I read that Trevor and Heather Wurtele have been traveling in an RV quite a while. Maybe you could talk to them. This could also be an interesting theme for one of your podcasts... the living and training of a professional triathlon couple in an RV 😉

Hi Taren, first of all, great channel, I try and watch everyday. About the RV, from experience, we have a 31' RV (It's for sale by the way), it's on a Ford F450 base. Has the small kitchen & washroom, sleeping for 8. For the first few years it was great, but then the maintenance, new tires times 6, brakes, winterizing the water system. And they don't go that fast, you would be on the road for days to each destination. Maybe I'm not that fond of long distance driving. We did trips in Southern Ontario. Good luck, and have a great time in Colorado.

Get a good reliable RV and it's a great way to go if you like driving. Remember you get about 6-10 mpg out of most RV's. We love ours. It runs awesome and is very convenient, especially at triathlons. One thing I did learn is that when you get to a location where you need to do a lot of local traveling we just rent a car. It's a lot cheaper, and easier way of getting around.

I have a conversion van, works awesome for race travel and it’s easier to park and cheaper to run. TSA always puts a new scratch in my bike. I bubble wrap it in a thule case and they still find a way to ding it.

I got all the info you need. I'm a full time RVer. I'm on the road right now for 6 months competing in 4 ironman events. Number 3 on my trip is right now in Boulder. Mayne I'll see you there. I finish the 6 months at Ironman Louisville. RVing is great

That's the problem -- it would not be full-time for me, it would be race and back home, race and back home, etc. Starting to look like it's not an option for how I was thinking about it.

Are you thinking of a travel trailer or motor home? If you're looking at a trailer, you need to seriously consider your tow vehicle. Especially when traveling long distances or up mountains. Either way expect to get crap gas milage. We get about 10 mpg. Also RVs are like boats. There's always something wrong with them. Most of the time minor things, but sometimes not. Count on some time to fix things (or money to pay someone to do it). We absolute love our travel trailer. Makes for great memories, but not without headaches ;)

Don’t buy a trailer. Find someone that rents them (small businesses or individuals) and arrange a few set weeks in a year that you book way ahead for a set price. You get to experience for wayyyy less cost and you can get out fast if you don’t like it
