The purpose of lollipopping was because indoor grow lights are straight above the plant and the light comes straight down so the bottom stems don’t receive much light but outdoors the sun moves across the sky and hits every angle of the plant so no need to lollipop in outdoor settings. If you need better air flow then remove the inner fan leaves but leave the stems. Also outdoors you can harvest in sections allowing the lower buds to finish after the top sections are harvested.
@dong95142 жыл бұрын

Fun fact: you can pick a clone during any stage in veg and in flower. In fact right when your plant is finished it is suggested to take a clone then throw it back on a 18/6 schedule until it roots out it will sprout new growth from the flower !! They call this monster cropping and it produces twice the yield sometimes more than the previous plant. Keep doing that for strong genetics 🧬 you can build monsters 😍😎😂✌️🙏 seed that out with a cross pollination of choice and you have a genetically strong monster crop seed that will produce monster plants ❤️

I was thinking that in personal grows one could remove leafs slowly or over time to improve the plants stress response instead of doing it all at once. Really to each their own situation. When we use our muscles everyday they improve. In my head a plant can do the same in other ways. Stress is life and learning how to enjoy the stress is the ultimate growth.

Should I clean up the bottom 1/3 if I am 3 weeks into flower? My plants are auto flower and are running behind a bit cuz we had no good sun and lots of rain and then a couple heat waves... So I moved them inside a tent under a ts2000 light and in the first week my two taller branches started to flower like crazy and then I bent them down 2 days ago to level the canopy to hopefully promote all of the tiny buds to grow more.. and just removed a ton of leaves today (everything that was too low down or blocking buds and some other large fan leaves just to hopefully direct the growth everywhere?!!! I also fed the plants 2 times this week for a very first time and only gave them a small amount of big bud the 2 times I fed them this week.. so it is a LOT FOR THE PLANTS I THINK... AND HOPE THEY DO WELL THIS LAST FEW WEEKS LEFT!!!! BUT IDK IF I SHOULD REMOVE SOME OF THE SMALL BUDS LOWER ON BRANCHES OR NOT CUZ HOW MUCH I TRIMMED OFF AND THE BENDING OF THE 2 MAIN BRANCHES?!!! YOU CAN SEE THE PLANTS ON BUFFALO ESKATE IF INTERESTED AND ANY HELP OR INPUT AS WE FINISH OUT THIS LAST COUPLE WEEKS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

How so? Especially if you are growing outdoors? Plants leaves in FLOWERING plants are responsible for all sorts of beneficial functions for the plants. Your extraction and fans will adequately circulate air enough to stop stagnant air from causing any fungal or other issues indoors. Plants uptake co2 through their leaves, not oxygen, that's done through the roots. 1mph air movement and regular fowledge movement by yourself every day, and keeping your humidity under control is adequate to stop any pathogens from spreading on leaves. Shade leaves are just as important as fan leaves as they help move nutrients and with the respiration of the plant. Removing one or two leaves in touch with the soil is okay, or dying leaves using more energy than they produce is fine, but anything else is overkill and unnecessary.
@Kh-ts3xw3 жыл бұрын
@@nihilityjoey If you clean fan leaves from bushy plants it will improve the air flow and prevent the plant in case of huge rains or high lvl of humidity get mold or any other fungals, im doing lst + lolypopping and atm doing great, nice video btw very informative.
@nihilityjoey3 жыл бұрын
@@Kh-ts3xw If you grow healthy plants from the outset and can keep the health throughout the whole grow, nice green too dark green leaves, building high brix. With even stem and node growth all round, and at a nice pace. Without needing to touch a leaf until they naturally wither at the end. Keeping good enough environmental control, (except from certain soils bound pests) you shouldnt need to worry about powedery mildew. Outside is different for obvious reasons, but the same applies and you should rely more on feeding, feeding to the environmental conditions. I havent grown outside, and I grow in coco, but I've never had PM, I've never had any pests, I've had small patches of bud rot in the main colla a few times, but overall I keep my room clean and my plants as healthy as I can, and that doesnt involve physically stressing them by defoliating, topping or any other practice. I help my plants reach their genetic potential, and the plant has the shape it does and the leaves it does because of it genes. And helping those leaves perform their fucntion leads to helping in that genetic expression. For all intents and purposes I use a hydro system with synthetic neuts, and hear that growing organically is the best and most natural way to help reach the plants potential. Only for everyone or them to pinch, tear and cut their plant to anything but what the plants genetics intended for it. I like watching videos by greenhouse and Dutch passion (also humbolt), they show the plants being grown without the needless massacring, amazingly healthy plants throughout and to the plants genetic potential - revealing what those plants offer and how they differ. Plants rooted for 2 weeks and vegged for 2 weeks, some giving over 150g totally dried, cured and trimmed - per plant. Not vegging for 2 months haveing too recover from the damage done too them by pruning and topping to only getting up to 200g per plant after that effort and time. I have a 20 inch gluberry plant, vegged for 5 weeks from seed, untouched, un topped, in a two gallon fab pot and from experience I'm expecting at least 120g of completely dried and cured material, from a plant like that. Too me, that's genetic expression, letting the plant be the plant and just..... helping it. Like a professional athlete. You dont break a runner's legs do you? That's just my thinking on it, and people can do what they like, and they can still grow lovely flower. I just dont do certain things. And won't.
@dominickgarey76573 жыл бұрын
Airflow isn't important until your flowers are in the last half of growth. That 18" plant had plenty of airflow in my opinion. At that size, every leaf matters.

