Scott I can sure respect your compassion for your " prodigy". We pour ourselves into our chosen profession and become physically and emotionally drained by uncontrollable failures and cry a little over it and keep moving forward because that's what it takes. We NEED more men like you in the world . Thanks Trinity for bringing these folks to our attention. Blessings upon y'all.

Trinity, Thank you so much for introducing us to Scott and his cattle herd and way of raising cows and calves. I was raised on a 100 acre farm from 3rd grade to 11th grade. We were care takers for the farm and 100 head of cows. I loved my life there. My parents bought a 12 acre farmette then added 3 more acres later on when a neighbor wanted to sell her property to my parents. I loved living on the farms, The land, the space, the fresh air, gardening, the animals... I loved the baby calves. I consider myself a child of the Earth. I would go back to farm life in a heartbeat if I was financially able. But I made a big error in marrying a city boy who knew NOTHING ABOUT FARMING. He was a bonified "CITY SLICKER". I miss my hills of Tennessee, the farm, everything about farm life. I keep praying for God to send me back to the farm but you know the Scripture " Father, not my will but thy will be done." So here I sit living farm life thru you anx all your friends and neighbors as well as Mike and Erin on Our Wyoming Life. I love your properties they are so absolutely different. His pretty much praire land and yours mountainous both beautiful. They fill a need -a longing in me to be on a farm. You have no idea how much I would love to go out and ride( though I am not any good at it) and spend time on your ranch. Please know that you are a very special man doing a very special job educating God's people about where their food comes from and the labor intensive life it is for the ranchers and farmers. I know how hard it is having lived it. One winter we had a calf that was born in a blizzard. When my dad found her she was almost frozen so he brought her to the house. They, mama and daddy, put cardboard down on the kitchen floor. Coverd it with hay and called the vet. When he got there they started swinging her by her legs lengthwise vack and forth to get her blood flowing. Then they would stop and givd mouth to mouth resuscitation tgen swing her some more. They did that for a couple of hours. When she started coming around mama warned her some milk. We gad one Jersey cow so baby cow got whole cows milk warmed up. The vet left some colostrum powder to mix with the whole milk. We cranked up the heat in the house( oil furnace) and used towels to keep her rubbed down and stimulate circulation. Wr jepg her in the kitchen 3 days. By then her mom wouldn't take her to nurse so we bottle fed her til she was old enough to ween. The owner of the farm gave her to us and she gave us some awesome calves during her life time. I love those memories and the farm life, 1 acre garden and all. Please keep posting and explaining about ranching and the history of your state. All tge facts you don't find in books. Love and payers for you and your ministry because that is what you have believe it of not. You are teaching Gods people things they won't find in books or on TV shows about the world God created and how you and other ranchers are taking care of it as He instructed. Again, Thank you for contributing all you do to mankind. I greatly appreciate it. Anne-Marie Olka Titusville , Florida

I feel like I could report for work in the morning, though don't expect me. Again, you have taught me much about that which I knew nothing. love the sequel with scott trinity. i love the additional dimension that you two grew up together. i'm not calling you old but you guys have been friends for quite some time. both ranchers. fascinating! i love the long relationship stories. i hope you do more with scott like following him throughout the different seasons: a year in the life of a rancher. i have a friend i met when i was 18 years old. i'm now 74 and she's 94. blows my mind! :) i talked to her this evening and asked how she is doing. she always answers me with "i'm too blessed to be stressed" and "i'm still kicking just not as high as i used to." my paternal grandfather had a ranch and he raised a lot of beef cows. that was in gilroy, california. my dad said the biggest beating he ever got was when he threw fire crackers into the pens. he did it only once of course. which brings to mine: when you were a kid did you ever do stuff like that? just also wanted to thank you for talking about the influence the bible and jesus have in your life. another reason to watch and like you. good job! hope there's more!

One point in your discussion sure brought back incredible emotions. I began fighting cancer June 7th, 2012 and while I was in a waiting area prior to my umpteenth radiation treatment I looked around the room at different men and women waiting like myself. I kept my thoughts to myself and wondered how ANYONE could face the battle without God ? Those same thoughts occurred many times during 3 years of chemo. He is with us on all of the good days and equally as much during the tough days. I was really happy to hear someone else say it. Thank You

What a great episode Trinity. Thank you for introducing Scott to us and letting us share your friendship along the way. I find it very heartwarming hearing ranchers speak of how their calling is a spiritual one. It's funny to hear people that think we shouldn't be raising animals for food are mostly (in my experience) godless in nature. They are so tied to their own beliefs that they can't see the whole picture. I have long time friends in Great Falls, and I'll have to check into Scott's outfitter operation next time I visit them. What a wonderful series and I'm so glad I stumbled onto your channel via Peter Santenello's ranch series. Safe travels and God bless. I can't wait to see what's next.

We have calved in Feb, March, April, May and June. This year we are calving right now, because the neighbors bull jumped the fence. May is our favorite month. The extra stress that the bad weather brings is gone. We don't have mud or illness or rushing around to make sure babies are dry at 3am and the mom put them behind the wind break. But every single ranch and situation is different. We don't have forest service permits, so we have more control. We do have irrigation going by then, but we work as a team.

You know Trinity, don't know if you have ever seen a Bishops Crossier. You know the staff a Bishop carries, with the hook on one end. It is what Sheppards have used for centuries to catch lambs or even sick sheep, by the hind leg. I made one years ago for catching calves. Worked great. Trick is to make the hook at the narrowest, to be just a tickle wider than the calfs leg. Bishops catch people so to speak, and Ranchers catch Calves and Sheppards catch lambs. I made mine about 7ft tall, and the hook I made about a foot long and from an inch and a quarter or so to about 3 inches wide

I just had an ah-ha moment. Ranching where you use mountain grazing, the calves need to be able to travel and have a few months on them. Here on the eastern plains of Colorado, we take them to fenced pastures. Easier to check cows - not many trees and generally just have coyotes to consider for calf predators. I also have Navajo Churro Sheep and lamb the last of April for about 3 weeks. I don't sell my market animals until they are 18 months old (slow maturing and grass fed) for meat. This flick is close to home and penned up every night for safety. Now I can see both sides of calving seasons...

5:24 their 100% right yall. Usually when we gather up cattle off a pasture. Only ones who actually stay is cow calf pairs... the other cow calf pairs with a bad bag, eye, skinny, etc we load up and take to hq. The rest gets put into another pasture, bag check, eyes, skinny, etc. Making sure they are a good cow for a calf. You can tell If a mother has a calf by the way she's looking but you can't tell which calf if it's on a group of 20 or 40 calfs. 6:30 what he's fixing to say is why I tag my calfs as their born. I am a vet tech and I feel it is a calling also. I see or feel that some of our assistants think working at our clinic is just a job, well those ones don’t last long. Even if you are an assistant at our clinic you have to have a heart for the animals. We do have really hard days though. When we have 5 or more euthanasias on one day it can be really draining physically and emotionally. We do have burn out and unfortunately suicide is very high in the veterinary field. How are the statistics for suicide in farming/ranching? I’m sure there are some since it is such physical, emotional and exhausting way of life. I may have gotten kind of deep there but that is why I feel it is a calling since not everyone can do the job. I always tell myself to take one day at a time. If you tend to look too far ahead you can get overwhelmed! I don’t think I could be a rancher but I sure love taking care of peoples pets. I love this kind of video. I’m glad I found your channel.

Well because I have a goal. I'll keep a mean cow aka protective mother but if she's mean with no calf. Ill sell them asap. Just listen to what he says.
