39:48 I think you misunderstood this section. He wasn't saying that bts is better than everyone and therefore they are in a league of their own. He is saying that he thinks there needs to be a white boyband at the top and that bts doesn't qualify because they are Korean. He was essentially trying to sidestep army's getting mad at him but also sound "cool" still while being racist.

when you said that it seems army is the one that lights bts on fire in 9:20, i think you're wrong. all of those plagiarism and making fun of other groups accusations came from non-army kpop stans, it's why sometimes as army we seem like we're overly protective and aggressive, it's because at the time, we were the only people standing up for them.

I think you misunderstood at the 40:00 mark (not mad, just want to let you know) that pop group was saying they didn't think BTS should be nominated in the same pop categories as them, that BTS should be kept separate, because he believes a western or European group needs to be on top (the winners).

NGL That whole misogyny thing really got me. I remember first getting into them and hearing about this so I looked up the supposed offensive material and was kind of blown away by....how not misogynistic it was. I really appreciate that the guys response was to pay closer attention to things and get objective opinions....but the fact that some mistranslated lyrics and antis made a non-problem into a problem just.....really gets me. Because there is a ton of truly misogynistic material out there and to target the guys with accusations like that simply because some whiny little brat doesn't like them? Just really gets to me and annoys me each time. 😶 I get what you mean by knowing someone went through hardships though. Never wish that on someone but to see someone go through those things and come out stronger is...inspiring. The underdog story kinda thing. Edit : Cause I paused on the misogyny accusations to type that because it really does irritate me but YES, like I get looking up to artists/celebs who are good and worth looking upto but the way people just....act like they aren't people and deserve to deal with that level of hate or prying into their personal lives, its always driven me insane. Like let them breathe and have their privacy, just appreciate the work they put out for us. The death threats thing is.....just another level. To go that far because you dislike a group of artists....just something messed up with you seriously. Edit Edit : Sorry for all the edits... but wanted to clarify on that part with that one boyband that said "BTS can be on their own" and you were like facts, he wasn't really complimenting them. The guy was saying BTS can exist in their own sphere while a white/american boyband actually remained on "top". I agree BTS are kind of in a sphere on their own but that guy didn't mean it as a compliment, especially since he goes on to say he can't get into them because he "can't understand what they say"
@MystiqueRisingSun Жыл бұрын
I paused to come down and say basically the same thing about the whole misogyny part! Glad I read some comments first. That shit still pisses me off. Like...even WITH those mistranslated lyrics, I still saw nothing wrong with them! While they do usually go for more serious topics, what's wrong with young men singing/rapping about a beautiful woman and having...*GASP*...hormones? The anti's were trying to pull it off like they were so pure that they never felt that way about someone. As for the privacy...YES!!!! Speaking ONLY of dating, I mean...I WOULD love to know if they're dating, when they're dating...but I certainly don't need to know WHO. It would be nice if they were able to share that, though...to know that they ARE normal, 20-something year old MEN. (Let's face it...we know they are, or, well, at least...we know they HAVE...dated. They ARE human!) Anyway, how does that effect their JOB? I mean, I've never once heard of an instance where a singer/dancer couldn't, you know, sing/dance, just because they were in a relationship... I won't even go into the privacy issue when it comes to those who try to sneak into their hotels, apartments, etc. That's just...insane. Sadly, with as popular as they are, it happens, so their safety is a major concern at times. I'm just glad BH/HYBE protects them by doing what they can to prevent it from happening, as well as that they do actually go after those who try to the fullest extent of the law when needed!
@em5522 Жыл бұрын
@@MystiqueRisingSunhe dating thing gets me, ngl. Like *_why_* can it not be normalized by everyone to let the guys (or anyone, really) have the agency to choose when and if to tell us abt their private lives, including who they date? If it's not part of their jobs and isn't hurting anybody, then no one outside of the ppl it involves is entitled to knowing that information. As a fan, I'd much rather hear personal news from the guys willing to talk abt it and feeling comfortable enough with us to tell us themselves.

