I'm quite a new sub and just did so shortly before you mentioned your surgery. I was hoping you'd have a bit of an update. I struggled with my weight in some way or another for years, and likely still would if not for moving out into the country. Way out deep in the country. To the forests of west-central Alberta, Canada. By the Rockie Mountains. There was absolutely no way anyone was going to be able to say, 'I told you so' or 'You'll never hack it. You're a woman' Thank God my pride is bigger than my appetite!! Haha! It took 10 years of backbreaking work but now I have a nice little place for me, my dogs, a couple of horses, my plants, and my vegetable garden. Plus, I live off mostly off the grid. It's a great place for my grandkids to come to visit. City kids seldom wake up to the sound of a moose walking past their bedroom window or wolves singing out their pre-hunt calls from across the valley. That's the best part!! They'll have memories to last a lifetime.

@@heatherydew3361 Thanks! It's the only life I'll live now. I truly don't think I could ever live in a city or even a town again. Maybe in a hamlet, on the outskirts! Haha!

Hi Trina! So I'm 7 weeks post bypass (op was 25th Aug 2022), 3 stone down and just starting to navigate soft solids. Like you, food was my emotional crutch for many years too. I've found that immersing myself in activities I really love gives me so much joy and that's been my way of "replacing" the focus on food to make me happy. I'm doing swing&jive dancing and also sing in a choir and I find myself much more focused on those things now rather than constantly thinking about food 😊. Good luck with your journey! Xx

One of the best experiences I had was at Burnley hospital when I had a breast lump removed. It was my first surgery and the lady in the room which goes into theatre was Chinese and I was so nervous and wanted to run but she spoke to me in Chinese, didn’t understand a word but she said they were special words to calm me down and it worked, next thing I knew I woke up in recovery. I don’t know this ladies name but she was an angel and I say that because I returned to The hospital two weeks after surgery to thank everyone and give some chocolates and I asked after the Chinese lady and no one knew who I meant. Make of this story what you will, I don’t understand it but I never saw her again and never found anyone who knew her, even though I had multiple appts. At the hospital xxxxx Thankyou Chinese lady xxx

I am loving these videos. I am 7 weeks post bypass today and it is great to follow your journey whilst I am on my own journey. I can identify with so much of what you say. My husband was amazing throughout my surgery and recovery, I cannot thank him enough as you said about Adam. I went for the bypass because I am type 2 diabetic (already in remission) and this is the recommended surgery for some with my medical condition and my weight. It’s amazing how little we can eat now and for me, how little I actually want food. Like you said, the head hunger is the only hunger we really feel but it is a new experience eating out and not being able to eat and drink what we normally would. I ate out for the first time last weekend for my husband’s birthday and ordered a starter which I ate about a 1/3 of and my husband ate the rest. I was delighted with how well it went and I am chuffed to know that I can still do fairly normal things. I hope your journey continues as well as it has been so far and looking forward to following along. X

Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I had the gastric sleeve on August 29, 2022. I #1 goal to have this surgery was to reduce the diabetic medication I was taking. As of today, I am off of three of the six I was taking before surgery. So I consider myself successful so far. I am so tired of people always asking me how much have I lost so far. My weight lost have been slow. I have gained and loss since surgery. Please keep posting your follow ups. Thank you.

I get your hesitancy about having to deal with a scale when it has caused problems in the past. ❤️ One thing I've admired about you AND am trying to adopt is that you don't seem fixated about what number is in the tag and are happy to just go with what is comfortable and gives you a look you are happy with.Thank you for that! I am around your size and would love a giveaway of hand me downs. Or a link to where you are selling them from - I'd support you by purchasing.

Non food rewards ideas: treat yourself to a massage or mani/pedi, new lipstick, a new book or magazine or a cosy scarf, or set a goal for something bigger like a new handbag when you reach a certain goal - I did that when I did Couch to 5K- it was quite motivational! Or have an at home pamper - face mask, foot spa etc. Lots of lovely things that aren’t food related. Well done on your journey so far. I'm currently doing Noom which is a great programme to retrain your thoughts around food and is helping me to eat more mindfully - and I'm a stone down, bonus!

This is such a, open and honest Answer session to questions TQ. I will be supporting my daughter going thro Gastric Bypass. I am a nurse so have all information but so much harder when it is your daughter we are both fire signs so can really clash both usually have a fair point but we see words and forget to listen. I feel comfortable directing her here to get clear facts. While on pre surgery programne she found it difficult as well having to have weigh in days it was very much a trigger for her but felt it was only her feeling that way so that sensible attitude of realising for you scales are a issue so only doing monthly weight updates, would encourage my daughter her feelings are ok

I have the same thoughts about the scale. When I did my most successful weight loss many years ago, I got too into the scale and did inches lost and how clothes fit instead. Now, I go by how I feel. Do I feel I can go on a 10 minute walk? How about 15 minutes? I did a walking program going from a 10 minute walk to a 30 minute walk in 2 months (gradually working up time and pace). I didn't step on a scale the entire time. Once I got to the 30 minute mark, I wound up breaking my ankle (unfortunate timing), but when I went to the doctor, that was the first time I was on a scale and I had lost 15 pounds. I knew my clothes were looser and I felt better. So maybe if you just weigh monthly and go more on how you feel and how your clothes fit, that would be better for you. Now that my ankle is healed, I am getting a new FitBit and going to start back on that easy walking journey again. Good luck!

