Wow, thanx so much for this. A strange haunting aura seems to emanate from this film and seeing it again is like stepping out of a time machine. Gorgo is vastly underrated and unfairly over shadowed by Godzilla. This is one of the best giant monster films ever made, especially in color. Just as much as any Japanese Kaiju film, Gorgo has stayed within my memory for so many years, totally luv it. Those evil giant red glowing eyes and horrifying disturbingly enraged roar.

I thought that this was a Japanese movie, like Godzilla. I never thought that it would have been a movie from Ireland.

I have this on DVD and have watched it, probably 10 or more times, over the years. Of course it is the British version of Godzilla. It does have a different back story of greed and exploitation, which is a lot different from the Godzilla story. As many times as I have seen it, those ears and both adult and baby wiggling them, fairly often, still stick in my mind.

I don't think I've seen this since the mid-1960's when I would come home from school & watch the 4pm movie on TV. I enjoyed watching it again.

I wasn’t expecting much from a monster movie from 1961 but I have to say I thought this was surprisingly good especially considering its lack of effects. The ending was a surprise but highlights the importance of family, not a message often seen in 2023. Bill Travers and William Sylvester, one of the better US actors in the UK around this time, lead the cast with a number of 50’s villains like Bruce Seton, Martin Benson and Maurice Kaufman supporting. Look out for John Wood near the end shouting repent, repent which I thought was a nice touch.

That word or name, GORGO, absolutely kills me, ha ha ha ha, and it looked even funnier seeing it written on the side of those Double Decker Busses.

I really hope that this gets a remake and possibly let this monster join the "Monsterverse" along with Gamera. That would be awesome!

Somebody should have told that little boy that was trying to cut the net to free the Monster, that people only wanted to see it, and look at it, not hurt it.

I'm going to have to see this again to see how GORGO got free.

Amazing miniature pre-CGI special effects. Fantastic score and beautiful cinematography. Definitely a big budget production. Only problem is that I found the story itself predictable and unexciting. The only character I cared about was little Sean. This almost seems like a prototype for the special effects driven movies of today. I really wanted to like it more, but found it a little hard to get through. I'm afraid that I prefer low budget science fiction movies as they have better stories and characters in lieu of glossy production values... more like a good book!