01:07:02 What you have to understand here is that Jin being the oldest in the group, was the baby at home (he has a big brother). So "suddenly" being the responsible one, taking care of younger "brothers" took a toll on him in a way he realized he wasn't home anymore and he had to step up for the challenge. And that he did beautifully. As he's fulfilling his military service as the top of the top :)
@loretopg Жыл бұрын
Jin its such a beautiful human being, and as you said, he step up beautifully, he is so humble and dignified that you had and have to watch him very carefully and you will see how things affects him in a good or a bad way and how he let go of things in order to be his best version for his brothers. And slowly but surely you perceive how his message about life permeate the boys just as much as president Namjoon 😊 message does. I am sorry about my English, is not my first language. Its just that I wanted to share what I think and admire about this wonderful boy who grew up to be an even more wonderful man and role model to his beloved brothers and how slowly but surely, his brothers, beautiful souls that they are, understood his message (like that video clip in which Jimin talked about Jin in such a lovely way, for example).

On 13th june I got my NEET result and scored 621/720. I'm finally going to med school this time! Last year I couldn't make it due to 10 marks less than cut off and that was a breakdown for me. This time I'm really happy as I made it on 10th anniversary itself! BTS is not just a kpop boy band but an emotion for people who are connected to it ofc its army. I discovered them two years ago by dynamite and I guess it's the best thing that happened to me in years. The amount of respect, love and appreciation I have for these boys is too high. They were my comfort source in these preparatory years. I couldn't make it last year but I always said to myself that I have to make it happen no matter what. I promised myself to achieved my goals and be a better person till my boys reward me with a grand comeback. I usually prefer to be a casual listener not a fan or something and I tried the same with them initially as well. But I couldn't resist these talented, jolly, handsome people who really shower their fans with so much love and support....

“That’s probably why their connection is so strong, cause they had to weather that storm together” one thousand percent! No one understands their hardships (probably even more than what was shown on the vid) then THEM themselves. As army we can acknowledge and do our best to support and protect them. But the members are who they can lean on daily, cry with, hurt with, and push forward with everyday. They’re stronger as artists and as a unit because of what they’ve overcome together.

Even though I personally do not hold grudge with any fandom, even if they spout nonsense about these boys, I just can't help but feel some kind of hosility towards the Exols. I know not everyone of them was bad but the issue is that the fandom let it happen. They were the ones always spreading rumors about BTS, making fun of them, of their looks, just because Exo members were more handsome in their eyes. I do not blame EXO but I really wish we could have gotten an apology from the fandom. Everytime we discuss this matter in videos of hardship of BTS, if someone mentions exols attitude of past, there will always be one of them coming to defend the disgusting activities of that fandom. Anyways it feels refreshing to see your reaction videos where someone actually puts their input and share their thoughts about the matter. It is interesting to me how people can express their thoughts in different wordings!!! Hope you become huge one day!

@@aishwaryaahirrao no it is not exactly immature, but I am just someone who does not have the strength to hold grudges against such monsters who just hide behind the screen and send hate and threats to others just because of their jealousy. The only thing I want is that hopefully this life will teach them a lesson that how words hurt someone, I want them to feel the insecurity deep in their heart, I want them to feel threatened about their life just like how they send death threats to artists just because they feel like it. Life is beautiful and not something which we should waste on disgusting acts like this. It is sensible to not forgive people and there is nothing wrong with that. You were hurt in the process and you have the right to decide whether to forgive them or not. I'll forever be thankful for older ARMY who were around because those years (toughest years seemingly 2015-2017) were really rough. As far as the "misogynistic" lyrics... oi... it's a dual issue - one bad translations and two... just media and anti's using it to be performative. The song in question will forever be one of my favorites, and we haven't heard it live in so long 😥 I can already imagine your dumbfoundedness when you see the lyrics in question.

