I'm Filipino American that grew up around a lot of Trinis in Queens, NY. Not only is roti the best "curry chicken wrap" in the world, in my opinion it's literally the best DISH in the world - period. Literally better than all other foods I've had. Trinis absolutely perfected East Indian curries making them nice and light and citrusy with the sweetness of the tamarind, all wrapped in the perfect flaky, soft, chewy partha roti. I could eat roti everyday of my life.

Brings back memories of my grand mother making this for me and my cousins to take on our school outing each year. We’d look forward to this food as much as the different places we were scheduled to see. For a girl from the bush going to the city for an excursion, it was always a joyful and memorable occasion.

In my extensive travel within the Caribbean Islands, I have found that the roti from Trinidad and Tobago is the utmost best, their sense of blending herbs and other seasoning in their healthy array of foods, in general, is AMAZING.....HANDS DOWN!!! Guyanese roti is also yummy. Nice video.

YESSS for sanitizing your sink and counter (if it got splashed) afterward!!! ❤❤❤Just get a spray bottle fill 1/4 of the bottle with bleach and top with water OR buy the clorox spray that's shown. 5 mins on the counter and sink and wipe off, rinse your cloth and wipe area. There's also the clorox wipes but don't forget to wipe off with your damp cloth after. It's so very important guys. Oh and NOT microfibre, J cloth or A cloth whatever they call it now. Many thanks as always Ria.

I learned how to make a lot of Trinidadian dishes from my son‘s grandmother. That’s also from Trinidad as I go to yours and look at yours yours look amazing. Because she’s no longer here I can’t ask her. I noticed that the recipe is similar, but you add different touches as well so is that because you’re from a different part of Trinidad she’s from San Fernando.

Wow!!! This looks delicious! Thank you for your clear explanation. It brings back so many wonderful memories of the past. When my mother and older sisters were in the kitchen making this whole dish. I am Surinamese and I live in the Netherlands. We have many of the same dishes, but we make them slightly different. Which two curry powders exactly do you use for the chicken?
@calypsomusicgeorgerampersad6 ай бұрын
As usual, great video. Authentic Trinidadian food. One small observation: When the chicken is out into the hot oil and curry it is not "chownkay", it is "bhoonjay". It comes from the Urdu word "bhuna" which means "fried". Plase do not regard this as a criticism but as a language correction.

Also where did you buy your roti stone and paddle? Fun fact! Trinidad and Tobago, and Mauritius have the same cuisine! I thought dholl puri was available only in Mauritius!! Coming to Canada and eating in a Trinidadien restaurant I was amazed by the similarities that our foods have! Yes! Curried chicken & dholl puri is good :P But you should try "dholl puri, gros poids (lima beans)" in Mauritius. It is 100% veg and very good as well. There is a restaurant which in Toronto which sells the Mauritian dholl puri and the veg curries!
