Sincere? What? The exaggeration (like "put in a frame on the wall") of happiness and awe is the opposite of sincere. Seems more like they are putting on a show to fool the viewer. I know how they speak about us Westerners especially non-Muslims behind closed doors. It's an act. If you watch the reactions closely, it's quite clear they feel disgust at the food and the translation also makes it clear they are insulting the way we cook and eat between the lines (subtext). This is not respectful, it's an act. Don't get me wrong, there are Pakistanis who honestly try to make an effort and understand our (european) culture, but the Pakistanis who came here since 2015...EVERYONE knows what's going on. In the refugee camps, they would insult the European food (some even threw their plates on the ground or at other people...yeah, this is how hungry 'refugees' behave) and demand they cook something from Pakistan. Though most act nice and submissive when they want something (money, mattress, documents, ...) but as soon as they are out of the room or you turn your back on them, they insult you in their langauage, thinking you don't understand them. This is how they behave here, how they actually think about Western culture. I wonder what the purpose of videos like these is. Nobody can guarantee that they are actually trying to get to know our culture, but then this isn't even authentic, because it's not a native cooking these dishes.

Haha- make mine 2 ways ( different in liquid used - blend soups tomato base or a beef gravy type) Carrots, parsnip, onions layer a bottom of an oblong pot. Usually place a brown ( seared ) sirloin tip roast next. Surround with more vegies ( potato, onion, garlic, parsnip, *mushrooms ( sometimes 4 me ), then cover with liquid ( either a cream of mushroom, tomato and cream of celery soup blend made with half the water OR a beef liquid with Au Jus, broth, * gravy, Worcestershire - kind of thing ), add salt - pepper- dash Cayenne ( Chef John ) - onion n garlic powder, dash msg, Cook uncovered at 250 for most of the day adding soup when needed. Later turn up heat 325 or more and add a good amount of quality frozen peas on top and continue to cook. Essentially reduce liquid some and somewhat brown exposed peas. Love it. Serve with salt n pepper, cold beverage and bread or dinner rolls with butter. Sometimes a side Ceasar salad works too.

*Ahh, pot roast. A true comfort food, and the scent whilst cooking is mouth watering. Chaudhaury, Rana, Tahir, Ruquaiya, it is interesting that you can take the same ingredients and prepare them differently and it tastes totally different, isn't it? Corned beef and cabbage has same basic ingredients as pot roast, but with different spices and different cooking methods, they taste totally different! Pot roast is also easy to eat for those with tooth problems! The slow, long cooking makes tough meat so soft! Have you seen electric slow cookers, sometimes called crock pots? Thyme is what gives that aroma that is so wonderful. When I cook pasta sauce or enchilada sauce, it is always in a slow cooker, for at least 8 hours. Put it on in the morning, and come dinnertime, it is ready! Thahir, I could certainly use an amulet for good health, as I've been having some problems lately, more than the chronic issues of the foot/wrist.*

This was a Sunday family tradition for much of the United States.....it's been awhile since we have made it. Usually I add PEPPERONCINI peppers, onion soup mix, and maybe some gravy ingredients to the pot as well. You should show them "crock pots". We almost ALL have them in the southern US. and we use these exclusively just about to cook this. It's easy peasy throw it all in in the morning and pull it out at dinner, even us men can do it. I have a feeling they would find Crock Pots super useful at home there. It as an easy way to make tougher cheaper cuts of meat very tender, and melt in your mouth.

As all of them are enjoying this pot roast so much, I wish they were provided with the recipe and got to see a short video of how to prepare it. I’m sure some of them would want to make it themselves or have someone make it for them for a special occasion. This is pretty much how I learned to cook dishes from many countries: I was made to taste them, and was then kindly given the recipe and instructions. Now, depending on budget and availability of the ingredients, I make them myself. Pot roast isn’t very hard to make. Its most important ingredient is time. The same goes for many Indian and Pakistani dishes. I think especially the lady in this video would be very happy if she learned how to make many of the things she gets to try… and one of them, this pot roast. I’m even wondering if some of the things she tries, end up influencing her cooking to a certain degree. I remember when I was living in Southeast Asia as a child, the lady that helped in our household wasn’t familiar with Western cuisine. Over time, as she was teaching us her cooking, we taught her ours. One day her husband came to collect her after work and he thanked my mother for teaching her a dish: she’d prepared her own version of it for his family and they tremendously enjoyed it. I often thanked her over the years for teaching us her dishes and to this day I still make them.