it’s interesting bc the rise of bangtan shows how other artists of kpop were treated and viewed by their companies, and then it shows how bts was treated by big hit, as humans and not machines, who put the effort bc they wanted to and not bc they were forced to as, sadly, happened w those other kpop artists. i think that’s one of the most important things that made bts, well, bts, and allowed them to grow organically as individual artists and as a band. (also, the rise of bangtan includes lots of spoilers of their albums and songs, so i’d recommend to proceed w caution hahahh and if u want to have a more complete experience meanwhile listening their albums i’d watch the practice dances/choreos of their songs if they have one. if you’d like that) thank you for the content! as always it’s truly amazing

There are so many people who benefit from BTS’ success but will vehemently deny that BTS is making the path easier for others to succeed. These same people are also content in allowing BTS to be the face of K-POP when it comes to receiving the bulk of the hate, racism and xenophobia. Imagine how much more success they could achieve if there wasn’t a constant line of people and businesses actively trying to make them fail?

As a 2016 ARMY, I got so burnt out back in the day on Twitter seeing all the nonstop hate from antis that I still to this day don't use really use the platform, or I stay away from kpop Twitter completely. I'll never forget when BTS was attacked for using the word "naega" a common word in Korean that means "you", because it sounds like the n word here. Fucking exhausting talking to people who were saying WELL IT SOUNDS LIKE A BAD WORD HERE THEY SHOULDNT SAY IT AT ALL

Ever since I’ve become an ARMY it really feels like BTS keep being put through the ringer, and as a fan, and someone who looks up to them and is inspired by them it’s hard to see, especially knowing that it’s worse for them behind the scenes than just what we’re exposed to second hand. I became an ARMY in 2018. Three months before the White Paper Project was released. It was experiencing everything bad but also good all at once right off the bat, but I think it reinforced a protective side of me for them immediately while showing me what it meant to be an ARMY and how strong the community was that had been built around the unstoppable force that is BTS. It felt like being a part of something bigger than just a fan of a music group. When BTS go through these hardships ARMY often shoulder them with the band hoping to alleviate and do what we can, so a lot of these things feel personal even to me. One thing I can say from watching them endure and thrive in the last 5 years I’ve been here, no matter what they’re put through, they only ever seem to come out of it even stronger. As much as I wish I could take all the pain away and prevent these things from having ever happened, it’s a HUGE part of their success story and who they are. They are truly incredible and inspiring humans. Their genuine and humble attitudes and vulnerable transparency in them being themselves and just normal everyday humans who make music and will continue to propel them forward.

agreed! like seeing all the different kinds of twitter hate real time was appalling because it wasn't just a couple of people, it seemed like there were always big communities dedicated to making the boys suffer and it's sad that it was bad enough that bts now comment on receiving trauma from it.

The name being blurred in the video is EXO a group from one of the big 3 kpop entertainment companies. Their fans has always been vile towards bts. Their fans was the one who planned the break the wings project, making fun of taehyung's grandma and they were also one of the fandoms that accused bts of chart manipulation when they won their 1st music show win. They filed a petition to the blue house to take back bts' daesang(grand prize) during the award show. They were one of the fandoms that trended the plagiarism hashtag against bts.

