Pretty sure the whole stuck on the boat thing is international maritime law, not just a US thing. They need to keep crew onboard to maintain the ship at all times... The visa thing is a bureaucracy thing but again, international...

I'm in the US South and thankfully didn't know about that offensive holiday, but c'mon, people being in favor of holidays is the most solvable problem. Don't get rid of the holiday, just change what it's for. Like Columbus Day --> Indigenous Peoples' Day. There's no good excuse for leaving these things in place.

@@DubhghlasMacDubhghlas I just looked it up and, to my horror, discovered it a thing in my state, too. Not a work holiday here, but according to Wikipedia, it is in some states. I believe that's what he meant, but I could be wrong.

@@knitterknerd maybe but in general bank holidays are universal. Bank holidays in the US are all federal holidays. And this is the thing I hate with this podcast and some other podcasts people will hear/read something then bring it up with half remembering it at best. @@DubhghlasMacDubhghlas I didn't know bank holiday was even a term here. I think the only time I've heard them called that here is when I worked at a credit union and we complained that we didn't get the same holidays as banks. He did at least mention that it was specific states in the south.
@DubhghlasMacDubhghlas5 ай бұрын
@@knitterknerd I heard of them when I was kid in school, not sure if it was from a teacher or my parents. It is a term in the US, but most people call them federal holidays because they are holidays that are federally recognized as holidays and give government employees days off. I know he did, but that should have been clue to him it is not bank holiday. I love these guys but at times it is painful how they twist things because they just half remember a thing.

@@pyrionflax hmmm probably how you take your very Londoner opinion and try to apply it to every corner of the planet. The greenhouses exist for a reason. It provides jobs, food, and income for impoverished people in the area. Bro is literally on vacation and is telling an African farmer making 3$ an hour his green house is "blocking my view". The green house gases have actually been reversing the warming of that region and cooling it back down. A huge win for the environment. Not everywhere can be a pretty little bubble. Maybe I should go to London and say "Too many buildings, bad for the environment. Tear em all down". HOA suck and nobody likes being told what to do on the property they own.
