Speaking on the track, lyricist and singer Nick Beggs shared, “Once around the sun with you is an anniversary song written for my wife in commemoration of all the years she’s put up with me. Need I say more. The Woman is a saint!”
Joining the trio of masterful musos on the new single with additional guitar is Alex Lifeson (Envy of None / Rush). Speaking on the collaboration with Alex Lifeson, Beggs said “Our history with Alex Lifeson goes back quite a few years to when Rush invited numbers of artists to rerecord an anniversary version of their classic album 2112. I don’t like to bug him too much but if it’s a song I think he’ll enjoy I’ll inevitably send him a demo to gauge his response. He instantly related to Once Around The Sun and added some wonderful guitar colour to the track.”

I Always Enjoy Hearing Alex Play As I’ve Been Listening To Him For Years. As To the song it’s not my cup of tea. It sounded very vocal indulgent to me as though he was the only one to focus on. Didn’t care for it.

Outstanding track. I really like the way the lead vocal is effected. There sounds like a slight modulation is present (doubled vocal, slight-slow chorus fx?), but there definitely is heavy compression. That vocal's dynamics were under complete submission, and I'm not saying it's a bad thing! It sounds great! It absolutely works. The vocal sits right where it should, doesn't move, doesn't waver, and can be heard over the music at all times. Considering the dynamic nature of the song and the instruments in it, it's absolutely perfect for the mix. It's the little things like that, that have a big impact on the end result, and I appreciate it. Thank you!
