I was so happy to see them accept. At first I thought he was offering as a gesture to show that you should offer people food when you’re eating, not to eat in front of people, and offer to share tastes.. but not actually to share in this scenario. But he ACTUALLY wishes to share here and it made him feel happy and his meal more content I’m sure. I couldn’t find the exact way to explain that how I wanted to but I hope it came off well enough. Have you told them vermicelli means "little worms" in Italian? Our different pasta shapes are often for what the pasta looks like: farfalle - butterfly, radiatore -radiator, penne - the nib of a ink pen, etc.

...Orecchiette, little ears.....
@howardstark3 жыл бұрын
It also might be interesting to point out that each shape is meant to have a "purpose" or "intended use" for whatever dish is being prepared; they weren't just given descriptive names because someone got bored and decided to be creative while making different shapes. 🙂 Naturally, someone isn't going to refuse to eat something you prepared because you used penne (for instance) instead of ziti most of the time; if it's all you had in your cupboard, or all that you could afford, or you like ridges on your pasta instead of smoothness, it would take a real jerk to be that critical about it. 🙂

@@SkitSkat674 I don't care who came up with it. It's fantastic. Simple, delicious, comfort food. The best thing about pasta is how all the different shapes are different, but the shape changes the ratio of everything.

Mr. Tahir talking about the meatballs stuffed with eggs makes me wish a Scotch Egg wouldn't be haram for them to sample, I bet he'd really like it. Apparently there's an Indian version of the Scotch Egg that uses minced beef though, the Nargisi Kofta, if you wanted to try making that for them? I would enjoy that and I'm sure they would too.

I thought about scotch eggs as well and thought they'd love them. It didn't occur to me that they couldn't eat them. Once you pointed it out it seemed so obvious. Felt really embarrassed - even though I was sat watching it by myself

They can substitute any haram meat for some halal meat. Then they can have an egg stuffed into a meatball. I've never heard of those Scottish recipes. Just no blood or pork.

I commend Tahir’s spaghetti-spinning skills, without the spoon as it should be. I’m half-French half-Italian and I can tell you here in France a lot of people need to learn it as he says! 👍🏻🙏🏻

It is a privilege to be able to watch someone experience something for the first time. I thank all of you for this. It is fascinating to me to see the different perspectives on something so familiar to me. This was my first thought when I heard spaghetti referred to as Chinese vermicelli. Never thought of it that way before.

Hit a lousy Chinese restaurant in the US between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains, you are almost guaranteed to a lo mein or chow mein made with spaghetti rather than chinese noodles... part of why so many Americans in those parts hate Chinese food.