*About song "War of hormones" controversy:* so..let me clear the misunderstanding k-popies hv and few Armys hv about this song which was blown out of proportion by h@ters & Antis to create drama that time, which worked cuz k-popies & media latched on it... *This is going to long a$$ comment* Let's be real, War of Hormones wasn't misogynistic. It was just an honest song about what guys in that age range go through. They were straight up saying that they struggle with their hormones when they see a pretty girl, *and guess what? That's just being honest.* 👁️👄👁️ The title itself gives a clear idea to how they see it. A war. An internal conflict. And it's true to what guys in their late teens and early 20s go through. Bangtan has always been about talking about their experiences and being a voice of people their age. The entire album, Dark & Wild, was really just about the turmoils of young adulthood. In the title of the album too, you can already tell what the sentiment was going to be. The first 3 albums spoke about school and issues of teens. And then from there, the darker days of coming to terms with adulthood. And then the HYYH series. Everything was thematic with stories they wanted to tell as they go through life. Antis and fans of other groups were just grasping at straws to find something to shit on and unfortunately the media picked up on it and then some ARMY took it as truth and they themselves started talking as if the song was offensive. It isn't. We need to stop spreading this story as if BTS were misogynistic boys who needed to learn a lesson. Yes, Namjoon has learned a lot from the experience and has gone out of his way to speak to experts in women's studies, but I'm sure that whole ordeal also caused him unnecessary pain. *Now, My personal take on this:* I don't see anything wrong with the lyrics of the song. All boys go through puberty and the things BTS sung in this are just reflective of their experience going through that phase in their lives. This is the reason I love them and their songs.. they didn't hide anything and covered all the feelings/thoughts of a person who is in his/her adolescent...one can see them growing up from then till today…I personally don't find the lyrics offensive and “most” Armys as well..as I agree they are expressing the struggles of dealing with hormonal changes in adolescence, and I'm sorry but sexual attraction is the number one pressing issue in most hormonal teens regardless of gender. There's a couple of issues I take with people who found this offensive. First, the double standard. You can't tell me young women were purely innocent in their thoughts and feelings as they watched these young men dance and sing, they just didn't make a song about it, at least not publicly. Secondly, the entire concept BigHit wanted from BTS is a representation of the youth culture and the issues youth deal with as seen and heard through the lyrics and music of BTS, and of course everyone has or will experience sexual attraction. Yes, they refer to see through clothing and high heels etc, but I've seen hundreds of posts referring to JK's abs, Jimin's body rolls and shoulder "accidents" Tae's tongue...you get the idea, and while many comments aren't necessarily teens it's not a problem. There can only be an issue if the lyrics were implying that I'm only attracted to girls who wear heels and sheer clothing, not sneakers and sweats. Anyone who has experienced adolescence knows however that if they're sexually attracted to someone the person could easily walk around in a potato sack and an adolescent would still be entranced. A lot of people were offended by that line, "Girls are equations and us men just do them". Personally, I took it as "do them" meant they were puzzles to be solved, not a sexual act. RM was honestly shocked that people were offended by the lyrics and that they could be considered misogynistic. It was definitely a learning experience for him. He apologized and has since run his lyrics through a few professionals in women's studies before releasing a new song. They don't really release songs like this any more. *But to that a korean Army said translation in English were a bit off, which lead to misunderstandings and explained it saying : “I was kinda surprised it's translation was "do" because that part "do them" CAN actually sound offensive to some people, because the meaning of that word 'do' is not clear. However I can clearly say that it's not meant that way, and Korean version lyrics tell that. Words are more specific, and not controversial in Korean version lyrics, because it doesn't say 'do. That part in Korean is 여자들은 방정식 우리 남자들은 해 which says we men are 해 is a word for mathematics, and it means the 'answer/the final number'. So it means they solve. the complex minds of the girls. 해 DOES have the meaning of 'do' too, but its not appropriate to translate this part of the lyrics that way, because if u say it means "do them, it doesn't fit the sentence there. Since there's no Objectives for that Verb 'do' and that's... kinda awkward. plus. the context and meaning of the whole sentence is talking abt mathematics and Equations so what u said is true. It doesn't mean sexual way”* it's freaking mistranslation, if you don't belive me ask any korean, not only k-army but any Korean.. it was done to sabotage BTS's career..💀 BTS hv made few mistakes unknowingly early in their career and said things which can be considered offensive, as they were young but they hv re-educated themselves, apologized and never repeated the mistakes again..but I hv seen many k-popies and so called Multi Armys twisting many things because of that..take for example this song.. it's blown out of the proportion just to cause drama..and they were sadly successful in that..haters/antis tried every lil thing to bring BTS down & sabotage their career ngl..