Hi Trina! As far as measuring yourself I would recommend having someone else do it if you are comfortable with that. As a professional seamstress I have noticed that is extremely hard for the average person to measure themself accurately. Having someone else measure allows them to ensure that the measuring tape is in the proper placement and is consistent between measurements. You could also try watching videos with tips on how to measure as it's really easy to do incorrectly!

I love your attitude! When you were talking about emotional eating and how you realised you would have to talk to loved ones over turning to food for comfort that really struck me. I feel I keep my feelings to myself and turn to food for support, I’d never thought about it like that before! I’d be interested in your thoughts on self love/ acceptance. I’m currently trying to lose weight but have been struggling between feelings of wanting to lose weight vs wanting to be able to love myself at any weight. Not sure if that makes sense haha

Yesterday was my 2 yr anniversary with VSG. I had to think a bit to come up with even one thing that I miss. The only thing I can think of is I miss how I didn't used to get cold easily. I LOVE that I now don't get hot pretty much ever (I live in a hot climate), but in winter it is a challenge being cold all the time. Something I never see talked about after WLS is that not everyone needs skin removal. I went from 262 lbs to 133 lbs and I definitely don't need skin removal. I have barely any loose skin, it's there but because there's no subcutaneous fat, it's like tissue paper, not rolls. Zero chance any surgeon would remove it, but I avoid wearing very very short skirts without tights, because my inner thighs don't look as smooth as I'd like. But loose skin isn't a foregone conclusion for everyone. I didn't do anything to prevent it. It's just the luck of the draw, maybe.

I found you through your video revealing that you’ll be getting the surgery and have fallen in love with your channel. You’ve inspired me to want to start my own clothing channel... and I’m also considering getting weight loss surgery. I’ve been struggling with my weight for years... losing and gaining. My little sister got the sleeve surgery this spring and has been having success with it so far. As for the clothes giveaway, I’d love that! I think I’m close to your size... maybe a bit smaller since I’m shorter 5’5” (my sis is 5’10”).

Being 8 years post op now pre op i loved savoury foods never sweet since my op everything I crave is sweet foods I do combat this by choosing fruits but the odd sweet treat , from people I spoke with many post op said that their food tastes changed , its a strange one for sure , so pleased your doing so well you look amazing you can see the changes already, as for clothing giveaway I would be interested in taking part although not my sizing should I win I offer them to homeless shelter along the road from me and they would really appreciate them , maybe thats an option or a womens refuge ,and I remember being in that situation of being homeless with only 1 dress to wear ,I often donate clothing I collect from family and friends and hygiene packs aswell to them but you do whats best for you wishing you all the best on the next stage of your journey

Trina!! We are just a few weeks/days? Apart. My surgery was 8/26 :) VSG. The things I crave and live now are veggies and fruit! I love cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, PICKLES OMG YUMM, and grapes and watermelon. I try not to have too many fruits at this stage but ugh its so hard since we have to focus on protein i wish I could eat veg and fruit all day instead of protein 😂😂😂

1 Timothy 2:5-6 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all-the testimony that was given at just the right time. 𝐉𝐄𝐒𝐔𝐒 𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓 𝑜𝑓 𝑁𝑎𝑧𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑡ℎ, fully GOD, fully Man ⁽ᵇᵒʳⁿ ᵒᶠ ᵀᴴᴱ ᴴᴼᴸʸ ˢᴾᴵᴿᴵᵀ ᵃⁿᵈ ᵒᶠ ᴹᵃʳʸ ᵗʰᵉ ᵛᶦʳᵍᶦⁿ⁾ and sinless, walked on earth, performing miracles and many wonders proving HIS deity, died a bloody death on the Cross for our sins. Without JESUS CHRIST dying for you and me, we were sentenced to the death penalty of eternal separation from CHRIST, and HELL, which was a place prepared for the Devil and his angels. It is a fiery pit full of blackness and darkness, gnashing of teeth, eternal torment and punishment. In other words, YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO THERE...but that is the sentence that we all deserved because the wages of sin is death. GOD came up with a Master plan to save us and give us REDEMPTION through 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙇𝙊𝙍𝘿 𝙅𝙀𝙎𝙐𝙎 𝘾𝙃𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙏. And CHRIST took our sins on HIS own body, receiving the punishment and wrath of GOD which was due to us. So our sins were imputed on HIS body at the CROSS, and HE died, was buried in a tomb which was sealed off, and resurrected on the 3rd day seen by Peter and then 12 disciples, over 500 witnesses, James HIS brother and the Apostles, HE ascended up into Heaven before many to sit at the Right Hand of THE FATHER in Heaven. This means that GOD accepted HIS sacrifice on the Cross for our sins. Which means that when JESUS CHRIST returns, we will be caught up with HIM and have immortality with HIM, back in fellowship as it was in the Beginning of Creation, in HIS PRESENCE, seeing HIM face to face, know HIM as we are known by HIM. No hatred, crime, wickedness in sin. No more tears, no more pain, perfect peace and Harmony with OUR GOD THE FATHER, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, HIS HOLY SPIRIT. No one else but JESUS CHRIST could die for our sins, because HE was sinless and perfect. So when we believe in JESUS, we are no longer on death row, we are spared from the death penalty and JESUS CHRIST, and HIS Righteousness is credited to us. Acts 4:11-12 11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” "Fear God, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters." Proverbs 28:13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. Psalm 86:5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. Romans 10:8-13 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Ezekiel 33:11 11 Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’ Isaiah 55:6-8 Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.
