Pitching those pens is one of the first "heavier duty" I did back in my early youth. I suspect that's par for all of us as kids on a dairy farm. Good job guys!!

Yes, reminds me of my Dad and I forking out the calf pens in the barn. At least we didn't need to use a wheel barrow and fork it 2x ! Park the spreader by one of the doors and it went in direct. Dad taught me to wet my gloves in the drinking cups so to get a better grip on the fork handle and less likely to get blisters. We had a Minnesota spreader similar to yours but it was a larger 160 bushel. If I could go back in time 40yrs ago, one picture I would want to have taken would be me and my Dad standing next to a full spreader by the barn with our boots on and holding our forks, haha. Also shoveled a lot of ear corn in the Gehl feed mill.

Howdy Allen, Jen, Family, I hope ya'll are doing well, Always good to see the Family helping out with chores, doing their part, our parents were exactly the same way, we all had our chores to do, it keeps our Family close, and teaches us to work together to get the jobs done safely and on time, builds character, and brings the Family closer together, I remember a neighbor commenting once when i was about 11/12 years old, and my Friend's Dad said he'd never seen kids on any farm, work so hard, i remember thinking to myself, what a strange thing for an adult to say ?? I never once thought we were being worked to hard, I loved working hard on our Family Farm, helping my parents raise our beef, horses, grow our own feed, that was living, and 5th generation later, still is living, oh by the way Allen, Jen, i just received my my second shirt and hat yesterday, of all the Farm shirts, hats, toques, Trinity Dairy is the one I get asked most about, Thank you, Stay safe, God Bless and Farm on my Friends

Tks for sharing. Seeing calf pens cleaning brings back memories. It's good to see your young men taking on a job and seeing it though. How's Demi doing? Jessica working her 4H things? You just feed straight corn gain? Or do you mix a dairy concentrate with a protein with it?

If this is the same spreader that you stated the beater teeth were sharp ?? And clean ?? It could use some serious help / work ! Just saying !
@trinitydairy7 ай бұрын
The beaters are fine, I actually have taken the angle grinder and sharpened the teeth, they do have a few pieces of twine on them, but not bad. A bigger issue with that spreader is that the apron is only one speed, and it as a lot faster than I would like for pen pack manure, especially with this manure, because it wasn't straw, it was long bedding hay.
