SURVIVING a Day on the RANCH in WOLF Country!

Northern Montana is wolf and grizzly bear country! Trinity takes his horse Calibar to help on this ranch as they count their cows and get ready for the year. When you spend the day with a rancher, it will be one of the longest days most people have experienced.

This is a great channel. So informative and such good people. Hopefully they are never found by Washington DC. As a transplant from San Diego to Colorado some 40 years ago I have met great ranchers that would allow me to hunt Pronghorn on their land. I am in awe of how hard they work, and what they give to their land. My favorite landowner's wife invited me in for coffee when I came by to see her husband one day and she handed my a broken cell phone and asked if I thought it could be fixed. I said I didn't think so as it was smashed. I asked how it was broken she said her husband had it in his shirt pocket when a steer knocked him down in a corral and then stepped on his chest and broke the phone. Now her husband was mid 70s at that time and I'm thinking he must have been seriously injured, but she laughed and said he's to tough for that, just a couple cracked ribs. At mid 70s!!! Calibar is so beautiful. You can tell he must get some good healthy nutritions. His coach es glistens in the Sun and he has got a little belly on him. Perfect! He is so beautiful! With that turning that head just to make it more difficult for his human!😂 Wonder what he'll figure out next.... Trinity, best u stay on ur toes with that one! Thanks for the explanation on that how nonprofit played in here to this ranch cuz right away I was wondering. U are so good to clear things up like that. I believe (scripturally speaking) inside u, Trinity, is a teaching spirit! That is the main reason u do this for us and we greatly appprieciate u! I've been fortunate enough to have had my own horse and trained to show trail horses, but these ranching particulars are another story altogether! I know what ur saying about those l-o-n-g days. At 38yrs, I volunteered at a Midwestern church camp to wrangle horses handle trail rides with an unexperienced friend. Wrangling horses, that were allowed to run wild the other 10 mos of the year, and miraculously, instantly ready to put children in the saddle proved to be QUITE the challenge. Having only eight animals to work with, I figured out there were two that cud not be trusted for the first two weeks or so, not untill some more handling issues were worked on. 7am in the pasture gathering up horses. Grooming, taching up, Working with the animals AND the volunteer helpers, my kids plus other teens (that u know are there for the horses, mine were). It was barely 9 am and I was full of, covered up with, *horse pucky n sweat, exhausted and still had an entire hot n humid day of trail rides to go. I'll never forget how something I did and luved as a teen had become so much hard, exhausting work! 🥴 *a unique mixture of horse snot, hair, spit, feed, & grime- LOVELY STUFF!

Another fine vedio Trinity.was wondering if you have heard about environmental groups pressuring major banks not to lend money for ranching they claim that it is bad for the planet, if they only knew what ranching did for conservation of the land and the betterment of the enviorment maby they would stop doing things to try to put ranchers out of business. I am no pro at counting myself but have an Idea. Record on Camera so you can pause or go in slow motion playback. Or another Idea have one person just say 2 ,6 , 5, and another person writing that down then add them up so you dont have to track in you head. Great video

Got a question??? Ownership of land vs. leasing??? Not sure if you already covered that but I know owning property was a huge life saver to farmers in my area during the 1980's grain restrictions so was wondering how this affects ranchers.

Owning vs leasing land for agriculture is such a complicated question. Every rancher or farmer in the west has a different combination of leased and owned land. There are private leases, public land leases, state and federal land leases. All of them are different and all of them are different types of land. I am going to attempt to cover some of those options in future videos, but it is difficult because it is so multifaceted.

I’m so glad my cows and I are not in wolf or bear country. Never even been to where they are. You have to be raised in that area to deal with that. I would be prison. If it’s my pasture and it’s not mine and could possibly harm the pasture or cattle it’s dead or soon will be. It’s a constant battle with dogs, coyotes, badgers, armadillos, and hogs. I have it simple compared to those guys.