I enjoy this channel. They’re always gracious and thankful to all god supplies. The pot roast you’re serving right now is the American version. I do believe from cooking Chanel’s that English pot roast is different. Pot roast is one of my favorite dinners.

My family loves Pot Roast meals on Sundays. We serve with bread (biscuits or rolls). Sometimes rice. It’s a family tradition. I hope beef chuck roast is available somewhere in their area so they can cook this and share with their families.

This meal was a Sunday special that we ate after going to church. Mom would leave the meal in a heavy cast iron pot on a slow oven and it was done when we got home from church. The house smelled wonderful😃😃😃😃😃🙏🏻🧒🏻👨🏻💁🏻👧🏻👦🏻👦🏻

Mr. Rana, I always eat my pot roast with bread (roti) as well. It goes great with the gravy.

The only thing missing is hot homemade biscuits to sop with. I make a thick gravy out of the juices once it's finished cooking. I add a packet of Beefy Onion soup mix and 1/4 to 1/2 cup of sifted flour slowly. Stir continuously while heat is on low until you get the consistency of gravy you desire. It is so good!

One of my favorites! I am so glad they liked it. I wish they could come and try our pot roast called Manhattan. Roast beef over white bread, mashed potatoes, and gravy. A very favorite dish here.
@prollins6443 Жыл бұрын
In the Midwest, we call that a beef combo. Same thing, meat, bread, mashed potatoes, and gravy. Simple, but so good!
@flamingpieherman9822 Жыл бұрын
I think that's actually called beef stew... Which is different from pot roast because pot roast is a combination of the potatoes, onions, carrots and meat. Whereas beef stew is actually stewed beef with onions over mashed potatoes...

That's interesting, I've never heard of anything like that being called a Manhattan (and I live about an hour from NYC). May I ask what region of the country you live in? It does sound like something that would have been popular here in diners in the 1960s-70s-80s.

@tedmartz444 , In the central states we call that dish a “hot beef sandwich.” Usually made with left over pot roast.

The combination and acceptance of different cultures, the lifestyles, the food and the beliefs is the best chance we have of survival on this planet. We can learn so much from each other and grow together. Make the connection with your neighbour's, it will enrich your life.

I loved the mom saying she would like to cook it for her family. Moms are the same around the world. I wish I could tell her this is a favorite of moms who are very busy or need to prepare dinner early in the day. They make it because it is very easy prep and has healthy food groups in one dish. I think she would appreciate that.

As wise as Tahir is, he is wrong, humans evolved by eating meat as it allowed the brain to develop, then when we invented fire and cooked meat, this made it easier to absorb and our brains grew and grew. We have meat to thank for our development past apes.

Haha- make mine 2 ways ( different in liquid used ) Carrots, parsnip, onions layer a bottom of an oblong pot.

Oh boy, pot roast! I try to make at least one each winter (warming comfort food). In addition to carrots, potatoes, and thyme, I also put onions, garlic, celery, a bit of tomato paste, beef broth, often rosemary and parsley, and sometimes also a good bit of red wine. Makes a great gravy over that long cooking time. You can substitute a tiny bit of vinegar or lemon juice if you can't use the wine for the acidity. Ok, thoroughly hungry now --- going to get lunch!

I usually make my Pot Roast with Pork as Beef is a bit pricier in my part of town, but it still makes a very great meal. For my vegetables I usually do mushrooms, potatoes, celery, carrots and green onions. I use my crock pot for 8 hours on low and I usually season with a packet of McCormick Pot Roast season blend with a mix of beef broth and brown gravy mix.
