Hi Steven, I am surprised how quiet and smooth these DMUs run, not having the knurled wheel flanges is a plus. The second set looks much better now you have close coupled the coaches, just needs the Decals to finish off the livery. Good to see these older Triang units still performing well, a great addition to your collection. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

@paulvozman842 Hi Paul, they aren't too bad for their age. They started producing them in 1957, Triang must have sold thousands of them. Steven.

Hi Steven, they are indeed Southern Region third rail BR EMU's. The electric pick ups are the bow shaped piece (as in bow and arrow)at the bottom of the bogie between the wheels. They are not class 101 they are as close as Tri-ang got to the class 2-BIL. Yours run very well, mine has the knurled wheels and it won't run at all on code 100 track. David.

@trainsontuesday Hi David, I really should read about these things before showing them. Between you and Carl I have been put on the right track. Must have been bloody dangerous to have the powerline at ground level though. The second one I showed has 8 wheel pickup and just purrs around the track. I might add some interior lighting as the fiddly wiring work has been done. Steven.

@@stevenpeaketrainsandstuff3682 Hi Steven, the Southern region third rail system is still very much in use. It is 750 volt DC

Hi Steven, lovely models. I believe they are EMUs of the Southern region BR. They are slightly rarer than the DMUs. All the best butty. Carl.

@carlgauntletttrains3026 Hey thanks Carl. All these years I did not know that this was an electric train. I thought the bogeys looked a little different. Steven.