I leave it alone, besides vacuuming up dead leaves. It makes no sense to me (the bro-science) that shade leaves "use up energy". The whole plant is producing energy in each plant cell that is green. The shade leaves also give a good first indicator of plant health, and direction of health. I don't hold it against anyone who takes off fan leaves (why do I care?) If the plant needs more airflow, I'll up the airflow. It doesn't need more light penetration as I only use the main buds, and the rest goes to bubble hash. On top of that, once I'm trimming I've seen surprisingly large buds halfway down the plant where it gets a lot less light. To increase yield, I make sure I have large vegged plants on deck and already budding ready to move into the flower room I'm harvesting. As for increased humidity, the dehumidifiers don't care, they keep it at whatever humidity they are told to keep it at. More shade leaves evaporating water is more fluid movement through the plant. I'd rather be smoking bud, typing out stupid comments, than doing make work just for the sake of doing it. It isn't a proven fact that trimming shade leaves increases yield on any plant that I know of. It wouldn't surprise me that its just the opposite, that MORE shade leaves increase yield. LOL

No need to lollipop litte tiny plants, wait untill it's nice and big and preferably just before flower begins. Why? The idea is that it grew a good root system to support much more growth, when the lower larfy branches are removed it's theoretically like removing sucker branches on fruit tree resulting in bigger sweeter fruits. If youre continuously lollipoping and removing leaves as it grows the root system will be smaller to support less plant mass. Well, sure as hell works for fruit anyway

When I get a new pack of seeds or a freebie, I'll spot pollenate enough of the bottom popcorn bud flowers to make 100-200 seeds. It'll prevent having seeds in my top best bud on that seeded plant and if for some reason I'm late with the pollen, which normally does not happen, but there's the option of harvesting the top half of the plant and leaving the bottom half to grow another week or two and let the seeds finish maturing. I just grow for personal and has always seemed to work well doing that. Of course if there's ridiculously small branches really close to the 'soil', I use Promix, then I'll remove those tiny low branches. Maybe seeds would be better in top kola nearer to the light, idk, they've always seemed to turn out fine as far as I can tell. Although I'll normally just sea of green clones from that first seed for years before ever starting a fresh seed. So I don't use many of the seeds I've made, more so just as back ups that don't cost me another $10 a piece like the originals.

