the opera line is ok as well as the comparable Alto TS210 , we have used both and no issues with either when used correctly, but they are a 10" speaker with limited output , it depends on what you are going to use them for ????

Last series looked very ordinary no foam or full grill only half grill, please do a test on the LVX series and how they justify the price being around double , i only want to know about the FOH series not the XM foldback series as you've already done that series.

Hi ;-) Due to back problems I've had to get rid of my 18" active sub set with 15"tops, now I'm looking at a new more portable set, I like the look of the db 1002's as a twin set or a twin set of db615 subs together with 12" opera tops, I need them for Dj indoor events in small to medium size rooms with up to 300 people, what is your opinion on which set would be best for my purpose, I don't want something that I have to push to the max all the time. The 1002's for your use and application would work great. But, the LF box with the dual 12's in it , is heavy around 65 pounds from what I recall. But the sound from a pair of those for 300 peeps will rock the event for sure. Keep in mind the dual 12's are not a true subwoofer but a low frequency system on steroids so to speak. It is doing double duty, but does it very well.

@@trinityprosound In the end I went for a traditional set up, I ordered 2 of the RCF ART 712a Mk4 tops and one of the RCF 905A Mk2 subs, I will see first how the system is with one sub and maybe get a second in the future, but from comments I received it looks like with the one sub and those tops I should be good for up to 150-200 people, thanks for all the advice you gave ;-) now just wait for the box's to be delivered :-) Cheers Mike ;-)

Thanks for the great review. At 21:00 plus it looks like the speaker tracks really good except at the low frequencies. Can I expect the Opera 15 to track better on the low end? And does that come at a cost at the higher frequencies? Does this data suggest pairing with a sub is a must? thanks again for a great video review.

yes, with a larger driver it will, but a dedicated sub will always be recommended for low frequency extension. the opera 15 is a great 2 way speaker, and no you will not loose HF with going to a larger driver for the LF

It is similar to neither, in that it has more power than the 71X or the 91X series and more RMS power than ART 31x series. This speaker has 600WRMS in it and is quite good sounding. Solid Digipro amp used and the drivers are very similar to the FM series units. they have upped the game with this one and now they have come out with the new UNICA with FIR filters and 900WRMS www.dbtechnologies.com/en/products/opera/opera-unica-12-p4358.aspx

It is . Look at the amp in the video it looks same as DVA series in monitors, etc., just less power, not most recent version but is in the digipro series.

not really, we have used similar speakers and also Alto's and not had any issues with the amps at all, we have had renters blow the speakers out from solid clipping, but no amp issues at all. if you look at this speaker and the Alto's , looks like the same OEM company may be making them in China.

That subwoofer does not have a built in crossover, you would have to use an external like DBX or equal

Hello there. Great video! I was wondering if You could help me out with a problem I'm struggling with. I have an Opera 402D speakers I bought 2 days ago, used, but in mint condition. Indicator LED blue light (on the front) on one of them is turned off. How do I turn it on? Maybe the LED is dead and should be replaced, but I think it's just switched off. If You know how to turn it on, please share. Thanks in advance!

After I wrote this comment yesterday, I did whole lotta searching. In some online manual I found this: ''To change the state of the front LED, press and release for several times (6 times) the MODE switch during switch on, when all the LEDs ( Limiter , Signal and Ready ) on the amplifier module are off. To restore front LED operation, repeat the operation.'' I tried to achieve to press the button 6 times before all the led signalization on the back is on, but just can't manage to succeed. 3 seconds is not enough for one to press that button six times. Must be some other way, or that little ''bulb'' is certainly dead. :D Thanks for Your time.

Hi, I've an Opera 215 Lyric with a problem with the sensitivity switch on the backside below the volume knob. I need to replace it but I'm not able to pull the electronic board out of the box, I removed all screws on the backside but cant lift the panel, it feels like it is glued on, do I need to remove the complete front of the speaker? Thanks for any tips

Possibly there may be screws inside that can only be accessed from the front...we have found this on several speakers in the past.

Hi, we have Hype 8. The amplifier noise makes them unusable for music in interior, exterior is no problem. Is Opera series quiet ehough, when no sound is played and the speaker is turned on? Or should I look on LVX? Usage is in a bar for small bands + dB SUB 05D subwoofers. So 8" or 10" is preferrable because of size. Thank you.

