Looks fun and its definitely cool, but whats the point? It cant go anywhere that feet can't already take you. Does the stability and positioning of the rider improve efficiency over that of a conventional off road bicycle?

The obvious advantageous of this quad is it is 4 wheel drive. This will go up inclines with loose material that a bicycle or trikes would not be able to make. This will also roll easier over sand because it will not sink in as much. Something that cyclists don't appreciate until they ride a trike or quad is that once you don't have to balance you are free to let your attention move away from the small patch of dirt that is right in front of you. That may not be quite so true in very difficult terrain, but anything milder and the stress is greatly reduced on the cyclist on the trike or quad. Quads, and trikes, do need a wider path than a bike. At least, they need to have a travelable route for two sets of wheels (3 for a trike) and that's not always available on single track paths. If my life depended on getting through 50 miles of rough countryside on single track path in a single day, I would pick a mountain bike over walking, and over this quad. The only situation where I think this quad would be the best pick is if you were sure to have wide paths, and the emphasis was seeing the scenery rather than just speed. You can go further in less time than walking on this, and it far more comfortable than a bike. It is also far more expensive than 99% of bikes.

So long as they aren't over price!!! They could even come as kits to assemble yourself, like a Caterham sports car, lol. But allowing people to have such freedom of mobilty where they would otherwise not, is the most motivating, important aspect of the idea.

I totally agree! - I'm a combat wounded 100% disabled Vet and would love to have one with hub Motors. It could be built so that you switch the drive from 1 - 2 or 4 wheel as needed for traction or powder. - I've thought about building a trike but I just don't think the off road capabilities of a trike are that great and will leave me eating dirt :/

@@archer7212 Off road, you want something with 4 wheels and both axles sharing the same track dimensions. That means, the rear wheels can run in the same track as the front... a trike with three wheels is not a stable platform and will be very uncomfortable.

The quad is specially designed for off-road. It is difficult to climb steep hills only by human power. Then you have to use the electric motor to assist. It is essential for off-road.

Beautiful machine. My only quibble is that anything as complicated as that will be at the mercy of many malfunctions. It really looks good though and I can't help but imagine it with an electric motor that could get it up to 10 - 15 miles per hour. That thing could cover some ground!

You have no idea the amount of malfunctions. I spent $9,100 for a paper weight. It has been sitting in my shed basically since the day it arrived. It arrived, broken. In addition, most of the screws were loose, and the frame was out of whack, and the chain started busting off the sprockets.

Although I got a laugh at your comment, it is completely untrue. I don't have one of these!YET, however, I plan on getting one. You get more of a workout then a bicycle or treadmill, yet you can use the electric motor completely if you like. It has 4 wheels so it's more stable then a bicycle, and you can still get to a destination as it is also transportation. You can also get them with a rack on the back that serves to carry a couple of bags of groceries. SO, yes it is different, but I test rode one and they are a blast.
