Pyrion logic: If I don’t understand it than it doesn’t make sense

8:00 sorry Pyrion, But ACTUALLY saying Union Flag or Union Jack is correct no matter the context, as outlined in 1908 by parliament in response to whether flag or jack was the official name www.flaginstitute.org/wp/british-flags-2/the-union-jack-or-the-union-flag/
@themadking97454 жыл бұрын
Fully respect Pyrion's opinion in regards to stories having a direct meaning, but I think he's totally missed the mark in terms of ambiguity in film. Sips raised an excellent point, that is poignant in Lynch films; films don't have to leave you satisfied, sometimes the unease of the unknown is incredibly powerful, in my mind, it's like criticising Pulp Fiction for not showing you what's in the briefcase, was Tarantino lazy for not telling us?
@JonathanRVT4 жыл бұрын
Pyrion makes seemingly the exact opposite argument in an early Triforce episode when they are talking about Lost. He rails against the need of the audience to have Lost explained causing the showrunner to have to explain it (and ruin it) rather than leaving it a mystery. It is interesting to think about whether his opinion has changed, or opinions like this vary day to day, or he is making some distinction in his mind between the two that isn't articulated. Makes me wonder what views I've aggressively espoused in the past, that today I would struggle to even accept that I had once felt that way. Not a criticism of Pyrion, in fairness that old episode is years old at this point.
@themadking97454 жыл бұрын
@@JonathanRVT Yeah, absolutely, I think with age comes advancing cynicism and often close-mindedness, I understand the desire for satisfaction in film, absolutely, but there's also a lot of enjoyment within the unknown, The Shining for me is a perfect example of an open-ended film that plays into a sense of mystery, if we were told what exactly what was going on with Jack Torrence I don't think it would have been met with near the acclaim it's received.

I kinda agree with Pyrion on some films. I think some directors/writers think they're more clever than they actually are. Done well, ambiguity in film is great but alot of directors tend to want to do too much without really understanding what made their inspirations great. What you end up with is something that is not only incoherent but isn't in any way enjoyable.
@LastExile1234 жыл бұрын
yes, and it's not just about randomly throwing things in with no thought...there is a great deal of craft involved. After Lynch left during season 2 the show sucked real bad. The writers tried to do weird "lynchian" type stuff but it was just goofy and stupid. Lynch is a master.

I think that whether or not something is explained by the end of a story matters often much less than how they get there. I don't just mean that in the cliche "it's the journey, not the destination" kind of way, although I guess that's part of it. Most of the fun in a cliffhanger-y show is trying to figure it out, not just in finding the answer. It can definitely be unsatisfying not to get an answer, of course. Someone recommended a show to me that I absolutely loved, but it was canceled after the first season, and I kind of wished I hadn't watched it at all. The thing about it, though, was that we had so little information at that point. If there had been a couple more seasons, maybe we would have had enough to make actual, reasonable guesses. There would have been something worth discussing. Instead, we were barely introduced to what the mystery was to begin with. I think the trick is often to give enough clues that the audience can think they have the answer, even if it's really left open. People are still discussing theories about Twin Peaks because there was so much to discuss! They've enjoyed the show for years after it ended. People are certainly allowed to not enjoy that, but for those who do enjoy it, I think that's the difference between a good mystery and a lazy one.

Media that leaves something to the imagination tends to have more art and staying power. Without the backwards talking little guy, and stuff like that... No one would be talking about Twin Peaks any more. Its symbolism, and I personally think Lynch is inspired by partly nature speaking, which is a great thing to channel. If he had tried to explain it, no one would have been satisfied because he wouldn't have told the TRUTH that the wilderness wants us to realize. I believe that the little guy speaking backwards DOES represent something very specific, and that great art is layered and that characters like that have MANY legitimate meanings. He represents Satan being robbed of his seductive power. He represents the smiting hand of justice becoming DOMESTICATED.

However, since I’m not from the U.K. I would be thankful to hear a U.K. person’s take on it, whether if it is used as a hate flag or is just a peculiar thing about Lewis. I can see his revulsion to the more controversial Confederate flag though (I myself dislike it too) and absolutely no sane person should be waving around a German swastika flag. You can't reason with people like this. There's nothing that you or anyone can say to convince them that the MSM is no longer authoritative, and that they are being fed a constant stream of lies that create this false sense of reality. No wonder he's so anxious - it's the effect of reality not reflecting the manufactured reality in his head. If they came out on the news and said that gnomes were invading Finland, he probably wouldn't question it for a second.
I think if Lewis realised the shit show that would ensue in terms of how difficult it's been, and how much its emboldened hate - he'd probably vote differently

You guys REALLY like the idea of being ruled over by a bunch of unelected international bureaucrats, don't you? It's amazing to me how they've manage to convince you that it's this wonderful utopian thing. It's no different politically than what Hitler was trying to set up. But stately politicians and anchormen are far more convincing than Panzers, apparently.

Luis, skip the movie. It's laughably bad. The movie was so melodramatic and told a story that had been told over and over in the show. Pyrion, Lynch is a storyteller. There's a reason for everything on the show. It's not just randomness thrown on screen. There's a lot of symbology. Not everything is literally as it appears. Sometimes it's just what the characters perceive of some kind of abstract thing or idea and you have to pick up on the themes and patterns that become more apparent episode to episode to get an idea of what Lynch was trying to convey.

I 100% disagree about the movie and think it's brilliant but even outside of that, skipping it kneecaps you for a majority of The Return since so much of it revolves around stuff introduced in that movie. Good or bad, Fire Walk With Me is essential viewing.

I'm not English so maybe there's some cultural thing i'm not aware of, but it seems sad if people can't wave their flag without being labeled racist. What's wrong with the English flag?
@Wyattporter4 жыл бұрын
Same sort of thing as “America First”. The actual English flag (🏴) is not used in any official capacity by the state. It’s a symbol of the oppressors.

Unfortunately the English flag has been tarnished by a racist organisation. A few decades ago the same happened with the union flag but because ppl kept on using it it got reclaimed, but ppl arent doing the same with the English flag and are leaving the racists to use it as they please.

@@iamzid the union flag or jack represents the United Kingdom so - Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England - for the English to co-opt it as the English flag would be pretty insulting to the rest of Britain after everything we have already done to them in the past :')

Pyrion so triggered me, he does not understand the democratic republic system we have is nothing like the constitutional monarchy they have. So it matters so much more which party is in power. ( man we need a third party to avoid the voting for the lesser evil instead of the best candidate situation we have now) Of course if he did understand it his anxiety would be so much worse. So I just need to remember it’s tri-force and they talk out their ass all the time, and not let him trigger me

I used to enjoy this podcast, but the insanity of their views and opinions has reached dangerous levels now. The first eight minutes are a perfect example. From complaining about smug Trump voters (while completely ignoring the way both Trump and his voters were treated my mainstream media and the leftists before and during his reign) to "not needing those """dangerous""" flags anymore". This podcast has turned into George Soros' wet dream.
