Hi Jason, thanks for coming to Jakarta, Indonesia. I like this video with positive vibes.. I just wanted to comment on the "tuktuk", in Indonesia we called it, "bajaj" (read, Bajai). According on what you payed, Rp. 100.000,- from Blok M to Ascott Kuningan Hotel; usually it's pay more than Rp 50.000,- because Bajai can't go through Jalan Sudirman due to the Highway code, so the driver need to make u-turn from another way, to avoid it. If you travel by car, it will be faster if you go through Jalan Sudirman from Blok M to Ascott Kuningan Hotel. Conclusion, what you pay is not over-charge and also not too cheap. Why? 1. You took ride at night, 2. no traffic jam, 3. You got very experienced driver that knows the road very well and honest, you're so lucky bro. Well, that's just my two cents. Because the area that you took is the road I go since childhood hahaha (Blok M)...

Having also lived in Indonesia for several years,it perplexes me that their cuisine is not regarded as highly. It certainly deserves to be right up there with Thai cuisine(and others such as Italian and Greek).The variety, styles and flavours of the foods across the archipelago are totally amazing and are deserving of being up there with the best cuisines in the world,Enjoy bro😋👍

Let me sum up your street food hunting 5.34 - At the exit guide is written Gulai Tikungan Blok M (Exit C) you should try this food, it's one of the favourite night food-stalls in Jakarta. The eatery offers a hot gulai kambing (curry goat meat) in a small portion. It's delicious yet really cheap 10.26 - Chicken Sate are commonly served with peanut sauce, yummy! 11.09 - It’s called Telur gulung (rolled egg), an egg is fried and rolled using a skewer which is usually made of bamboo 13.34 - That one is Dampling Keju (Cheese Dumpling) made from flour or meal bound with an egg and cheese inside 14.13 - Beef Enoki, made from enoki mushrooms wrapped in thinly sliced beef 23.55 - The guy next to you having a bombastic side eyes :D 26.06 - Actually you already found the Nasi Goreng (written on the booth) but instead of Nasi Goreng you ordered Ayam Geprek 30.56 - Again another Nasi Goreng booth 32.53 - It's not tuktuk, we called it BAJAJ, and the rate was fair enough, it is quite far tho Have fun in Indonesia!

I love how honest the way Jason review about the public transportation and safety of the city, since he's British he understand the difference. Meanwhile big city in western country like London, Milan, Paris, New York tend to be sketchy and messy, and could be dangerous especially at night. A lot of pick pocket, robbers, scammers, homeless, crackhead, thugs on public place, etc. But since the prejudice of developing countries in the mainstream media while the media more romanticize famous western big city make people have bias opinion especially if they never visit or experienced it.

I kept seeing you buying different public transport cards (and even the same ones multiple times), so here what you need to know: 1. There are five bank cards, four (Flazz, E-Money, Brizzi, and Tapcash) could be used everywhere including at retail (Your favorite Alfamart and Indomaret), one (Jakcard from the Provincial bank) is at exclusively for Jakarta's public transport and tourist area such as Monas, Ragunan Zoo, and museums. 2. KMT (otherwise known as kartu kereta or kartu KRL). Note that you could use your red KMT card for every public transportation in Jakarta, but you could only top it up on KRL stations. So be sure to have a balance of at least 15,000 IDR 3. There are MRT "Jelajah Card" (Single trip). You don't have to buy it everytime, just reload the trip to your card on the machine. So there you are. My recommendation is to use your KMT but don't forget to top it up

13:20 --- 10 tusuk = 10 sticks 14:11 -- keju is cheese 23:30 -- bintang 0 is a non alcohol beer 37:17 -- that wasnt tea. that's gypsum fibrosum, it's supposed to help with "heatyness" and lower your core body tempereature. it's Chinese ailment
@nila.husandi4 ай бұрын
12:20 tusuk means the stick Jason, so 10 tusuk means you'll get 10 stick of telur gulung. Telur Gulung literally means rolled eggs, so eggs are mixed with seasoning then it is spread on hot oil then the seller quickly rolls the stick throughout the eggs.

Hi Jason! Idk whether you're still in Jakarta. But if one day you wish to return, I'll be happy to help you travel whenever I can (esp. speaking with locals). Jakarta can be pretty overwhelming for newcomers, so having a local with you would definitely make your experience better. Thank you for exploring our city, and I hope you find it memorable!

1. Chicken Satay you eat is Sate Taichan, we also have chicken satay with peanut sauce. 2. The 8.3/10 you eat is Telor Gulung or Egg Roll?? in english, "Tusuk" means the stick, so in your case those are 10 pieces of Egg Rolls.

9:34 Telur gulung 10 tusuk = 10 skewers of egg omelette (telur = egg, tusuk = skewer) Also, the sate that you had is the "sate taichan" variant. It's fairly new. 28:10 is soy tempeh. Apparently it's a pretty popular meat substitute among vegans.

Love the way you enjoyed our Indonesian food🤩 Can't wait to visit my lovely country Indonesia in June. I love spicy but not much on sweet stuff, so Sumatran food such as Rendang, soto medan, etc are the best. It's kinda similar with Thai food. Plus Siantar Noodle or Bakmie Siantar is the best noodle ever lol. Enjoy your trip !!

12:19 that's we call an egg roll, made from chicken and some herbs then rolled with the scrambled egg.. 13:54 KEJU means Cheese 27:08 AYAM BAKAR means Chicken Grilled 28:15 Tempeh, that's made from Fermented Soy Beans, very popular in Indonesia, you can say as an Indonesian Tradisional Dish. 30:15 We usually called an Avocado Juice but not really an Juice because they Blend it not juice. 33:09 Tuktuk is in Thailand, but here we call "bajaj" actually we dont have an officially name for that kind of transportation but just called like that -sorry- 35:03 i think you just ate much sugar just make your brain scrambled like you said LoL Have a nice trip here in Jakarta Indonesia 37:14 Kind of a drink for cooling soothing after you eat to many foods.

Tuktuk = Bajai in Indonesia (Bajaj in India) Rp 100.000 a little bit expensive but it's been a while since the last time I used Bajai. I would prefer Gocar/Gojeg nowdays. 28:20 that's tempe, it's from soya bean Avocado sweet is from brown sugar, I think

13:48 Keju is basically cheese. Thank you for visiting Indonesia,i hope you enjoy it here. If you have some time you should go to the Sea World or other places (just a suggestion)

Alsooo The hash brown-taste-alike food you ate with chicken was “tempe/tempeh”. It’s basically a fermented soy. Many vegans eat them as their protein source. You can find many dishes made out of tempeh✨

Hi Jason, thank you for coming to Indonesia! I want to describes the food that you just ate if you are wondering you just ate Telur Gulung (11:19) Telur means egg, and gulung means roll, so its basically Eggrolls😊, meanwhile tusuk means pieces for satay, 10 tusuk means 10 pieces of satay. Keju means cheese (13:32) At this part you ate Ayam Goreng (Fried Chicken) (25:59). and you ate Tempe, and its fried. (28:08) Tempe is original food from Indonesia, it comes from fermented soybeans. Indonesians eat this because its highly protein I would like to recommend you to go to Bandung City because you can go with our newly high speed train!
