Thought you had purchased a Ltwoo groupset to go with it? Changed your mind on that one? Anyway, i own few bikes in my lifetime and come to the conclusion that it is all about your fit in the bike what makes you faster and not the bike frame necessarily. The frame is a tiny % of that frontal aero drag. Tyres and tyre pressure make much more difference to speed than any frame out there.

I agree lol but also You are the thing that makes it go fast. So being comfortable on the bike is a big factor, but if that frame is uncomfortable and harsh, so matter how good you bike fit is it will be uncomfortable. All factors work together.. I still have the Ltwoo GROUPSET and may fit in the future but I am happy with Microshift and also the mechanical to hydraulic brakes for now. I have a new chainsets to go on to save a bit of weight and some wheels also, but getting the weight down on this strange Aero looking but Grand touring riding machine will be hard if price is a factor. Super comfortable though.

@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST what do you make up of the Ltwoo groupset so far? Your first impressions even without having it installed. Bought myself one last night as it is going as cheap as chips......

Awesome saddle choice by the way! So much so that.I am wondering whether this may be half the reason for the smooth ride. :-) But you use the same saddle on other bikes as well I guess?

A Trifox definitely isn't going to be purchased by anyone who is a potensious coffee shop bothering show off, as Mapdrip cycles has made them believe £10k+ for a Time makes you desirable.

I think I am a bit hard on it to be honest. If this was marketed as a fast endurance bike I would be saying it's definitely a buy, but it's an aero bike, so it's missed it design brief. I think also with it having max 28mm wide tyres limits it's one bike does all agreement. But it rides so smooth and handles great, it's just not fast.

I have the same frameset. I never had any other carbon road bike before, so I could not compare. I think for me it's ok. Even on a TT bike I would be slow... hahaha. To be honest, I also think the build quality is not that good. Maybe Hambini got delivered a frameset specially selected for his review. I don't know. One question though: Have you experienced problems with the brake cable plug guide or stop (I do not really know the exact name of that plastic part that guides the cables inside the frame). The left one for the brake, comes out every time I barely turn the handleblar to the left... It is vey anoying... Have you got any similar issue with any of those "guides"?
@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST
@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST Ай бұрын
Yes the I found that they wanted to lift up the inner housing so I didn't use it as a stop for the rear brake and drilled the hole bigger and ran the brake cable all the way through the frame to the rear brake. This has stopped it popping out the plastic guide/stop for the rear brake but I also had to drill a bigger hole behind the BB area to run the rear brake cable outer. Try this, it should sort your problem. I am very impressed with the smooth ride quality and good handling with this frame. It's super comfortable for an aero bike but possibly a little slow for an aero bike too

my time & cervelo both rode like wet noodles. obviously they were under the weight limit so the accelerated OK but they frames really felt like they just absorbed all your power. too bad you cant stuff bigger rubber on this one and just make it an urban/winter blaster.

It's a bike that you enjoy riding so like you say, a winter bike or just a long day bike. I will put so bigger milage/Kms rides are the way to go. I feel fresh after riding it, it's very comfortable 👍

Aye it just looks a bit fat and heavy. I think it’s down to the look of those wheels and tyres. A good commuter bike possibly though Benji? Still, it’s a great way for you to prove your point, that becoming a dentist and spending £10K on a bike is unnecessary so thanks for that.

My bike is definitely a porker close to the 9kg mark. A drop in weight would probably help, but I think the frame would still be lazy when you kick it. Might buy some light weight wheels and throw them on to see what it's like at a later date. It would make a nice commuter I think. It's a great all rounder, and for £850 it's great to have such great ride quality

@ I have a Boardman CX “comp” quite porky too. I don’t know what’s “comp” about it. When set up as a beater/commuter with lights and stuff on it must have more gravity than the sun. Very stable and sure footed but under no circumstance attempt to ask it to jump up the road with any urgency.

