It's funny because the song Lie is asking to be set free, to be released from the lie. But Set Me Free is not asking, he's taking his freedom no matter what anyone thinks. It shows jimins progression as a person. He struggled alot in the earlier years with trying to be hyper-masculine to match their hip hop sound and now he's finally who he wants to be 💜

The thing with the autotune is like a representation of that push and pull between their "personas", it's not like he's relying on it but more like he's trying to make a point in an artistic way, plus bts usually do this (black swan, interlude: shadow, etc) like a representation of dark thoughts, emotions, personas, etc. His upcoming album is called FACE so it makes sense. His voice is really amazing and he's a fenomenal dancer, I'm so excited. ps: BTS are amazing artistas man, they are not afraid to try new challenges as a group or soloists so you never get bored.

the song was actually released as a hiphop track which is why he uses autotune like god intended: to distort for an eerie effect not to correct bad vocals. the vocals under the distortion are clean as the summer sky. this call and response between distortion and clean gave me chills

The auto tune is used to indicate his hardware which wants to continue , to go on with flow while his real voice indicates his software which wants to be freed and to fly away like a butterfly. The song is like a conversation between both these part of him. Untill the last part the lyric "set me free" was sung in his real voice and in the last part u can hear " set me free" sung by auto tune voice which implies his hardware also accepted his inner wish to grow out of cocoon , to fly away as a butterfly and set himself free. The visual at that part when he is thrown upwards to the camera implies that he finally got freed.

Autotune can be used for so many reasons but in this song and many I Bts songs it is usually used to play another character/persona or just the conflict discussions they are having with/in their head/minds. All members have solo songs. Set Me Free pt. 2 is going to be on his upcoming album Face, that will be released next week. So, this is a prelease song before the album drops. Other solo songs by Jimin: Lie, Filter, Serendipity, Promise, and Christmas Love. Fun facts: In an interview with Jimin: When the track list of the album was revealed, many noticed that the prerelease single was designated as “pt. 2” despite the fact that Jimin doesn’t have any existing song to his name titled “Set Me Free”. He confirmed that it’s a nod to a track on bandmate Suga’s second mixtape, D2. “There isn’t a connection, and we weren’t trying to divide one or two parts,” he explains. “But since it turns out my song talks about freedom and moving forward, and Suga’s song talks about some of the stories that come before, I thought it would be good to come after that.” (Credit go to-Shreya Negi) The poem Jimin has written on his body is in German and by a famous poet called Rainer Maria Rilke. The poem is called ‘I live my life in widening circles’ and was written in 1899. Set me free it's actually a surprise and something new to hear autotune that way in his voice for us too, his voice tends to make very high notes. Jimin has a beautiful voice, he has another songs inside BTS where only he sings called "Filter", and outside BTS another song called "With you" are very quiet songs actually, like I said, this style is completely new to him. If you listen to BTS songs where Jimin's voice stands out a lot I recommend you, Disease, Film out, Dynamite, Pied Piper, Blue and Grey.

jimin rapping on Set Me Free pt2 was actually a surprise to us ARMYs because as you can see, he's a singer so to see him rapping like that was different and we ate it up it's so good. it was something new and fresh, another side of jimin we were shown. the two other songs you listened to, lie and serendipity, are the songs he usually does, with this new album (coming out on Friday) he gets to be more creative with it as it his own and not with bts. I'm so excited to see what more jimin has in store for us and we're rooting for him all the way

Jimin was one of the contributors to Lie and it is one of my absolute favourite songs. It's even sadder when you know that the Lie he is caught in is the one his mind has been telling him. I see Set Me Free and it's theme as a link to Lie. One part of the choreography in Set Me Free is also a reference to Lie. He also included a lyric from the BTS song ON in Set Me Free. Serendipity was written by RM for Jimin. His live performances for both Serendipity and Lie are legendary. What I find so impressive and scary about Jimin is that unique voice of his. When they debuted he hadn't officially had voice lessons! He just had such natural talent and he's now honed it so amazingly.

09:20 if you like Lie, the producer docskim is brilliant, and he recently produced Wildflower for RM, thanks to that he regained his passion for making music. He's seen in several BTS lives as the keyboardist ^^ Having said that, Jimin with this lyrics went crazy. The choreo is insanely good. There is a move with the hands up (you saw it in the introduction to all 7, when he was blindfolded) that he uses in Set me free pt 2. AND it has nothing to do with Set me free by AgustD but since one member had that title already, he went for pt 2. You have to listen to SUGA's one too. One of my favorite songs from him with Dear my friend and 28.

Good to see you again! Thank you for reacting to Jimin this time - you had trouble finding more solo music from Jimin because he is releasing his first solo album next week (the song Set me free pt. 2 is a pre-released song from the said album). Though he has solo songs (like all other members) which are part of the group release. If you want to listen to more of his solos I would say go for: Filter, Promise, and Christmas Love (Lie, Serendipity - that you checked - and Filter has all various live performances, I think you would enjoy watching them a lot!). Also, when it comes to vocals I think Jimin (and Jin) shine especially when they sing their Japanese songs - If I could recommend you my 2 favorites I would say check out live performances of "Your Eyes Tell" and "Film Out" - the vocals are heavenly. Also, I'm so happy you acknowledged autotune for what it is - an artistic tool. Ah, and this song is full of references that make ARMY shake - the butterfly refers to their other song called "Butterfly" where they sing about fear of losing someone (be it a friend, loved one, or even fans or themselves), the choreography is call out to the songs ON and LIE. But the thing that hit the most is simply looking back at his career and growth as an artist. The statement "(I) set me free" is hitting us hard and makes us so, so happy!

I love your vibe and journey into bts :D and as a Jimin bias I am so happy you came in at this time to witness Jimin's first solo album!
