously my builds are for over lite nimble riders..its not going to survive 100kg riders who have zero skill , it will be for top tier bike or moto bike riders wanting a surgeons scalpel of a bike..👍