It sounds like you have the input gain all the way up ? typically setting at ½ way is the norm. What input mixer are you using? When we did the video on the B-Hype, we maintained input gain at 50% and did not experience any noise or hiss anomalies with it. Let me know your setup ....BTW opera boxes are quite nice and a bit more of a quality speaker IMO

amplifier "gain" does not change the noise, it is probably a passive attenuator before maxed out amp, maybe it is other version of the same model?

thanks for kindness, i work as a sound engineer for 5 years, mostly with Martin Audio and l'Acoustics, we needed to buy something small, cheap and very portable for not so demanding uses, so we went for Hype 8, it is possible to use in louder spaces and exterior (because the wind and distance covers the noise), now I am looking for more quality box for interior (theatre bar) where silence is required, priced around LVX

Start with Opera for next level, then LVX , then the DVX line as you go up in price, also the quality of the speaker is much better and better drivers, amplifiers and tuning of the DSP.

for the price point and quality they are pretty decent speakers. i would say in line with the ALTO PRO 3 series stuff. we are Alto dealers as well, and those for the price point are OK. I think the Unica has a bit more engineering behind them from dB.

The HD12 or HD32 or the ART 712 are excellent speakers. IMO the HD12 will be your best bet as has a bit better sound IMO than ART. You should be able to get into a pair for around $1000 of the HD12

Possibly, some are full range power supplies and allow 120 and 240 v operation with the change of a fuse supplied with the unit, some are fixed and can't be changed. It looks like the Opera is either one or the other and not changing internally with a jumper. they do not list that it is an auto-ranging input power amp. with the back of the amp showing one or the other , they typically mark which voltage it is made for...

trinityprosound yes it is. Sadly i didnt found the ansewr yet. Mine are only 110v and i need them to be 220v. I wrote db tech trough Instagram, facebook and their web. But i dont think they can provide that info openly. Anyway i will open it to see what i can find. Usually a jumper change can do the work but depends on how the circuit is.

Getting off the subject of the Opera , will you do a test on the DB LVX series? they seem to be lower spec'd than the OPERA (EX 1" COMPARED TO 1.4" & THEY DON'T TELL YOU WHAT THE VOICE COIL IS ON THE BASS ON THE LVX SPECS) also the spl is lower but cost is a lot higher could you explain why there are these differences?

We did one on the LVX monitor. The amps and drivers and construction is similar across the entire line. They do sound nice, I think better than Flexsys series but a a higher price point.

The LVX has more power than the Opera by 200 watts , the LVX has rotatable horn assembly looks like HF drivers are most likely the same or very similar. LVX has better amp in it , LVX is a step up from Opera and a more professional speaker. We may do a video in the future , but they would have to send us a speaker to do so.

No, there is not really a similar RCF box to these only thing that comes close is the ART 3 series. These boxes are priced below the ART 3 series and in a different market or target market.

2 things: 1st how does this compare with the previous series as they were pretty ordinary with the basic 1" horn 2nd how does it compare against the Presonus Air 12 (that i own) the Air goes really hard and in Australia where i am they go for about the same price. Also even though i personally am no going to buy the BH series how do they compare in sound to the Chromo+ series.

The amp and DSP is much better as well as cabinet construction of the new Opera boxes. it is a basic horn and LF driver, but the shaping of the flare is much better in this series. not sure how it compares to presonus. we don't have access to the presonus speakers , but the presonus speaker is not the same as this ...so you really can't make a comparison . the MAP on this mox is $399 while the presonus box is $599 so they are in different leagues with the DSP , screen, etc. I think the presonus would compare more with the ALTO Black series. The BH will most likely be on par with the Chromo plus series, and the price point will amaze most for what you get from the new BH speakers. The 15" was our favorite in that series.

Yes it most likely will since it is rated in true RMS power and the others fudge their numbers , it is hard to make a "numbers comparison" since not all mfr play the same game with the specs. Take QSC they rate theirs at 1000w, but really more like 500w RMS and the others not sure how they get those numbers when power consumption is listed at 100W? The thing is unless you are going to buy once , cry once for a really good quality speaker...many of the offerings in this price point range will do a "ok" job and most people won't notice or care. And it is all subjective. What sounds good to me , may not sound good to you and vice versa. If they all had the same standards to present their numbers we could make an educated guess, but with things all over the board...it is a crap shoot and who would have the most volume and at what frequency would that max volume be at ?

trinityprosound I've tested the presonus against quite a few brands and it has been louder than all of them and to me it's about as loud as the DXR which is a loud plastic box the horn is not perfect it's a 1.35 but if the right frequencies are tweaked it sounds very good.

+George Georgio I agree, the Yamaha DXR speakers are better than the QSC K series in many ways (albeit newer). 1, they're cheaper. 2, they are flatter and easier to tune to a room (some people prefer the smile EQ of the QSC K's). 3, they hold their composure much better near limits while still getting louder. Finally 4, they have symmetrical monitor positioning (critical for boxes with the horn beside the woofer if you're running two boxes for 1 muso). I don't know how Yamaha has rated their DXR speakers but I think their numbers are more realistic VS QSC. I mean how can a 1100w peak active speaker, go louder with less compromise than a box that is supposedly rated at 2000w peak???