Seeing you watch and learn this was validating because my reaction was yours except in real time (I’ve been an army since late 2015 so I’ve seen it all 😅). The melon call center call is always a favorite of mine… so sad that they cut the call center person going “it’s internal data. I-N-T-E-R-N-A-L.” I’ve been loving the journey you’ve been going on and appreciate your interest in not only the members group/individual projects, but the history as well. Seeing someone genuinely enjoy and love the music, and not use army views for attention has been refreshing and please know it is so appreciated by all of us on Twitter. 💜 Hope you continue to enjoy and have fun on your journey as an army 💜

Well the Deathtreats came from EXOL'S (fandom of EXO) one of the most toxic fandoms(not all of them but a big part) this fandom even ask to the agency to kick out to one of Exo's member only because he became father but behind all of them are SM ENTERTAINMENT Exo's agency , they're well known for been rude and NOT transparent, even with their own artist, they never support and take care of them. For example the last month three members of EXO started legal actions against their own agency. They are really good guys, very talented and friends of BTS . Another toxic , anti fandom( BTS haters) are the BLINKS, (BLACK PINK fandom) ( not all of them but a big part) . Anyways these are just VERY FEW EXAMPLES OF HATE , RACISM , DISCRIMINATION, XENOPHOBY they goes through it get worst outside of Korea. But we ARMY we'll be always there to protect and suport them .💜💜💜💜

Pausing the video real quick to say I absolutely love OT7 and will defend them even after the day comes when they may no longer be doing music (which I hope is very, very far in the future). I have to say my Hobi biased heart took full appreciation of your reaction to the horrible hashtags made about him early on. I don’t know how people can hate on these 7 men for no legitimate reason. They just want to make music and spread a good message. We need good people like them in the world, there is already too much that is not good. Anyway, back to the video for me. I’ve only watched the hardships video once until today watching it with you, And I still fast forwarded. It makes me sick and sad for them. How can you bully someone as precious and hardworking and humble as them, when they’re just young boys?Mad respect for them and the ARMY who endured with them and for them, if not for that I wouldn’t have found them when I finally did. Sometimes people are just so hateful and miserable. I’m blessed and thankful to live in the time of BTS, I wish I could’ve been there from day one but I know I’ll support and love from here on out💜

Heyyy! I love this deep dive of bangtan content that you're showing us, and watching you journey further into BTS is amazing. I just thought i'd let you know to avoid watching the "Rise of Bangtan" series as the creator was uncovered (through twitter) to have done and said some questionable things, amongst lying and hiding certain things pertaining to the boys, and their history, in multiple videos. It's hard navigating through army youtube as there are a lot of videos that have misinformation about bts or even flat out lies. I hope you don't fall bait into those, and it will be hard i can't lie, But i hope you have a fun time learning more about bts on your army journey regardless. I'm looking forward to your content, as it is so much more natural and REAL compared to other 'reactors'. 💜💜

And about rise of bangtan,we can see how other artists and their company were and there’s bangtan and bighit,completely different,maybe that’s the big reason why their bond,success and music is untouchable,they were treated as human,given freedom of artistic expression and I am so grateful for that 💜💜

25:05 to add: the shirt situation didn't just cause cancelations of broadcasts. "conservatives" makes it sound lighter than it was but bts and jimin specifically were harassed by essentially japanese neo-nazis, not to mention japanese armys were threatened for liking bts. the shirt jimin wore represented the end of japans colonial rule over korea and sk/japan have never had a great relationship.

01:03:24 If you compare, these girls loathed the time as trainees. Whereas whenever you hear bangtan speak abou tit, they say of course it was hard, but they are grateful for it. Even trainees that didn't make it, people who shared months and maybe years around with the 7 members, they are not bitter, they don't show any remorse about not being selected or having "spent" their time for nothing. So BigHit was doing something right. The usual trainee boarding school she's talking about is not the poor version, but having 2-3 roommates from the get go. Not being squeezed in a 10 sq feet room with 6 other guys.
