An interesting theory I read online, once, as to why the _Enterprise-B_ and the _Lakota_ (seen on DS9) were the only _Excelsior_ class vessels to share the distinctive refit, and why a decades-old vessel was considered a plum assignment: that the _Lakota_ WAS the _Enterprise-B,_ having been decommissioned and mothballed for unknown reasons (Damage? Treaty obligations?) and replaced by the Ent-C (and later -D), but was pressed back into action post Wolf 359 and with the Dominion War heating up, but being obliged to take a new name as the -E was still in service.
@dustinkosman66152 жыл бұрын
I actually considered that theory as well. I had theorized that when the Enterprise-B was decommissioned in 2329, she would be placed in the fleet museum for the next 38 years until the Battle of wolf 359. The ship would then be removed from the fleet museum and be recommissioned as USS Lakota (NCC-42768) in the year 2368.

My theory has the same explanation as to why the klingons looked different from TMP onwards"They always looked like that,we just didnt have the budget"..in my head canon,nearly all excelsiors that we see from TNG onwards where of the Enterprise B design...they simply didnt have the model yet...DS9 kinda breaks that because they used the new Excelsior CG Model,but..well budget,if i am remembering correctly DS9 used Voyagers CG model,the one created for Tuvoks Flashback Episode

@NashmanNash2 жыл бұрын
I wish they used the Enterprise B/Lakota refit in DS9s later run...After all..they had to make a CG model anyway..and could´ve used the official "why did klingons change" explanation..."TNG Era excelsiors always looked like that,we just didnt have the budget/model earlier" From the In Universe Timeline,it does not make that much sense to build 2 refitted Excelsiors,which clearly seem superior to the base design...and build all others to the original plans...

I'm trying to remember if one of those books suggests that the B outlived the 1701 for years in service, clocking in around 44 years (with the C only four years) or if that was a fannon timeline.

I really think the Enterprise-B was underutilized on screen/in Alpha Cannon. This makes me think that they should do a new series centered around NCC-1701-B. The only thing is though there’d have to be a title for it and a crew for the Enterprise-B. Any ideas?

A nice relaxing beta canon video, and its nice the Enterprise B got some attention as little is known really abouts its missions under Harriman as alot of that will be beta canon as well so its always fun to have a take on the ship itself. I'll always argue that the Excelsior transwarp was not a failure but an unqualified success leading to the redefining of the warp scale and that later iterations of it are what we see going forward on the Enterprise D voyager defiant and really any federation ship that came after oh you say but it failed that one time well sure it failed the best engineer in fleet history sabotaged it and I'm sure later on went on to make it better than ever especially since he new where changes needed to be made to prevent that from happening again
@TriAngulumAudioStudios Жыл бұрын
Yeahhhhh no, it was a failure! Far too much evidence shows that is was! IE It's not called Transwarp in TNG, Transwarp is used to refer to speeds obtained by races like the Borg.
