can the stem be backed out just a little to let the air out so you can screw it back in to check how much psi is in the tire as i don't want to bleed all the air out? Great vid...thanks.

I jack the tractor up by the draw bar in the back if I am doing the back tyres. Till the wheels are just off the ground. This way I don't fight the back pressure and tyres should not come off the bead . Works for me . Thank you for the video

I jacked this one up as well but the popped off anyway. Never had that happen before but I've also never owned a new tractor. Thanks

Here is a little "tip" for you. If you purchase a "Y" Shutoff valve with one single connector on one side and two connectors, with shut off valves on the other, you can put the valve stem connector tool on the single side (inlet for liquid INTO the tire). Then take one hose from the pump to one of the "Y" connectors with the shut off. Now here is the "tip" or trick. Take a SECOND hose and run it from the second "Y" with a shut off and run it back into your container holding your liquid. With this method you can close the "fluid IN valve" stopping the flow of liquid into your tire, and then OPEN the second "Y" valve to bleed pressured air from your tire. With most impeller type pumps you do NOT have to turn the pump off as the liquid will just cycle around until you open the valve again after first closing of the "air bleed" valve. This makes it easier than trying to twist open the valve stem tool.

If your filling with water from hose, would you put tire stem at 12 o’clock(top) fill letting air out till water starting coming out your air purge valve, then finish off with air pressure ? I’m thinking tractor tire needs to be off the ground as well

I just put 2 80 pound bags of concrete on the floor under the seat of my tractor that was enough to keep my wheels from spinning or mount some old weights back there somewhere , trust me it will basically do the same thing. water may be too heavy and slow down the performance of the tractor. but don't take my word at it . i am kind of new with this old stuff

Only fill your tractor tires with water if you live in warm climate all year round. If it freezes use windshield washer fluid or antifreeze, beet juice, not water.

I have had my subcompact tractor for over 8 yrs. now, I have my box blade on the back, never had any issues with carrying items in the bucket. But I guess it's OK to add the fluid, but don't that affect things as loading, driving, or even stopping?
@SoatMon

I've never had any issue with driving, stopping, etc. The added weight makes it a lot safer moving heavy loads in your bucket and gives added traction.

For those poor souls who live in areas where it gets real cold in winter I would recommend using anti freeze mixed with the water at a 50/50 ratio. this mixture will take your freeze-up temp. down to about -30f. And yes, the anti-freeze has a rust/corrosion inhibiter in it. Actually, it would be just as effective to rig up a bracket on the back of your tractor and hang some scrap iron on it. That gives you the option of removing it when not needed.

eugene Morrill 50/50? Each tire will take 40-60 gallons. Better have a good hook on glycol. Don't need the mix that strong. If it slushes or even froze not a big deal, temporary flat spot. Big tractor tires can expand, unlike your Honda block.

Washer fluid, way cheaper than anti-freeze.
@jaxturner7288
@jaxturner7288 7 жыл бұрын
TsmnnDvl5 better be extremely cheap because you need your money for new tractor tires in just a year or two, the alcohol will be drying them out, from the inside out, n fast. Besides, you don't want that in there too long anyway, seeing as washer solvent is extremely flammable and could end up killing someone. But really your wrong because anyone resourceful at all would get a whole drum of used, recovered antifreeze from a local truckstop for less than $1 per gallon. Don't just op for the cheapest thing on the same shelf as the normal solution and expect it to perform in the same way. things Think outside the box. Your "way cheaper " would actually cost the same or probably even more initially. But then you just hope it doesn't blow anyone up or leak out, poisoning livestock or crops and then wait for the blitzkrieg or dry rot to arrive. Hope you have more time to study up before you actually start to make decisions like that.
@Ham68229
@Ham68229 7 жыл бұрын
Perhaps, you're also assuming that the majority of places are just going to sell you used antifreeze, most don't and won't. It's called EPA. Plus you need to realize prices are different from state to state along with different regulations on what you can purchase, (used antifreeze included).

With the tire aired up just put the valve stem to the bottom and pull the valve stem out. It will shoot water out a pretty good ways and push almost all the water out when it gets flat.

The manual for the tractor showed a diagram that you put the stem at the top of the wheel and fill it to that level when you get liquid instead of air, you are full, basically, the liquid should be at the top of the wheel hub. You need some air for cushion and to protect the tire from extreme pressures. You are correct, you don't want to fill them all the way up. Thanks for watching!

Just finished repairing one of my rims that I filled with water in 1978 on my yard man tractor. If this rim will seal now I may or may not refill with liquid. I needed the weight for traction to use my 4' dozer blade. I'm wondering if antifreeze/coolant will prevent the corrosion. Considering how long the plain water was inside I am surprised I have rims left. Since I mostly just use the tractor for mowing now, I will probably just use air. Original tires and wheels definitely not for highway use. LOL

@SoatMon 8 жыл бұрын
I think regular antifreeze would help with corrosion but it's expensive. I used the washer fluid so it wouldn't freeze. Good luck on your tire and mowing. Thanks for watching!
