Lyrics:
I was born in the mountains where the earth courts the wind
The clouds standing sentry over all of my kin
Poor mother left me and my father alone
She left me to lead them when I am grown
I make like the wind and I travel the earth
One day to return to the place of my birth
Return as a master of water and flame
The valleys to know me, and the wind speak my name
The colors of Autumn cascade down his back
I’ve such little time to attain what I lack
The courage and grace that’s required of me
How grand, these illusions of what I can be
For I am young
I am weak
I am unworthy of the faith they place in me
Voice as meek and frail as a zephyr
I’ve seen through the eyes of the wolf and the lark
I’ve faced mighty dragons and friends of the dark
I’ve conquered the trials of earth, fire, and sea
And yet I am blind to the woman they see
They tell me I’m worthy, they tell me I’m strong
In spite of my failings they keep me along
They sing me my praises and swear that they’re true
And say that they’ll sing them till I learn the tune
So I’ll be bold
I’ll be strong
I’ll be the leader my home can rely upon
Help me find my voice, o' tempest
I am the waters and I am the flame
I am the thunder and I am the rain
Heed me o' forest, and heed me o' plains
Heed my call
Fear is a river, but I’m in control
Doubt is a current that ebbs and flows
Fierce as the hail and as gentle as snow
Oh, can you hear it?

“They sing me my praises, and swear that they’re true, and say that they’ll sing them until I learn the tune.” You got a way with words. Was genuinely wondering how someone with such a deep baritone could pull off such a feminine character, and you did it. You’ve got such a great ear for capturing these characters voices, and that line dang near made me cry. It’s honestly just a really powerful message and kind of made me think of how I can apply that to my life and help my friends when they’re down. CR community is lucky to have you.

And yet again, you've managed to make me burst into tears with your magnificent art. The lines "I've conquered the trials of earth, fire and sea, and yet I am blind to the woman they see" not only PERFECTLY describe keyleth as a character, but also speak to me on such a personal level I've not encountered in a song for years. Thank you for this, I'll sing this song for the rest of my life!

Hi there! As someone who has only seen the animated series and knows minimal background info of the campaigns…what exactly is the Voice of the Tempest? Who would want to live thousands of years? What is the consequence of just rejecting to go on an Aremente and rejecting to become the Tempest? And why was Keyleth chosen was there a specific reason?
@thewallie3
@thewallie3 8 ай бұрын
The Voice of the Tempest is a title to a person that has finished their Aremente by visiting all their sister tribes and passing a trial in each. Becoming the leader of all the tribes in the process. When she started on the trial, she was young and very naive. The idea of living a thousand years had not really set in her mind because that is a different thing to conceptualize. Consequences...that I'm not sure on. It seems that she was pushed into it pretty heavily as a "destiny" kind of thing. Keyleth was the daughter of Korin, the then leader of the Air Ashari. I know it is a lot of time, but watching their stream of the 1st season is incredibly worth it. The animated seasons don't capture half of what makes these stories so amazing. If you like the animated series, you'll love the original stream.

In my opinion, Keyleth is one of the most underrated characters that Critical Role has ever produced. But I absolutely love this tribute to her, the struggles she faces between who she feels she must be, who others perceive her as, and who she really is. I don’t have Twitter, but someone should absolutely tweet this to Marisha. Brilliant work.

@@Damianweiblera lot of the fanbases issues was what she was going through when they stated to stream. Like our first introduction has her questioning everything because at that point in the home game she had failed at her aramente. She was having some hardcore self doubts :(

Just hard for people to latch into a character who is negative a lot of the times when we didn’t see what lead to them having that perspective.
@anjelica948
@anjelica948 4 ай бұрын
@@humanoidrkangel For sure. I read a story years ago about when Pixar was making the movie Finding Nemo. Basically the whole story was the same, but instead of showing the opening sequence with Marlin, and why he is so terrified of everything, they had that scene set more than halfway through the film. And the test audiences really disliked Marlin because of that. But then when they switched the order of the scenes, to show things chronologically, Marlin became so much more likable and sympathetic, rather than annoying and overly controlling.

I'm on the verge of tears 🥲 This is how you write a Disney Princess- like song with a nice strong character despite uncertainties. That's the kind of femininity we need and deserve. I love Keyleth 💚

Who says a woman can't be feminine and badass? Different times and different places for each aspect. If Keyleth was a disney princess, this would be sung in a moment of doubt as she seeks her strength for the final conflict. It kinda makes me think of "I can go the distance" from Hercules.

I’ve been listening to this consistently since it was released. It’s not just one of my favorite fan songs, but one of my favorite songs in general. This song perfectly captures the growth of the character. My favorite part of the song is how poetic it is. There’s a distinct lack of flowery prose like this today, and hearing this just makes me want more. I love all the fan songs from this channel, but this one stands out as my favorite. Masterpiece. I saw this song get released so soon after Born to be a Killer, and I got so excited immediately, but I decided to hold off on listening to it until I was in the right place at the right time to fully enjoy it. Just so happens, I found myself home from a hard day's work a little early with my good headphones on, about to head to bed, when I thought, what better way to finish my night? And my gosh, was I right. I don't think I can say anything that everyone else hasn't already. The insight into Keyleth's mind as she doubts and loathes herself and is slowly forced to realise that she's far more capable than she's ever believed-masterfully written, genuinely.

Along with many, Keyleth was not at all my favorite. I used to hate the character. But one of the times i was relistening to the first campaign, i tried looking at it from her perspective. An extremely talented individual that was told by her father that she has a destiny to serve as the leader of all of the asharii. Having no world experience, no confidence in herself, and no idea of how to be a leader would break most people. So she failed, a lot, and gained experience through it. Became stronger and more trusted by her friends. And eventually learned that she could rely on herself to be the pillar that others would rest their weight on. It is truly inspiring that you captured all of that in a 4 minute song. Someone in animation needs to make a music video to go along with this song. Absolutely beautiful song and i thank you for sharing it with us.
