Exactly! How they keep feet and hands going all the time and read THREE lines of music at the same time is beyond me. But the trio sonatas (some of my favourite Bach) lend themselves very well to these instruments. Lovely playing.

@@LaraineAnne I believe many organists that learn these organ trio sonatas try to memorize it by heart and just use the sheets as a reference rather than for sight reading.

​@@LaraineAnneReading notes is like reading text - you recognize the patterns immediately, like you are readnig txet by recgonizing the pattrens, you do not translate each note each time.That's were the exercise comes in, the notes on paper become a part of the piece in your head, which allows you to play the piece without memorizing it entirely. It is the same thing that you can read a text out loud, without memorizing it literally.

the baroque violin is not an equal to the oboe, so you miss the two parts really competing, the oboe wins all the time, so maybe just take a modern violin instead....

You will find lots of duets between Oboe and Violin in the cantatas, so it must be possible... Maybe the balance...
