This is the first 2014 Spurs tribute video that gave me chills. This is the video where I felt the PASSION! On all the other videos, I was naught but a passenger, along for the ride, but not really feeling it. I felt it here. I felt the emotion, the emotion of what every. single. guy felt on the floor there for 105 games. What I felt was a sense of selflessness, that what you hold in your hands is precious, and that you would rather give it to your teammate so HE can score. It's the same as if you were dying of thirst, and you would 100% rather give it to your teammate to save his life over your own. That's what they felt, every single pass. You could see it, how there were no hesitations, no reluctance to part with the rock. You know, it's easy to talk the talk and say how unselfish you are, and that when it comes down to it, you'd do the right thing. But it's not that easy, to subdue your own ego, and give the chance to someone else. Even the best has trouble with it, because no matter how much they say they want to play team ball, the individual ego still exists, and the best can still succumb to it when it comes down to it. Well, the Spurs didn't have to face those demons, because they don't exist. They truly, honestly, swear to god operated without any sense of SELF in this season. There was only the Team, and there was never any doubt about it.

You see some these plays over and over again, but they never get old. Could you imagine an entire NBA game where two teams play this kind of basketball? That would drive a purest of the game crazy!

You know this team really transcends basketball if you think about it. A lot of the traits most of these players have apply so much in the real world. The ability to believe in a system and not overstepping your role. Not focusing on yourself rather focus on your mates. It's all about the unit and rather than the individual. The first thing kawhi did after they won the finals was go up to pop and thank him for pushing him to be his best. And yes I do believe having mental toughness and grit is one of the greatest traits anyone can possess. Being intelligent is great but when things go wrong, it's all about how you respond and not be beaten down in the face of adversity. If you display the need to always improve, you will find out what kind of inner strength you have. The Spurs in my opinion are the greatest model of consistency and class in basketball and also in terms of structure. Business can really learn a thing or two from their model, if they want to see maximum productivity.

+Bossman5998 Brilliant comment. The San Antonio Spurs are the epitome maximum productivity being efficient as a team and a unit. Thus making this the best NBA organization in all major professional sports with the best winning percentage as a franchise .614.

I think that this video is great because it really gets to the heart of what the spurs are, and that's more than just an organization and a basketball team, it's a way of life, a system to be mimicked and copied. I'm really happy I found this video, and am really happy you took time to make and post this on KZbin. Thank you kind sir!

I've seen this video several times, and I grew up with the spurs 1998 through 2016 and the undying chemistry that the team had through that time period was admirable for lack of a better word. I think arguably at that time one of the greatest sports team in the world and I think Pop should go down as the greatest coach in sports history.

if you call 8 years of work and struggle to completely reshape the offense of a team luck, then sure it's luck. some say game 1 was lucky, but games 3, 4, and 5 proved that game 1 was not luck, and this showing by the Spurs is going to make several top tier teams completely restructure their defense to handle this style of offense
@kylethompson587110 жыл бұрын
well to be fair luck is a part of life, that being said in Texas luck is: Sean Eliot hitting that 3 in 99, luck is Tim wide ass open and hitting a game saving 3 to put the ever so great suns away in the plays 08, Sugar K missing a clutch free throw, Manu missing a three point play opportunity that's luck. Taking Duncan out and putting all your faith in to Manu to rebound over Bosh now that is stupidity. This year was not luck it was team work heart love vindictive will and the love for what basketball truly is. James Naismith once said "I have made a game to witch one man can take over and tip the tied, but if that is so then what happens when all 5 men on the other side of the court share the same brain, I'll tell you they are the true masters of my game" btw the Spurs "O" is model after a(n) office {1934} deemed unworthy of today's game....

This is why it makes me sick to see today's NBA where a guy will dribble dribble dribble and then jack up a step back 3. It doesn't have tip be that easy. The way they move the ball is simply beautiful.

i agree with a comment on the volume of the music. music works well for the most part, though there are sections where the music almost overpowers the voice. the charm of this video is the narration, because great Spurs video is now all over the place. but the great stories through narration are more sparse, and this is a terrific narrative, and good voice. and it shouldn't be compromised. it's not egregiously compromised, but it is nevertheless. hope this is helpful.

***** I don't see how you can say that's not true. Almost all of the in-game video is the same, up to the exact same clips being in slow motion as in the Colin Stanton videos, and the same sequence with the same transition in 6:25-6:45. I can go on, but listing everything would take pages. Not that it's necessarily bad to rearrange and add your own spin to it, but at least own up to it.
