What a pleasant surprise to hear them talk about my hometown in the Rockies. The Boss is a well-known legend of a bear. As much as I dislike the tourist season, if one has the opportunity, definitely visit Banff National Park, hands down one of the most beautiful places in Canada. On the note about LSD, like any other psychedelics, it is strongly not advised to trip on a whim, or while being intoxicated by other substances, especially alcohol. First, psychedelics and hallucinogens can alter and affect one's perception, mind-space, and distort reality temporarily. As such, psychonauts and shamans strongly suggest consuming a small quantity or dosage first to experience minor effects, working up from there. Second, one wants to be mentally prepared before tripping, due to the reasons mentioned above. Ideally, the individual has a trusted sober friend to watch over them, as well as being in a state of stable mental health. The unconscious mind can be a scary place, and even a seemingly good day could trigger an intense, negative trip on such a substance. Be safe, be mindful, be respectful, and dose appropriately.

I have a small piece of the exhaust tip of a 1992 Ford Taurus SHO lodged in my left shin. A calcium thing formed over it and now I have a forever lump that sometimes gets hit and really hurts. It was too expensive to get repaired at the time as a child. Guess which country I live in.

As far as loved ones telling other loved ones the truth about themselves, I rather they told me the truth! My husband is 32 stones and I love him but cannot accept him the way he is, because he is in constant pain beacuse of his weight. He keeps making bad choices but cannot help himself and I have to intervene. You can love someone but still want to help them be a better version of themselves

48:19 i would hate for my close once to not tell me if i had bad breath or stuff like that. many times the person in question does not know about this and they usually dont want to continue being like that. if you talk to me alone and tell me that i got bad breath, then i would be super happy since i can do something about it.

The issue is that almost everyone has decided to stop talking about things like politics, at least with people of other politics. Partly because of this, people are getting more and more polarised since they're forced into a bubble that cannot be popped as popping it would require having two parties listening to each other. It's crazy how much strawmanning you see when you hear people talking about the 'opposing views'.

helicopter man is wrong because although he can land anywhere if he loses all engine power in the sky they just drop like a rock lewis is right and sips too it does feel safer when you are sitting in the cockpit. As a pilot I used to be afraid of flying until I began flying myself.

Man, people been really crazy nowadays! But to call anything political as nonsense, is to avoid any meaningfull conversation, everything can derrail into politics if you look close enough, I think people should try working out their conversation skills a lot more, in order to escape that mentallity that everything is fucked and we cant change any of it.

Eh, you can definitely change someone's mind on occasion. I think I've only done it with people I don't know, though. It seems to help when it's impersonal. It can feel less like an attack, and feelings are less likely to be hurt. For example, I read a story online about someone in blackface for Halloween. There was a commenter who asked why white people can't dress up as black people on Halloween and if it would be just as bad the other way around. It was clearly a rhetorical question, but I answered it as if I was being respectful of a genuine question. During the conversation, I explained that the problem was blackface, why blackface was a problem, that whiteface existed, and the circumstances under which whiteface could theoretically be a problem. And although I agreed that a white person dressing as a black person for Halloween isn't inherently a problem, we talked about why something can be racist in one direction and not the other. Somewhere in there, they asked how they were supposed to dress as Oprah without blackface. I didn't have much of an answer, because I don't know much about Oprah, but I gave a few vague examples and pointed out that people didn't recognize it was supposed to be Oprah even *with* the blackface, so it clearly didn't help. Yeah, the person only asked to point out that there couldn't be a reasonable answer to their question. But when you treat people as if they're reasonable, they're way more likely to actually be reasonable with you. "That's actually a great question" has been a very effective starter for me, and asking them questions to genuinely understand their point of view is a huge help, too. I've definitely learned some things this way myself, too. After all, this person meant well, they just needed more information. But it's usually a time commitment, and it still might not work, and you have to be willing to actually listen. It definitely isn't always worth it for one random person, but in situations like this one, a lot of other people might see it and learn something, too. So I attempt it every once in a while, and even if I don't change their mind, I think something positive comes out of it about 50% of the time.

this is quite ironic xD on the topic of changing someone's opinion, mine is changed all the time, actually exactly what sips said about having an epiphany moment xD 2 days ago even, i have convinced myself for several years now that it be healthier to listen to my body and only eat when im hungry, making my eat rhythm 2 meals a day, but someone said to me as an example "you don't fuel your car when the tank is empty", and it has made me think and change my mined a bit on the topic, so i'd strongly disagree with the folks here on that you cant change peoples strong opinions

1) not a very strong opinion 2) off topic but I'm sure the most common thing is to fuel your car when it's running low. That's what the fuel gauge is for. You fuel when it's below a certain point, that's closest to your original hunger theory. No one is fueling their car when it's 90% full just because they decided to stick to a schedule

The helicopter pilot is a great example of why you shouldnt listen to some guy because he does a thing... just the "I always feel [like Im safer]". Get out of here with your anecdotes pilot-dude. Here're some very easy to find (google search) numbers: "The crash rate for general aircraft is 7.28 crashes per 100,000 hours of flight time. For helicopters, that number is 9.84 per 100,000 hours".
