the ring pings off whenever i try to seat it. 10/10 times i cannot use the system because of this. i feel like the legs on the ring are too long and get pushed up by the tissues. what am i doing wrong?

I keep getting overhangs with this

As you’re placing the matrix, check to make sure it is placed apical to the floor of the box, tightly wedged, with the ring holding everything in place. Burnish the band against the adjacent tooth and check the floor of the box and band to ensure there are no gaps present. If there are gaps an overhang will result.
