Great video, thank you so much. Just one adverse observation: You defined data triangulation as "the use of multiple..methods or data sources..in qualitative research to develop a comprehensive understanding of the phenomena". However, you have clearly showed that..methods or data sources.. are only 2 of the 5 types of triangulation. A more complete definition based on your explanations would be "the use of multiple..methods, data sources, investigators(or researchers), theories and analyses ..in qualitative research to develop a comprehensive understanding of the phenomena". Thanks once again for the vid. I learned a whole lot!💓

@@ResearchTube what is the possible triangulation use if this is the Reliability and Validity of Research? Relevant literature was examined for the reliability and validity of this research and those were made (Odom et al., 2005) : • Researcher flexibility was provided. • Support of another researcher was received at the coding stage of data and cooperative study was made. • Data about when and with whom the interview was had and how long it took were recorded as tabular. • Enough time was spent on field by making in-depth interview with participants and making researches of relevant documents. please help doc. thanks

What if we use quantitaive data collection then interview then focus group discussion from same population over time. Where triangulation method exist in this model.
@ResearchTube2 жыл бұрын
It depends upon your study objectives, it seems to be a huge project with lots of data collection tools, however, triangulation is possible

Thank you! Great video. Could anyone help me, please? I am currently completing a research project around ‘Distant Reading’. The project involves seeing if a reader can understand a novel well without reading it and just using tools such as ‘Voyant Tools’. I have tried it myself and got a good understanding of the novel. Yet, for a quality reason, after watching this video, I thought it might be interesting to get other researchers involved. Complete a similar process to mine and compare the result. Can we get a good understanding of a novel through distant reading only? Which triangulation method would be more valuable for this type of research? Also, I would be very interested to hear any comments. Is it ethically ok to read a novel in this way?

It can happen when you didn't collect data carefully, data collection is very robust process, if you find contradiction, report it

So what if your strictly focusing on doing qualitative research geared towards a synthesis of existing literature for a research question. Sort of like a content analysis. Let's say the data has already been collected by other researchers and your just analysing their definition's, concepts, and theories. Which form of triangulations is best? Based on your presentation, I take it as a triangulation based on either a deductive or inductive method?
@ResearchTube3 жыл бұрын
I think you are interested in literature review, in empirical research we take inductive or deductive, not in review studies

bs.. lumped with correct information to confuse and nonaccuracy in few nonapplicable examples like triangulation used as or instead of averages in finding or attempting finding the correct perspective, unlike 2+2=4 which it is much more accurate to apply in the perspectives example. we clearly shouldn't use an averaging and triangulation technique in few examples listed on this video. triangulation it's not accurate to use for finding the answer to 2+2 like a middle point or triangualtion/averages (or for views/perspectives). it's attempting misleadings(intentional or not, nonrelevant ). lots of bs with few correct bits in wrong contexts.
