Today I introduce you to my 2022 Triumph Trident 660 and the modifications completed to date. Then we knock out the install of a Dart flyscreen, Evotech radiator guard and bobbins, as well as a Quadlock mount and kit from Evotech + QuadLock.
Originally my intention was to also go for a test ride using a new ChinMounts GoPro mount on my helmet, but once I installed I noticed the instructions recommended a 24 hour wait for the adhesive to cure... so a ride video will be coming soon!

I just bought the same Trident as well as the color, can handle it at the dealer on Friday. I think the red combined with the gray paint fits together quite well , of course that's my personal opinion. I'm going to subscribe on your channel I can keep following you. Greetings from Belgium ✌

I agree, I'd been wondering about the carbon for a bit, but when it was off to install that guard I realized not having the red splash of color there really made it look bland.

Love the work! Did you tighten the handlebar clamp screws with a torque wrench? I’m afraid of doing it myself.

Love that quadlock mount! Before I pull the trigger and purchase can you let me know if it’s adjustable? As in can it tilt? You’re setup looks quite flat so I was wonder if it can be angled so the screen is a little more vertical, thanks!
@makesandbrakes7856
@makesandbrakes7856 Жыл бұрын
You can definitely adjust the angle/tilt by loosening the mounting hardware. I ended up with the "flat" position you've noted as it allowed me to avoid blocking any part of my gauges with the phone when riding, but it does make it a bit harder to see the screen... though that's probably not a bad thing either when on the road!

I want a quadlock but I'm concerned about it clearing my tank bag when the bars are turned. From your video it looks like I might be close but may work. Also about to purchase the evotech levers. Look like great levers

Assuming the bag you choose isn't too bulky up near the front of the tank, I'm guessing you'd be OK... but it'll definitely be dependent on how big the bag is, how you angle the mount, etc. Agreed on the levers, and honestly everything I've picked up from Evotech has been high quality.

That Dart Flyscreen looks pretty good. I'd be interested in one for keeping bug spats from getting in more difficult to clean nooks and crannies. But.....where does the wind get deflected to when riding? I have a problem with some bikes generating bad air from the forks etc.... but my Trident is great naked. Test rode a bike the other day that sent air to my neck which caused the helmet to want to be forcefully pulled off my head at 50-60mph and above and some serious wind noise even with great earplugs. I hate to put one of these on only to find it sent the wind to my neck or helmet.
@makesandbrakes7856
@makesandbrakes7856 Жыл бұрын
Hey there! I'd say it does redirect a bit more into the helmet area, but not enough to give me any sensation that my head is being shoved backward significantly, even at highway speeds. I do find that when I'm up over 60mph I generally settle a tad lower into my seating position naturally, and in those situations it seems as if the bulk of the wind is going right over my head. For reference I'm just under 6' tall. That said, it's definitely on the smaller side for windscreens, so if that's a major concern you may want to look at other options that are a bit larger/taller.

How did you get on removing the plastic cover on the left side for the paddock stand? Any tips? I like your red accents-even though my trident is all black!
@makesandbrakes7856
@makesandbrakes7856 Жыл бұрын
If you're referring to the little plastic "plug" that needs to be removed, I used a plastic spudger (small tool usually used for removing interior trim safely) to pry it out. Took a bit of care but otherwise pretty straightforward.

When installing the ET quad lock mount is there any opportunity for the handlebars to come loose rotate or move out of place? If so - Could u please explain what you did to ensure the bars are in the same position after the quad lock is installed? Thanks!

Which levers did you put on? Any problems with them? The stock clutch lever is too far away from the grip for my 'large' hands resulting very painful cramping hands after a few hours of lots of clutching during the break in miles. Can you adjust these in sufficiently without compromising shifting into neutral etc...? Thx!
@makesandbrakes7856
@makesandbrakes7856 Жыл бұрын
I'm using the Evotech Performance set for the Trident. I'd also found the clutch to be problematic originally... the Evotech's have 5 "clicks" of adjustment and at first, I went all the way in for a super short throw but that made the engagement point feel odd and definitely hard to neutral. For my medium/large hands, I ended up in the 3rd "click" right in the middle and it feels great. I'm really happy with them and they made riding in general more enjoyable, plus it's a giant improvement in looks IMO.

@@gabelazar6376 I ended up ordering a pair of Evotech Shorties probably right after first writing this. HUGE improvement (for me) over stock in both looks and function. I'm very happy with them. Love using them 2 fingered.

I have very large hands too. I am surprised that the OEM clutch lever feels so hard to press after a long ride. I might get the levers. How much are they?

What set up is the quadlock. I was looking on their site but couldn't find it. Thanks
@makesandbrakes7856

So, the full setup starts with the Evotech "EP Quad Lock Compatible Mount" as the base, check Evotech's site for that. Then from QuadLock themselves I have the vibration dampener and finally on top of that is the normal mount, with the little blue lever swapped to red (also got that from QuadLock directly). Hope that helps.

Did you consider just using a fork Mount from quad lock instead? I actually have both right now and need to return one of them soon, having a hard time deciding between the two. The fork mount seems more adjustable, but I would prefer the ET one if it wouldn’t get in the way of the display (I have a ‘18 street triple R just FYI, not much different in this regard though). Thanks a bunch!
