What a great mod! I love it borderless! This is BY FAR my favorite deck for shadow work and I feel the same way about having the books be such a prominent symbol. It’s an important image for me for the same reasons. Hope you have amazingly intuitive and profound readings with it! ❤️

This looks great. Your reasons (scroll with words) for trimming are exactly how I feel about the Heaven & Earth Tarot. I want to modify it so badly but haven’t been brave enough yet. Feeling more inspired now though. Thanks for the video.

The scroll made me think of Heaven & Earth Tarot, too, which I have and immediately trimmed. It looks so great without the scroll! I only regret that I had zoned out listening to a podcast while trimming and apparently flipped the Hanged Man around, not paying attention to what card it was and probably just seeing an upside-down man and thinking the card was reversed, so I absent-mindedly lopped off the TOP (talk about spacing out while operating a blade, YIKES), and that last lingering scroll haunts me ever since… The Hanged Man teaching me a lesson in surrender as I try to just let it go, I guess. 😆

Thank you for doing this. This is a deck that I have and use. I agree - the banners are too much and very distracting. And that border is okay, but not really for this deck. It really is a distraction. I've been wanting to do it for awhile now, but was worried that it was take too much from the Majors. I like how yours turned out. Will have to try it now!

@@DawnMichelleTarot I like it a lot better so far! I love trimming decks. Definitely frees them up. Was just worried about losing too much, but really it wasn’t that much in the end. I use this deck a lot for when I want to tap into the subconscious. Works really well for that. Love it. Thank you for giving me the courage to do it with this one. Was worried I would mess it up! Now I just gotta decided what all I wanna write on it. I know you don’t like writing on yours, but I do. I think it’s nice sometimes to have that reminder, especially with the elemental connections for me. I saw where you use Sharpie. I prefer the Sharpie Paint myself to write with. (Love the effect with the metallic ones!) Will still wear off eventually. But it’s just as easy (or easier actually at times) to remove with the nail polish remover. (I use Q-tips though.) What I like about it more though - sometimes with the pen/marker you accidently press too hard. And even if you remove the ink, sometimes you can still see the writing from the imprint it leaves. Where-as with the paint, you’re not going to press into the card. Thank you again for making this vid.

I love the purpose you've chosen this deck for, and as a writer I feel I need to do this confrontational work too - but I know too much about HP Lovecraft to want a deck based on his work and with his portrait on the back of every card. I guess I'll need to find another deck that scratches the same itch. Hope this doesn't put you off, though!

You can always get rid of the sharpie with a little rubbing alcohol when you get familiar with the deck, and there are also much finer tip permanent markers on the market. You might want to look into one of those roller stamps that have the entire numerical/alphabet on it, and some Stayz On- I just wrote some notations on my newly trimmed Margarete Petersen deck, and I wish I had used my roller stamp to do it!

Lovely video, Dawn Michelle! May I make a suggestion if it's ok? A trigger warning for the Hanged Man in this particular deck would have been appreciated, as I'm sure some out there really struggle with that particular imagery. I recently did a restructure and mod of my John Bauer (inspired by you!!) and wrote my new titles on my cards in metallic sharpies. I ended up writing mine in different areas, wherever my eye was drawn too so it didn't cover up any important art.
@DawnMichelleTarot3 жыл бұрын

Um, no. You should stop trimming decks. It destroys the resale value. You should respect the artist original vision. Sure there’s part of the Mona Lisa I don’t like and I’m tempted to fix some Picassos but I don’t.
@Majora_Arcana3 жыл бұрын
What a stupid comment. You know that some people don’t resell their decks ? Also some buyers don’t mind if it’s trimmed ? It’s her decks, she do what she wants with them. Modifying your deck is an amazing way to make it your own. Your comment is pointless and disrespectful.
@DawnMichelleTarot3 жыл бұрын
If I was trimming the original work of art I would be tempted to agree with you... However this is a copy, a reproduction. It's more accurate to say that trimming a mass produced deck is similar to trimming a postcard featuring the Mona Lisa... Comparing it to defacing a priceless work of art is just silly. If trimmed decks offend you, you might wish to find another channel to watch as I will continue to do what I wish with the things that I own.
@lexwithbub3 жыл бұрын
This isn't the original art, it's a reproduction, on card. But you know what? If you actually owned the original Mona Lisa, you could do whatever the hell you wanted with it. That's the thing about buying something - Once you buy it, you are free to do whatever you want with it. Regardless of whether it's a print/reproduction or the original art. If you're going to get upset about what someone might do with your art, then don't sell your art.
