Actually Grand Indonesia is not the biggest mall even in Jakarta itself, the biggest mall in Jakarta is Mall Kelapa Gading in north Jakarta and the biggest mall in entire Indonesia until right now is Pakuwon Mall in Surabaya, East Java

go to Semarang and Solo/Jogjakarta by train (Executive or panoramic), and then head to Surabaya, then you'll know what living to most ethnic Javanese really looks like. If you want to know what it feels like living outside of Java, take a flight to Balikpapan and head down to Samarinda or hop on a flight to Manado and Maluku Utara/Ambon for eastern archipelago Indonesia experience.

When I still lived there in 1997 ( Im jakartanese now living in germany) Jakarta was already a megapolitan Posh City, but not a lot of blogger that time Visited. Jakarta has always the biggest mall and water Park for kids. Food Center and so much more

I think it looks like you have left Jakarta already, but if you are still in Jakarta, I suggest you visit "Taman Mini Indonesia Indah" (TMII or Taman Mini). One day tour arround TMII you will feel like you have explored Nusantara (The Indonesian Archipelago). To get there I suggest you use the LRT JABODEBEK Cibubur Line, from Dukuh Atas Station, get off at Tamini Station, from there you can take the free shuttle bus which will take you to TMII.

There are central park mall & taman angrek mall In west Jakarta; kelapa gading mall, ancol beach, PIK (out door interest places) in north jakarta, pacific place, senayan city mall, senayan park mall, SCBD in south jakarta you have to visit. You can try the public integrated transportation as busway, MRT, LRT or train to go to the other interest places in jakarta.

They're a mix of convenience, "western", and luxury food, so fast food joints here always try to be fancy and tasty in addition to being convenient and fast. If you want to see the equivalent of cheap, quick fast food joints like in the US, you actually have seen one in Yogyakarta, that imitation "Popeye" franchise.

bro, try visiting Labuan Bajo, after that visit Toraja, located in South Sulawesi in Indonesia, and after that, go to Mount Jaya, Wijaya, Papua. Labuan Bajo you can see a beautiful view of the lake Toraja, we Indonesians call it the land of the clouds, has statues of Jesus and glass bridges and beautiful mountains and unique cemeteries. There are different types of malls in Jakarta, for different types of market. You can’t really compare Thamrin City with Grand Indonesia or Plaza Indonesia. Thamrin City wasn’t that old of a mall, it used to be jam packed, but then the pandemic hit her hard. A lot of the stores you saw in there also sold their products on line in marketplaces to survive.
