Trinity Dairy at the County Fair

It's the moment the kids have been preparing for. The Carlton County Fair! This year the kids entered a record number of 4-H projects. Everything from cows and chickens to corn and cookies. There's a lot of work that goes into preparing for the fair. With 16 head of cattle, we also had a lot of work to do. Cattle needed washing and clipping, perfecting the show walk, and packing all of the needed supplies. Finally, the fair is here! Come along as we share Justin's beef show, the pedal pull, the tractor pull, the dairy show, and all the rest of the fun everyone had!

Trinity Dairy was established in 2006, in Minnesota. Alan and Jennifer farm with their 5 children; Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Jason. We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. I want to thank all of you kids for making your parents so proud of you as I am sure they must be. The smiles on your faces say more than words can express. The number of blue ribbons that I saw were rewards for all of the effort that each on you put into preparing for the fair. I, as are your parents, am so proud of all of you. Alan and Jan, your videos capture the very essence of farm life and what it is like as a young boy or girl growing up on the farm. There is so much life to be learned in watching these videos. 4-H is the best learning opportunity. I have fond memories of fair time. I learned to crochet in 4-H and it is still my favorite hobby 46 years later. Great job everyone! Stay safe, and God bless.

Gotta love Fair time! There are few things better than a young person getting a Blue or Purple Ribbon for showing how hard they worked to EARN it! 4H and FFA are the best 2 organizations for youth, they learn to win and lose, going against others that may become lifelong friends, even if they are competing in the ring. This video brought tears to my eyes remembering back when I was your kids age and how special the fair was. So much time and effort, blood, sweat, and tears goes into making a livestock project ready for the fair. And it was always the best time even though everyone is completely exhausted. Great life lessons are learned through 4H and animal husbandry that will last your children the rest of their lives no matter where they go. You have an absolutely wonderful family and thank you so much for letting all of us see it.

WOW! You all did so well. Love your cows and love how well you care for them. Very impressed with your awards. Congratulations to everyone!! Cattle can be so unpredictable sometimes, but yours were lovely. How did the young one break his arm? Hope he is able to get the cast off soon. It looked like so much fun at the fair. I was in 4-H long ago, took flowers, brownies and sewing. My cooking didn't do so well, but I continued with the sewing. One of the best things about sewing is that you can generally make almost anything if you want to or alter something to fit better. It always seems like children grow so much in the summer, kind of like the crops. Hope you have had enough rain. We had some severe weather last week, with a tornado or two about 15 miles from here. Unfortunately, one heavily damaged a centennial farm, but you know how communities pull together when things like this happen, and they will recover. The storms took out power all the way from Grand Rapids to Detroit, and I think over 500,000 people were affected. It looks like almost everyone has had their electricity restored now. Our part of town managed to keep its power, which was a real Blessing. Take Care and May God Truly continue to Bless, Encourage and Protect You.

Joshua was at a 4-H meeting where a bunch of the older boys were jumping off the top of a corral fence. Joshua wanted to try it, but he didn't land on his feet like the older boys did. Hopefully, the cast will be able to come off today!
