This is the George Sequence out of the UHD version of Trinity and Beyond - the Atomic Bomb Movie. This version contains new footage of the explosion which has since been declassified from the old morph that was in the film.
Note: I know the sound track is messed up but it has been fixed in the 4K version available on Vimeo:

@@dziban303 actually, what i am saying is that ive seen this shot on broadcast television, on vhs, on dvd, on bluray, and a remastered bluray. Peter Kuran did have this footage remastered in 4k. I hope to see it properly released on a 4k ultra hd bluray. And no matter how its presented here on you tube, the newly remastered footage reveals more detail than ive ever seen over hundreds of times of viewing that minute or so of amazing film. Thats all. Any person with eyes and a memory can tell the footage looks clearer than it ever has. Meanwhile, you are arguing with a stranger over linguistic semantics. My initial harmless statement did not require a conversation or argument. Im just happy to see the George Event look better than it ever has. If you dont like it, i have several suggestions for you…

Most put Ivy Mike a year and a half later as the entrance into the thermonuclear age, but this shot actually represents the first time humans ignited thermonuclear fusion fuel. That the fusion yield didn't exceed the yield of the primary, and effectively only acted as a booster, is really fairly irrelevant in my view. The figure of merit for breakeven and ignition is only the ratio of energy into the fuel vs energy out exceeding unity.

The first Classical Super test! Ulam and Teller's first child! Basically an extremely crude first attempt to generate a tiny amount of fusion by placing a small cylinder of liquid deuterium/tritium (you can see the cylinder being loaded from a dewar at 0:32) in the centre of a torus shaped primary. A totally useless design as a weapon (although the thought of a nuclear donut with sprinkles falling onto some enemy city is black comedy), but it paved the way for the axial primary/secondary design later on. The extremely asymmetric design is interesting. I wonder if it created any similar asymmetric post-detonation effects. The Homunculus Nebula comes to mind. lol

It's an experimental device to test if thermonuclear fusion is possible at all. There's a dewar capsule with D+T mixture in center of torus. The torus implodes around capsule, starts fission reactions, radiates neutrons and heats up and compresses D+T capsule. Deuterium and trituim begin fusion reactions. And fusion reactions generate high-energy neutrons wich can be detected. It made this way so fast thermonuclear neutrons could escape from the sides without any obstacles and could be captured with detectors. The device itself utilized radial implosion. It was not an light and 'effective burning' device intended to be a weapon, but a scientific instrument. But it also became the biggest explosion to the date.
