Trimp is right. If done correctly you can take on entire teams. It's all about aim and keeping distance. Tri-stringer is superior to reef-lux as well.

The Stringer slowly stumbles its way through and begins to survey the battlefield. Enemies forget its presence as the game has only begun, their only focus to take down opposing Slayers and Skirmishers before pushing. The emotions quickly turns into panic as arrows rain and chip them down whilst having to deal with the threat in front. Soon the game's pace accelerates, bringing everyone to a slow frenzy. People become more daring, more reckless and step over their boundaries. And the Stringer waits for this exact opportunity. *With all three arrows aligned, the sound that no one can hear but only you can listen to plays.* *_And the Stringer shall perforate their entire being._*

Well that explains why on a match I make 25 kills (it's muy record) with the tri-stringer.

The fact is, people try this weapon for a few games and dump it because they don’t understand it. I’ve exclusively played the tri-slinger (and to a lesser degree the reef-LUX) and went from 5kills-10deaths on average to 15kills-5deaths on average. Im by no means a fantastic splatoon player, but this weapon has made me significantly better then I ever was compared to how I was in splatoon 2.

YES! I improved after playing the stringer class and it even opened me up to chargers. I love stringers for their flexibility in some aspects.

So many awesome arc shoots! Those comments at the beginning are clearly people who played it like it was a charger for a bit then decided it was bad. Though saying that I have a bad habit of snapping my aim like a charger instead of more steadily tracking.

Tristringer really is underrated. It's not that chargers that outrange it are better by default either, it just plays different. Yes, it's like a charger, but can chargers shoot over walls? NO Sloshers can go over walls, but do they have that range or accuracy? NO Can any other weapon shoot explosive projectiles? NO (Explosher doesn't count because the whole thing is an explosion) Can chargers paint that much? NO Really it just plays different and even though it's not a weapon I'd ever use, I respect it and the players who use it. Underrated weapon for sure

0:13 Like the other ones, I get it cause they don’t know how to use the weapon so they think it’s bad. But this one, “brain dead, no skill”? Wouldn’t that mean that literally anyone could pick it up and win? Cause that’s the opposite of what’s happening here. The main reason so many people hate this weapon is because of its steep learning curve. :/ This person must get got by tri-stringers pretty often if he thinks it’s an easy weapon to get kills off of.

The reason Tri Stringer has so much potential is because if you utilize the arch to the fullest you can get any splat in almost any situation. Max distance high archs prevent the opponent from retreating not only because of the explosions cutting off their retreat, but also because by the time the arrows land you already have another set of arrows knocked and on the way. At mid ranges the one charge has a potential to one shot with a well aimed jump shot but is also charged fast enough to provide spamming mini bombs that overwhelm a pusher. Even more extreme is at very close range, while obviously not as good as other close range weapons due to their role as close range weapons, still has the potential to two shot within 1 meter or so on top of it's relatively quick tap firing.

Also forgot to mention that the explosions are more than enough chip to deal with opponents who are already weakened on top of removing any of their retreat opportunity

As someone who is still working on aim and can't land these one shoots( :( ) I also noticed how the tristringer is kind of nice when your in close quarters 1v1 especially against a weapon that has a direct line of fire, you can circle or avoid their line of ink while still hitting them with your weapon since it has three instead of one fire off point. (this was hard to explain) also I really hope I can get good at the types of shots you showed in this video :)

I am trying to main this weapon since I got this game but the results are rather bad for me if I'm honest. My win rate has been really bad in this game and I'm just not happy with my overall performance. But I'll keep trying. Mabye one day it will pay off

congrats on 1k subs! every video makes me even more stubborn to play tri-stringer. can i ask about your positioning? where do you usually start going for picks distance wise vs aiming for map control. this weapon is so fun to play 😆

whenever i want to go for picks its usually at a farther distance and safer position since it's more of a time and resources commitment to go for one shots. whenever i try to spam for map control i'm closer to the frontline so that i can make use of shorter charges to spam faster. basically its a play pattern of forcing enemies out of their positions and into areas where i can pick them off more easily along with the rest of my team

i've been playing tri-stringer for a few days now and what i've come to figure out is the kit looks very mismatched, but can be VERY deadly in closing off an opponent or area. in inkblot i can hold off an enemy or two from the side areas by putting down some mist and shooting the bottles around the exit until either i splat them, or my teammate comes to support if it's something like duallies that are quicker.

The only buff tri-stringer needs is that the explosions can activate termal ink, so we could have 2 types of tri-stringer 1 for poking and the other for killing

if i remember correctly from experience, reg charger is slightly faster, but tristringer doesnt always need to full charge which makes up for it

Amazing gameplay and editing! I started playing tristringer only yesterday and got 10 splats and 1 death in my 2nd ranked match with it!! And I have fallen in love with it! Quick question: does the charge determine the range? I could only shoot at my farthest range or close-range…but with charge it seems like you are modulating the distance along with the spread

I think people needs to understand the role of the weapon on this mode and what it's capable of. (keyword : "low inking potential". No, i don't think so. I often get "n°1 zone inker" with it)

It’s a really good weapon but MAN is it hard to use. Brought this thing up to 3* freshness and I still can’t hit jump shots consistently. Grounded shots, even though they (at least in theory) would be worse at instakills since they’re horizontal instead of vertical, still feel easier to hit.

The tri-stringer is the thing that made me wish I had a capture card because of its sick factor. It's so hard to transfer every capture using QR codes.

Combination of the replay mode + the Switch's built-in video capture should do nicely (you probably don't need the full match, either)

Have you tried transfering your captures via USB? That's actually possible too, the only hurdle is it has to be with a PC and connect to the USB-C port at the bottom of the Switch. You can also send multiple captures that way!

The thing isn't that it's a 'bad' weapon. It's just that it's outclassed in many ways by chargers IMO. It's SO incredibly fun to play for me (even though I suck with it) but it's a fact that you need to work SO HARD to have similar results to other weapons like chargers and such. At least imo. I feel like it would be MUCH more 'consistent' with two minor changes: Make the fully charged shot hit closer to one another (less spread, both when you're jumping and not), so it's easier to aim all of them at one target and give it a bit more range on the half-charged shots (the ones with large spread and that still fire the explosive arrows), so it's easier to use them as area denial and poke/chip dmg with your mist secondary (I'm pretty sure that you can actually throw the mist secondary farther than you can shoot a half-charged shot)

The main thing Tri-Stringer needs is a better kit, Toxic Mist doesn't really help much and while Killer Wail 5.1 isn't bad it fits better on a weapon that can pursue it's targets as otherwise it's too easy to dodge, I feel like Burst Bomb + Ink Vac would be pretty close to the best kit

Try using toxic mist to discourage your enemies to stop following you or to limit their space You can use killer wail and toxic mist right after to slow them down as well as the lazers and you shooting directly at them if they get close. I think its a pretty oppressive kit with toxic mist and killer wail causing a bit of displacement especially towards other backliners that out range you. It allows you to get closer to them to deliver the final blow.