@la7era1u542 жыл бұрын
I have 26 years of growing and I totally agree with you. Unless you are doing a sea of green method, you should keep them on, and even then you usually start flowering before that point. The leaves are where the plant makes energy to grow and flower. Those stems and leaves trimmed at such an early time in the plants life would grow to be large branches full of leaves when it's full grown. If you really feel like you need to prune then wait until it's older and only trim the parts that are totally shaded by the rest of the plant, which is rare unless over-topped, even with tree sized plants. There is a reason why they grow this way. Mother nature doesn't create inefficient and useless parts of a plant. If not having bottom branches was the best way to survive and reproduce, then these plants would grow that way without us having to cut them off
@GGtheRealest2 жыл бұрын
@@la7era1u54 I'd say that it helps the plant get taller faster. it'll grow new branches later. this here will get to its flowering stage sooner. This is a thing people do with Dragon Fruit cactus where you snip off any new arms growing on the main chain of cactus going up into a trellis, once there it's allowed to grow however it wants while producing fruit. so that basically forces the plant to focus on one single objective and suck less nutrients on unwanted growth. otherwise the plants just take a lot longer to reach the production stage, and the fruiting should be better. i'd say the same happens here, though you'd have to have 40 clones of the same strain to test 1/3 trim like this video, either from top or bottom. 20 of no trim, and 20 with trim. from what other users said in this comment section, was that the trimming yielded bigger buds and no mention of popcorn buds. the untrimmed growers report having popcorn buds. lazy me, I'd probably leave them untrimmed lol

It looked sick for less than an hour afterwords, then sprang back to life. I also make sure not to overwater especially. At least my roots will still search for water instead of drowning.

I can't figure out why trimming the large leaves is beneficial. These leafs catch the rays of the sun/or lamp and turn that light into nutrients. Seems to me cutting all of these nutrient making leaves would decrease the potency of the flower. I think of The leaves like they are solar panels, the more leaves the more power. Just a thought.

I live in PA. Currently legal medically here. However I have great knowledge in growing. Any ideas on how to get into growers in a medical state. I still have some to learn. But family has believed in this far beyond when it was legal medically. Obviously we follow laws where i live with cards and the whole 9 yards. But serious question. Anyone have an idea. I'd love to possibly be apprenticed by an experienced grower. It will be recreational here soon, but until then i want to get my foot in the door. i addition to cloning, ever consider taking part of that bottom 1/3, slicing as to graft, and apply root tone to the unleafed branches, directing that bottom 1/3 back into the ground to create a 3 root system?
@amunm.78583 жыл бұрын
What are you even saying right now bro
@gregsmith78283 жыл бұрын
@@amunm.7858 as a sprout, there are 3 stems, all of them leaves. there is the center, which promote vertical movement and the 2, offset, , or even, side stems, , which are for girth of a plant. If, you take the side/girth branches, slice as if you were grafting. instead, use root tone agent, which initiates root growth to those 2 side stems , and plant them via toothpicks and string, back into the ground. You have just created a 3 root system. in doing this, it will absorb water , as well as nutrients faster. . As well, prior to planting, place 1/2 a raw mackerel as the bottom of your planting hole, then coarse rock, gravel, lave rock also works well. then dirt/topsoil. the root system will go wild and your plant will absorb immensely. try just one sample, and compare it to another plant without and you'll see a difference. And your need to add supplemental vitamins will reduce as well.

Those plants are way to little and young to be worrying about trimming the lower branches. What you should be doing is topping them at this stage. And if you top your plants correctly, those lower branches will catch up with the top of the plant. And this will create a good canopy. Then you just trim the little branches off of that lower branch that caught up with the canopy. Good try though dude.

Removing any leaf that is receiving light will decrease the amount of energy produced through photosynthesis. How about the fact that every leaf, receiving adequate light or not is absorbing CO2. Try removing only the apical and lateral leaf buds. You stop further growth on unwanted lower branches, but not wasting the energy put out to produce those branches and leaves. The only reason to remove the leaves fully is if they are not longer a healthy green color and unable to photosynthisise.
@PerfectGardensTV3 жыл бұрын
well said:)
@dominickgarey76573 жыл бұрын
@RLTW I was talking about veg. only. I absolutely agree with you, and I defoliate slowly during flowering to increase light penetration to fill out those lower budsites. The more UV light that hits those flowers directly, the better your buds will look and smell for sure. Between you and your buddy, your quality is better whereas he probably gets a slightly higher yield. It depends on your goals. If your looking to increase light to your lowers, try a small led facing upwards underneath the foliage. Leaves can photosynthesis from below too!
