I've just bought a small jade tree and your bonsai is a cool inspiration for me to develop a bonsai out of this little shoot. I just would like to know if it is possible for me to fertilize it during the winter season. It being a tropical suculent, I normally will keep it indoors during the cold months, and I believe it will give my plant a chance to grow even in winter.

Just found your channel and so pleased to see it’s dedicated to the Portulacaria Arfa , I am brand new to bonsai, and am literally finding my feet day by day. It seems the books and other you tube channels say these are excellent beginners trees. I have a few saplings of native trees growing away in my greenhouse, but as it’s nearly winter here in the UK I thought I’d pick up a couple of Portulacaria Arfa from my local nursery (I know they’re not always the greatest specimens ) my plan is to watch all your videos , and try and pluck up the courage to start to prune and maybe wire them so as to get them to develop into lovely trees like yours. Any leaves and cuttings I will plant out and maybe have a go at a ‘mame’ tree. Hopefully I learn lots. Thanks for posting the videos. 😄🌳

Great to see you finally making videos! Can't wait to see your other content. Would you be interested in putting in your two cents on ways to improve a few of my trees? I could send pictures and you could draw on them or talk to them on what you would do if you ran the zoo ;-) Could make for interesting videos. Keep up the good work!

First off, I've really enjoyed keeping up with your insta and look forward to seeing more posts here! I have a couple small jades that I am starting to train and I have a question: How do you get each tier of branches? Do they happen naturally while you let them grow, or is there a certain method you use to get the tree to grow branches from the sides rather than just growing straight up? Ie full trunk cuts, scarring an area of the trunk, etc.

Can you please share how to smooth large branch cut/ trunk chop scars on jades
@LittleJadeBonsai
@LittleJadeBonsai 3 жыл бұрын
As long as you cut flush to the trunk, over time it will fill in and the scar will disappear. They don't heal over like a ficus tree or a maple. They form a scab and then once the scab falls off, it will slowly plump out over time.

How does growing near walls affect trees?
@pcharliealex
@pcharliealex 4 жыл бұрын
Because the growth follows more the side where they get more sunlight, that's why is very important to rotate or place them where they get directly sunlight from the top.
@LittleJadeBonsai
@LittleJadeBonsai 4 жыл бұрын
I should be rotating my trees but I alway forget with this one. I keep all my trees on the side of my house so the sun only hits them in the morning. The growth to the back doesn't receive sunlight which is why I need to rotate.
