Trimming Cases | Lee Cutter, Quick Trim, and RCBS Trim Pro

I'll explain 3 different methods of trimming cases- the Lee Cutter and Case Gauge, Lee Quick Trim, and lastly the RCBS Trim Pro II. Then I'll show you how to setup, adjust, and use each trimmer. As well as show you the proper way to chamfer and deburr your brass.

I have the Lee Quick Trim version that chamfers and de burr's.the case at the same time.. it works fine but now needs a blade replacement. (As the blades get dull the task gets harder and takes longer). They are cheap to replace. I decided to price the same Quick Trim version that can be used with a drill. Then I realized that I had the Lee precision trimmer, (your first demonstration product ). It came with the Lee 4 hole turret press starter kit. It's been collecting dust for years. I decided to try it and ordered the gaugess for the 3 rifle calibers I'm loading for ($30 SHIPPED). I haven't received them yet but it's clear to me that the simplicity of the item is the best choice out of all your demo products. IMO. 1. You Trim the case until it stops trimming and you reached the proper spec. 2. It's simple. 3. It will likely take a lifetime to wear out. 4. It's very quick using a drill. 5. The burr and chamfer can be done on the drill as well, using the cheap chamfer tool . 6. It's DIRT cheap and appears to do the job as good and fast as more expensive items. 7. Less set up time. I've seen a video where the person buffed the case with steel wool while spinning it in the drill. A great idea! I just may use my old Quick trimmer with the dies as trade items, if I find cheap precision trimmer works as well as the videos I've seen. Nicely done video! Thanks

Very informative. I appreciate the extra time you spend to record the audio separately; however its distracting when you look away from the camera, especially since you are making the effort to show your face while talking. Also, the time stamps in the description are great. You are clearly putting a lot of work into each video. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback Robert! I've happened to notice that myself when editing, still dialing things in a little. I recently changed the angle of the face camera so maybe that will help some. We will see! Glad to hear someone has made use of the description and timestamps. :)

I use the Lee quick trim. It's different than yours. Trims, chamfers and deburrs in one go. I use a dedicated cheapo press for it. 3-4 seconds per case to trim, etc. I don't worry too much about trimming, I do it before sizing and set the length 1/2 way between min/max. The cases come out within 1/1000th similar to sizing before trimming. I only trim when needed. Works for me.

I like to take the handle off of the trim pro and chuck the shaft into a drill. Push the pilot into the case mouth and pull the trigger. Way quick

Sorry, I must not be reading where you're getting your mins' from (within the Lyman 50th Ed book)? The Lyman's book states 2.028 but the Lee states 2.019?? The max OAL pic on pg 234 shows 2.039 but not sure why Lee and Lyman have SO much of a difference?? What is correct?

Just get the quick trim die for your press its quicker than hand trimming.

Trim to length is 0.010" shoter than Max OAL.