Nice bike, but being an old fart, i need 32mm gatorskin tyres, full length mudguards, and i don't care what it weighs as long as i don't have to fix a puncture😃

They are too expensive in my opinion at close to $1k for Frameset. Why not buy a discounted mainstream brand bike with SHIMANO 105 like a Giant TCR or a Merida Reacto etc? I would never pay more than $500 on Chinese bike frame. They should be cheap as they are high risk purchase.

I think because it's so smooth. If it was an endurance bike it would be amazing, but it's an aero bike, so should be designed for speed. But it is very smooth and enjoyable to ride.

So... you're saying this bike is as good as others costing £1000s more, but still not as fast as your old Claude Butler that can be bought mint used for £300? I believe you, cos the best road bike frame i ever rode was a cheap Taiwan made Tange Prestige. It's just funny how much money idiots will spend to go slower is all 😂

@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST mate if you want ride quality you can get an old Dawes Galaxy off Ebay for under £200 lol. They handle like fkn barges & are one of the most overrated bikes ever made imo but yeah they're comfy af & not made of plastic ffs. You built a carbon aero bike, if it ain't quicker than your old Claude Butler but costs nearly 3x as much it is a massive & total FAIL 😂
@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST
@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST Ай бұрын
@@JoeyMills-y3vIt doesn't cost even 3 x of my claud butler... This Trifox would have been only £850 to build but I got the frame for free as I got my money back for the frame, so it only cost me £500 to build in reality... What ever you keep saying £850 doesn't even buy you a alloy rim brake road bike with Shimano Claris on it for forks sake..
@JoeyMills-y3v
@JoeyMills-y3v Ай бұрын
@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST you can get a mint Claude Butler exactly like yours for £300 used, you say it's faster than this. Your words not mine. Not that it matters anyway as all the pros blatantly ride ebikes now, cycling is dead as a sport. Its just funny how much people will spend on this nonsense. I mean come on, every cycling outlet is telling you to ride £10k plastic bikes that break when they fall over & pay £200 to oil your chain with melted candles like a medieval peasant, the industry is absolutely fvcked, you got to laugh 😂
@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST

@@JoeyMills-y3v That comparison is ridiculous because this Trifox is brand new. So you banging on about 10 to 15 year old bikes at todays 2nd hand prices is delusional. The standard 16 speed alloy pig iron rim brake bike from Giant is over £800, New. That is your comparison.... This Trifox rides real nice for the price. I pretty much explain the good and the bad, but you keep constantly saying good handling & ride is worth nothing, it's just your opinion, & like A$$ 🕳️ s everyone's got one.....In my opinion you are talking absolute BS that all carbon bikes are worthless, and your 1980 steel Ital frame is best blah, blah BS. If you can make a brand new carbon disc road bike for £850 and it rides as good or better than a carbon £2500 bike it's a success and I set out what I was going to do... Why you not banging on about 2019 Tarmac disc with a ride quality that is nowhere as good as this Trifox. That Tarmac was £2250 in 2019. Explain that????

On handling, when you say it corners well what are we talking? Because for me a skittish bike that’s unstable and wants to turn is cornering well in the context of say a Crit race. A bike that’s stable and wants to return to center and level is also cornering well in the context of a endurance bike that is relaxing and no fuss. So can you clarify the handling feel. 🙂🙏🏻
@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST
@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST Ай бұрын
The front end is very neutral and not twitchy. You lean, it goes into the corner smoothly, holds the line great and is very stable in the corner. I think the weight helps this bike, and even though it's a heavy bike, (closer to 9kg than 8kg 😉), it's doesn't wonder to the camber of the road. Again the handling is super smooth and flowing, you are never fighting it or it's never catching you out with the lightness of the front end. This is definitely not a crit racer, but it's as a long distance bike or an endurance bike it's great.... But that's my gripe, it's supposed to be an aero bike. It's just too noodley for an aero bike as speed is the issue. You kick it and it doesn't reward you. But it is super smooth and comfortable though.
