Tried-Band vs. Dual-Brand what's the difference for faster internet speed?

Is Tri-Band Router better than Dual-Band WiFi router for faster WiFi Internet? What's the difference between dual-band and tri-band wifi router? Will using a tri-band router give you faster wifi and faster internet speed?

You briefly mentioned enabling the firewall. I understand the principle of a firewall but get confused as to the difference between a router only allowing related traffic back from the internet or a firewall which blocks all then allows permitted or port forwarding which allows inbound traffic that would otherwise be blocked.

I had thought about getting a tri-band a while back, but I ended up getting the Razer portal mesh gaming router (I ended up buying two since I have up and downstairs townhome). My actual ISP router has 2 bands (2.4ghz, and 5ghz), I also bought and a Netgear switch. I use the portal router as a VPN 2.4ghz and 5ghz since I like to stream movies and shows from my Nvidia Shield via Kodi and Zion TV. Most of my set up is hard wired other than my phone's tablets and a laptop that is all on wifi, along with my smart light devices, and cameras. If you don't have a mesh, dual-band or tri-band router you are not even tapping into the potential of using your devices at home. Especially for the streamers and gamers.

Is this triband compatible with any internet provider? We have Verizon Fios. Is this Mesh system better than a TP link or similar range extender? What do you think of eero witeless home network? I havent tested it with Verizon, but its a router and not a modem. So as long as you have a modem that gives you that connectivity, you can plug this into that modem and now you have WiFi and LAN etc. Mesh is WiFi but on a new level and the price of these has really come down so well worth exploring.

If youre testing everything off one device doesn't that eliminate the purpose of three bands? Wouldn't the test be better if you ran those videos on seperate devices on different 5ghz bands?

When you send data from your device into the wifi network, the router manages the traffic. So its not one device = 1 band of data.

Dual band means 1x 2.4Ghz and 1x 5Ghz. Tri bands means 1x 2.4Ghz and 2x 5Ghz. So the coverage should be better on the Tri Band.

Liron Segev Personally, I try to keep everything wired with my Asus RT-AC86U. My view less or more when it comes to devices using a wifi connection. Sofar I have 8 devices connected via cat5e To one of the three switches (2-8prts and a 5 port), then cat6 back to the router. I know cat6 is overkill, especially with 500Mbps internet and gigabit ports, but I always try to overkill the backbones of my network.
